and see 1/2 – 3/4 of your character because they don’t want to $!@#ing implement a FIRST PERSON CAMERA ZOOM
what a waste of time.
Also the timing for the event on SF was completely off, so i kinda like knowing when i can actually play the game, and when i should afk for these “events”
I echo your frustration. It would be awesome to watch the fireworks if I could do it in first-person mode with the UI disabled. And it would be nice to know when the fireworks ACTUALLY start…
I did a /sleep and zoomed in so the only part of me I saw was my knee (was on a male human).
In fairness to ANET…. the camera and targeting system in this game have always been a pile of horse poop… but they never said they had made it better just for the fireworks display
But yes.. for me its the worst camera mechanic I think I have played with, the zoom function is next to useless.. even SWTOR had a better system than this rubbish… buy cheap, get cheap I suppose tho

Try Ctrl + Shift + H
default keyboard binding for removing UI…

Ya, I use Ctrl+Shift+H all the time, I actually even started a youtube series where I would explore zones with the UI off called “GW2: The Immersion Effect”
But it still doesn’t change the fact that we should have more control over our ability to zoom out (more) and also zoom into a first person mode.
Both of which were fully functional and integral features in the original Guild Wars games.

thanks for posting that i didnt know itlll come in useful in the future
Just do /sit. It works fine.
In situations like these I kind of wish that it was made into a cut-scene so you got a dramatic sweeping view of everything. I also wanted that for the moa racing, would make it more worth the 50s if I actually got to see what’s going on without chasing the little guys.
