I found today that the exotic spinal blade back piece is no longer account bound, but soulbound on use. It’s extremely disappointing, because I liked the idea of having the back piece traded among alts. It’s very sad, and I’m wondering, since it wasn’t in the patch notes, could a dev let us know if this is intended or a bug?

It was always bind on use. If you cannot switch it that means you chose stats/equipped it aka made it bound..

Nope. Sorry. It wasn’t. I passed my exotic spinal blades from my guardian to my Mesmer yesterday. And the stats were chosen to berserker the day I made them, too.

The ascended version was soulbound on use though.

They patched this. Mine is also soulbound now.

It wasn’t. And it was exactly the opposite of what people asked for.
It was also the opposite of what what was proposed in the CDI about rewards and progression, which suggests that idea was discarded.

Pretty disgusting. I love creating things and spending gold on false pretenses.

I made the exotic the day of/day after the Escape From Lion’s Arch was released and as soon as I put stats on it it became soulbound. Maybe it’s a bug that it didn’t soulbound to you guys?

But even dulfy said it was account bound, so the majority of the time the back pack was account bound. Just really weird.

I thought I read that once you select your stats it became soulbound?

I remember when I picked the stats on mine, it warned me that it would make it soulbound, but it didn’t..

The wiki even has a note at the bottom of it:
“Anomaly: The stat selection process indicates that resulting item will be soulbound, but it is actually account bound, and does not even become soulbound upon equipping.”

Figured they’d fix this sooner or later.

Nevermind, I went back and re-read the Dulfy guide. It does say that it remains account bound from Frine-Exotic even after you select stats, but the ascended becomes soulbound.

It’s weird to me that it says this because I am not the only one I know whose back piece became soulbound. o.O

Because god forbid we can actually move gear in between alts..

Perhaps you applied an upgrade to it? That would have made it soulbound.

Ascended becomes soulbound on equip.

I didn’t. It doesn’t have an upgrade, was too lazy / poor to grab one. It has literally changed with the patch. No user error.

Exotics down was account bound. The ascended would soul bound when selecting stats. Figured they would fix it.
