I was a bit surprised when I got Marjory’s Journal I agree.

the item certainly is……..odd………..
definitely a slot waster for the pack rats amongst us
I had to throw it out because I didn’t have enough slots even though I wanted to keep it pretty badly but these days I am at that point where anything completely unnecessary and cannot stack in my storage is just too much.
yay.

Seems ok to me. The whole thing wasn’t exactly difficult, so a jade ticket would have been a bit over the top. To keep things rare, you don’t hand them out like candy OP.
I’am just going to assume we will see a “Library” section in our collectibles down the road?
I’am just going to assume we will see a “Library” section in our collectibles down the road?
Or they’re just gonna add more of them so that they take more slots in our bank so that we’re more inclined to buy bank space in the gemstore.
I liked it. Hopefully they will let us expand on it in the future by adding out own cut scenes from vista, story, and dungeons.
Personally I think the final reward for a Living Story arc should be a ticket that lets you claim any one of the other rewards, plus one special but largely cosmetic reward for people who got all the rest by other means.
So for example in this case instead of Marjory’s Journal we’d get a ticket that lets us choose one of the following:
Holographic Wings
Shatterer Wings
Jade Weapon Ticket
Dragon Helm Pack (Gift of the Dragon Bash)
Mini Racing Moa
Holographic Risen Knight
Or Marjory’s Journal
(I haven’t included items that can be bought directly from the gem store because if you want them you can already just buy them, so it’d be a bit pointless.)
The fact that this ticket would only be obtainable at/towards the end of the event, and the fact that you can only get one, would encourage people to still try and get the rewards through normal means, but it would provide a back-up for people who missed something and reduce the chance of people ending up with a bank full of special one-time items we don’t want to use but don’t want to destroy because it seems like a waste.

It’d be nice if they gave us a collection window for “memoir” type stuff, if they are going to do this.
Also, noticed you can’t cancel out of it if you turn it on by mistake.
Completely agree.
I liked the ‘noir’ scene and the scavenger/investigation task, especially with Marge & Kas but having watched the noir 3 times already, I thought the journal a waste of slot space so right clicked destroyed it, along with detector…
I think Anet may have been responding to our requests to replay old stuff…
Which is a nice idea but you would after give me a collectibles slot in which to place it, otherwise I am always going to destroy it along with a lot of the other useless clutter Anet dishes out…its just a ploy to get you to buy more storage space…lol
The only noir thing about that scene is the fact it’s black and white.
No. Not even that.
It was just a bad imitation of Chandler.
because he doesn’t know it himself

This. I liked in GW1 how, at the end of all the GW beyond stuff, there was some kind of token or tokens and you turned them in for what you wanted. I think my major complaint with the living story content is we’re not being allowed to CHOOSE our rewards. I would certainly like to be able to get a weapon skin at the end of each event instead of a group of helms that I don’t really like (didn’t open the box so they’ll take up less space in my inventory).
Would be nice too if at some point there were a way to get rewards from past events by passing up an opportunity to get a reward from a current one. But at this point I’d just be happy to see any kind of choice.
lol really? the “reward” is watching a cutscene again? yikes.
I think the last time a cutscene was considered a reward was on the Sega Genesis.
Why not both. I personally I enjoy my book. I like cut scene. I also bought 100$ in gems. And will continue to send money the gem store.
The cutscene should be unlocked and reviewed in the hero panel. Under a new Event and Living Story section. Much like the Personal Story section. Also with the option to save the cutscene to a video file. This would be good for fan sites to use.
Just hear me out. It’s kinda worthless because, well, if anyone wanted to relive the scene again they could just watch it on youtube or something >.>. I personally think a jade ticket would have been more appropriate considering the work and guarantee for everyone to get one of the rarest drops in the event.
Doesn’t that sentence defeat itself? If a drop is rare, it shouldn’t be guaranteed. If it’s guaranteed, it’s no longer rare. The journal requires no work (20 minutes tops).
To make it rare, you either hide it between atrocious RNG or obscenely expensive (think cultural gear). I’d prefer 2000 gem tickets.

Nothing wrong with reviewing cutscenes. Anet should just use my idea above.
Jade Ticket would have been a bit of an overkill considering how rare those are (not really but still cost a lot), but i wouldn’t have minded some gold. The reward just felt anti-climactic. I could just go on youtube if i wanted to watch the cinematic.

This except the Jade Weapon Ticket, because everyone would go for that. Or another weapon/armor skin ticket if it was any other event with the same rarity of those tickets.

Nothing wrong with it, it just shouldn’t be labeled a “reward” as if like they created some awesome thing for our characters that we can shoot for. More like an inventory eater.

The wings are the reward! This is just a free item that takes up space.
Read my idea above and comment on that too. If you’re going to complain about this one reply.
Sure, I could have looked it up on YT, but it’s nice that they put it in the shape of a journal.
I thought it was a nice little thing, but then again, I’m one of those people that permanently carry a Marsh Frog around in their inventory.
or just make it another backpiece, not that we need more, but it would be kind of cool to have a peice of armor that doubles as a video player. Some ideas for halloween eh
Everything you all are saying is well and good, but the bottom line is the more stuff people have to fill their bags the more likely they are to buy gems to expand their bank space. The items are created, and will continue to be created, for that reason. Period.

Maybe I’m just weird, but out of that list the most appealing thing is the risen knight, because of the 20s I’d get from selling it. Holo items are kiddy trash, and while the dragon weapons are nice looking, the color isn’t right for any of my characters. WTB gold or white versions.
