It’s been over 3 weeks and we still didn’t get the new Merchant that will buy stuff from living world updates.
AN where and when are you going to see him in game?

Why don’t you wait for the next story patch? This merchant will probably not appear just to take the items but will have something to do with the story too. And since the story is headed to Brisban Wildlands to look for a black market trader… doesn’t take long to realise that this one will be the merchant we will be looking for.

Next story? You mean Living world 2 in couple of months?
He was introduce as a part of Battle for Lion’s Arch – Aftermath not the living world story ep. 2.

It’s been 1 week+. Aftermath started on the 18th, it is the 28th, 10 days does not equal 3 weeks.

It’s actually been 1,5 weeks. Not 3.

He wasn’t introduced as a “part” of the Battle for Lion’s Arch aftermath. They just mentioned that a vendor would be appearing in the future, likely to inform people so they wouldn’t delete their blade shards after the patch. It was basically a courtesy announcement.

To me that merchant just seems like an afterthought.

It may very well be an afterthought. The devs may have thought that blade shards would be useful simply for the fact that you can make great back items with them. I know I do. A fully stat-customizable exotic / ascended backpiece is pretty great compared to the limited selection of stuff available through other means. I’ll have no problem using every single blade shard I obtained and more on backpieces for my many characters.
But it turns out a lot of people don’t care about that fact (or they just have too many blade shards even for that purpose) and want something else to use them for. But simply allowing them to be sold to NPC vendors would either give those people with thousands of blade shards too much “free” money or give such an insignificant amount that anyone that doesn’t have thousands of shards wouldn’t even benefit.
Cue the need to add some other method to make them useful but not “too good”. A vendor that can exchange them for other items (who knows what). And why not throw some other “historical” items on there since there are always a few complaints now and then about old currencies being useless.

I don’t see why they don’t just unbind them so they can be traded on TP.
That way people that want them can buy them, and those and don’t can sell them.
problem solved

I would say just hold on to them for a little bit longer. My guildies and I speculated that they could possibly end up being used in the next Zephyr Sanctum. (=

This would be the best option, to me as well.

Maybe he’s already in game and just impossible to find? XD

I say wait until the Trait release on the 15th, then see what happens. They could be the Black Market Traders Marjory’s older sister was talking about, hanging around somewhere in the Brisban Wildlands.
