And so the real world begins...
Why would they ever do that? Tengus are isolationist and don’t let anyone in. Why would they suddenly open their doors for refugees when they wouldn’t open them for people who might actually leave after coming in?
This isn’t to discount the idea. I think there is a lot of potential for the Tengu city and starter zone to open up. I just miss the logic behind this particular suggestion.

They wouldn’t let them in I don’t think but they would protect their border. I am still hopeful for Tengu but it won’t be this patch or the next. Sometime this year perhaps.
What Kal said.
Also Lion’s Arch, while a giant city and the melting pot of Tyria, is just a single city and each race has a capitol like place they can escape too.
Maybe at most the Tengu might send some fighter into the fray to make sure their interests are protected, but as far as opening their doors. That is a stretch.
I can actually see the majority of the player population still flocking to one city though. Divinity’s Reach seem the second most populated city next to LA. I doubt we will be seeing anything with the Tengu for some time. Simply because most of the living story content has been created to renew the interest the player base in already built zones. New Zones don’t seem to be high on Arena Net agenda at the moment. Although the Consortium could always finish their tropical resort in Southsun. Which would make that place a bit more useful to go to.
I know they said LA would be changing, but who said it would be gone for good? The merchants will be in Fort Marriner Vigil Keep for the next release and probably the one after that. Once Scarlet is done, I bet LA will be back to normal, but with some changes from the invasion. Although, it would be cool if it were totaled and became a regular zone with monsters and stuff, but not likely.

well don’t expect LA be rebuilt after the fallout, just think it took them 1 month just to rebuild the centre piece in the square after mad king, still no one as cleaned up the lake from tower wreckage so the lazy workers stand no chance rebuilding all of LA in our life time. it prob for the best better loading times if ppl split to their race home worlds ( i just wish the grove was laid out better it pretty but impractical)

It took them half a year to rebuild the statue after King Thorn blew it up, how long would it take them to rebuild the whole city? Especially if things are still there fighting them.

Meh. They’ll just throw two bricks, a plank, and a sack of kittens into the mystic forge, and POOF, newly rebuilt Lion’s Arch.

As I said in another topic;
_ Just because the Tengu are, by nature, isolationists doesn’t mean Scarlet may not pose a threat to them.
That wall may be a buffer to their lands as a whole. However, is Scarlet finds what she is looking for, that “thing” she may find may end up alarming Tengu as well. Where Scarlet may not pose a threat, whatever is under Lion’s Arch may potentially set them in motion against it.
Pretty sure if it’s a dragon/monster/demon/etc. that can shut down the very winds of the world and rot water, that would be a good time as any for Tengu to step up and go, “Awww hell no!”
Whether they be playable or not later (even if by means of “add-on” purchase through BL) remains to be seen, but I can see Tengu taking in some focus being that close to a threat larger than Scarlet’s personal army. _
So basically, this may not directly threaten the Tengu at first. However, they are the closest city that would be affected if Scarlet does find what she is looking for and it’s far more world-threatening than she.

Right, but that’s hardly the same thing as them saying, “Oh hey, look, you non-Tengu are getting the hell beat out of you. Why don’t you come in here behind our big wall, that we’ve been using to keep you out for as long as you can remember, where it’s safe.”
If they act like Little America when Little Japan knocked his lunch off the desk and became active that would actually make sense and give a good reason for them to suddenly open their doors to the outside races.

well the tengu, watch and wait. They want to be self reliant and sturdy. But the rest of the world might not be. Their wall won’t save them from the dragons and scarlet might be a threat to them to. Sooner or later they need to chose a side. To run and hide or fight. They escaped the canta but can’t escape the world.
So everything up until now is just like presearing in the first game. February 18th is when gw2 actually starts
This makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.
…and maybe outside.
This is like some kind of Presearing, yeah.
Would have prefered something more epic than Scarlet, but at this point…
Tengu’s are isolationist etc., but if the world comes to them, they can’t ignore it. Big walls like that can’t stop an entire armada, especially if it can fly over them, and there’s an important gate in LA to their Dominion that they will be forced to defend.
Plus, they have waited until now to see how the world goes on, but they will eventualy choose a side:
“This is our dwelling, the Dominion of Winds. We keep watch from this perch as power shifts and the world is transformed. We must soon determine with whom we will fight and with whom we will ally.” – cit. Wiki.
This said, I believe this is the right moment to introduce the new zones next to LA at the end of this Arch, thus giving us a more complete world.
The eventual exodus from LA will lead somewhere else.

You will need to grind laurels for the sack of kittens, and the plank can be crafted by collecting 500 plank splinters from fallen enemies. The brick can only be gotten from a 0.000003% chance drop off a Black Lion Chest.
…but yes…throw all that stuff into the forge and POOF, newly rebuilt Lion’s Arch.
