If you go to the update page, all the beautifully sketched photos at the bottom have the word kite city included in the url. I thought perhaps it was the ship coming, but that can’t be try because the name of the flying ship is Zephyr Sanctum. So is Kite City simply another name for something inside the Zephyr Sanctum, or is it another zone????

I can’t find those two screenshots on the Bazaar of the Four Winds page. I’m curious as to where you found them or if they’re actually legitimate.

I have two questions.

A. Is the city a ship? Or is it a actually, ground connected city.
B. Do you guys think we will be permanently able to go here? I myself think Arenanet stupid if they take this away.

Better start crafting some piles of Salt and Pepper to season that thing up, then. I doubt Anet gives us the Tengu home city before they give us playable Tengu, and I’ll eat your longbow if we get playable Tengu in a free content (non-expansion) update.

I second that (I’ll leave the longbow out of it though^^). The Tengu / Talon already have a map, called Dominion of Winds, so it could be a fitting location for it.

I was also thinking I must be mistaken because the said no new zones. But that looks like a new zone!!! It defo doesnt look like part of a ship, and doesnt look like an instance area. It looks ike the area from the concept art, so I suppose it must be bigger. Maybe they are hiding it from us still? I dno. Need a dev to comment on this.

Also note the style of scenery in eastern side of Caledon Forest (notably around Dominion of Winds area)…..

Just saying:

• Oriental-type lanterns
• Eyrie-style holes in the mountain
• “Air” theme
• Whole new city that has to be placed SOMEWHERE

Isn’t there a floating city/castle in the horizon near that skillpoint on the dock? I think it’s in Kessex Hill zone right?

From the way it’s all quoted in the official release it does sound like it IS just flying/floating out there. As it says it’s a “Return” I believe.

And the castle you’re on about HAS moved. It’s in Kessex Hills; Wizard’s Fief:

“The Wizard’s Tower is a floating structure that once resided off Kessex Peak during Guild Wars, at the central southern edge of modern Kessex Hills. It has since been relocated by its new owner, Isgarren, to the southeastern edge of Kessex Hills.¹ It was once rumored to house magical tomes and artifacts.”

And no, I don’t think this update has anything to do with it lol

I find it humorous that the dialogue in that picture still has the typo in it 10 months later.

If you go to the release page and watch the reward part you notice that the ‘’Zephyr Sanctum Model’’ actually is a city at the lower part, then there are alot of sky ships holding it up in the air. I think the city will be exactly like that.

not about the bazar. there were states by ncsoft that an expansion for gw2 is not in the plan. But Arena net and players puled true and the expansion started the developements somewhere in june.

This is my guess.

ArenaNet tend to give internal names during development – these internal names tend to be descriptive to indicate what it is supposed to be viewed as. For example, Ascalon was referred to as “Regrown” during GW2 development, and Kryta as “Valley.”

The Zephyr Sanctum’s internal name was likely Kite City.

After seeing the screens, I really hope wherever this takes place is a perma zone. I highly doubt the Zephyr sanctum will be because the description for the model says “after it’s flown away” implying the sanctum may come back again but will likely not be permanent content/zone.

I don’t think this can be a permanent zone, its a flying city.

I don’t know, I’m all for permanent additions but usually they put the permanent word in there when it is supposed to be.

Edit : When reading into this I think that ‘’Labyrinthine Cliffs’’ is an area of the city. So I think that the new scavangerhunt will take place around the flying city :P

Is it a bird? is it a plane? Nope, its kite city, Zephyr Sanctum. It is in the air. The zones on pictures are Labirithyne cliffs or w/e it is called. It could aslo be part of story stages but it wont be permanent.

Dominion of the winds would be so nice (& the tengu)

but if i can be honest, the flying ships on the concept art, also remind me of the kodan-ships.

One thing we know is that ANet likes surprises. The Aetherblade attack on the lighting of the effigy at Lion’s Arch was not mentioned in the preview notes. That was a little thing but then there were all the events for Halloween that were kept secret too. Maybe they want a really big surprise this time around.

Zephyr = West wind
Sanctum = sacred or holy place

Zephyr Sanctum = A holy place from the West winds.
= A flying city from the west.

Labyrinthine Cliffs is the new zone filled with kites and huge cloth sheets, and it is directly east of Mount Maestrom. The Zephyr Sanctum is part of that zone (not instanced), and is a sail-based airship. The Zephyrites are a people of Canthan, Elonian, or combination of both descent, and they are kind of like airbenders.
