Arenanet should be ashamed of the current state of the living world event. Since they changed the knights to non-zerg mode I have played every night and literally faced scarlet 1 time, and that was just because I guested at Blackgate that successfully killed all 3 knights but we failed at scarlet because the scaling was completely broken. Every other time, my server Henge of Denravi sometimes fails at all 3 of them, sometimes I guest at Sea of Sorrows and invariably the knight that has anything less than 40 people participating will not be killed.
The scaling system is completely broken and disregarding the obvious missteps in the early changes to the event, leave players like me completely alienated, making the completion on any server that isn’t completely full improbable at best, at the point that the players just give up because they know their chances of succeding are next to zero.
If you’re gonna stick to the premise that “events scale to the number of players” then it’s necessary to make the system really good and reliable, if not, explicitly state the minimum number of players to complete an event, because I feel I just wasted a lot of time on these fights

I’d suggest setting up for the encounter about 30min in advance. Did this in an overflow and once you start encouraging people to join and shout out positive things like “We can do this!” or “Let’s kick those knight’s kitten ” you’d be amazed how far those corny phrases can help motivate players. Also keep updating your map chat to fine out how many players are roughly in the boss areas. Once the fight started, not a single boss had less then 50 players with buff. We even got the 6min achievement during the same fight. Again in overflow, so anything is possible ^-^

Sanctum of Rall provides very little in coordination, which causes some groups to layer on Conditions before the Assault Knight is vulnerable to them. But four out of five, we’ll destroy the Knights to gain access to the Breachmaker. And for two of the Assault Knights, we won’t have close to thirty people, but still shred it’s health.
If you’re unfortunate enough to be placed in a section of the Breachmaker with not-max players, you’re likely looking to waste thirty minutes, even though I’ve been in a section with max players who couldn’t seem to grasp the concept of coordination and failed.
I don’t think scaling is the problem, just some players not paying attention.

I find the knights incredibly easy after the change. Beaten it multiple times with less than 30 people on each knight.

Weird though, on my server I joined the fight 4 times yesterday and all 4 times it went smoothly. All 3 down and all times we defeated scarlet too after that. And it was 2 times with full 50, once with 21 and once with 34. (numbers were on the knight i was at). So i find the scaling veryyyyy much improved, cuz before the 25% health drop there were many times it failed.
Fight isn’t that hard, just a question of first using no condi skills, and then stacking all the condis u can during burn phase. Using fiery gs and ice bow help a lot. And ofc it helps a lot if players don’t die to the extraction skill continuously.

The knights are, but every time I zone into the Scarlet fight I see half a dozen other people there so no chance of winning.

Interesting, because AG kills them with 30-35 per knight easily. And this is with lots of condition spam.
Sorry, I got no clue what your server is doing wrong. The knights are really easy. They require auto-attacks from a power-based weapon (your traits/gear are irrelevant, tbh), and you need to dodge at the end of the pull, when the circle disappears.
That’s – it. Nothing else needed. No power specs, no gear setup, no stacking boons, no nothing. Just AA away and you will easily kill them in time. :S

The change seemed to make things easier on my server as well. Each time I’ve tried it since the change we’ve been successful (overflow is a different story, but it always is). Does your server communicate in map chat during the events? Things can fail even with the full number of people simply because people don’t know what they’re doing – it isn’t always a number/scaling issue (though, not denying there have been events that do have issues with this). If, for instance, at the holo fight, people don’t realise that attacking the holograms without the correct attunement will kill you eventually and does no harm to the holos, then you will fail. Someone who can call out helpful advice in map chat is useful.

Never killed Scarlet, every one guesting on other servers, or ill grab an almost empty overflow.
Bad mechanics strike again.

Got my first Scarlett kill last night (and the Knightfall achieve), thanks to TTS guesting to Devona’s Rest.

although the scaling in this is quite bad, Anet is half to blame. the rest of the blame goes to the majority of people whining on forums about the content. yes, it was zerg friendly though it would be great if people wait a couple of days before complaining like a bunch of crazy monkeys.

Henge of Denravi has completed Scarlet quite a few times, including the last 2 evenings (1 hour past reset). Maybe you have been unlucky with the time. If you can, try hitting it at that time (1 hour past reset) because we have a good success rate then.

Yeah the scaling is bad because without the numbers it simply isn’t possible.
There’s no getting around the fact that you’ll just have to guest to a higher pop server if you want to fight the holo. Even if you get thrown into a overflow when trying, those overflow usually do better than the low/medium pop servers anyways. On the bright side, killing one knight usually gives better reward for time and effort than the holo does and you don’t have to worry about getting a seizure or migraine. :x

I haven’t seen Anvil Rock beat it in quite sometime. They are communicating and it seems everybody knows what they are doing. There is generally only about 25-30 people at each knight though. That is all they can muster.

I have faced Scarlet zero times during this event because not a single instance I have seen has ever beaten the knights. I have checked daily, and there isn’t even enough players to beat a single knight (today was a new record, a total of two players plus myself). It might have something to do with the fact that my usual play slot is around 4-5 a.m. server time. I challenge anyone who boasts how “easy” it is to beat the knights to solo them.
As it stands, I have written off the entire LS as a complete waste of time.

Low tier servers have this LS dead. Always only around 20-30 people in ONE knight in my server (GoM) lol. Most are just guesting to higher tier servers to complete it. Tell me there isn’t a problem with that?

It is not difficult to use the guesting service. Maybe they expect/encourage people to do that.
