Guys, it’s not going to happen. The Devs will NOT destroy Lions Arch so knock it off. Do you guys realize how many of the personal story stuff happens in Lions Arch? The Destiny’s Edge meeting, the Order of Whispers escort mission to name a few. It would be a major resource allocation on the Devs to re-design this existing content. We all know that’s not how games like this operate. The focus is on new, refreshing content for maxed characters, not redoing contact that has nothing wrong with it.

So get over it already, Lions Arch will be ‘temporarily’ a kitten-fest zone, after which it will revert back to its original state, with some stuff moved around and added damage eye candy graphics.

Love,

It will happen because apparently, being a masterengineersupergeniusinspirationalleaderwithimpossiblefactionsandinsanelypowerfulweaponsanddidImentionbeingsmarterthaneveryoneelse isn’t enough to ruin Scarlet. They must have het succeed in taking down Lion’s Arch as well.

If you can read this then it is proof that ArenaNet’s moderators just, kind and fair.

missed the memo about the time period now did we?
Personal story is earlier then the time we have now.
See it like your memories, when you play your PS you remember that moment in time.

The living story is current time.

So no, PS is not in any way a hindrance to destroying LA, witch the Devs already stated.

But nice troll try ^^

Try explaining that complication to new folks just pickin up GW2 for the first time. Valid point, but it’s still not going to happen. The face of Tyria will be changed forever will happen in the last or before last content patch, with my guess as large, newly added explorable content. A mini-expansion, if you will.

Ive always thought the PS time frame was obvious to all, its always been like that, no?
else dynamic events and everything just seems very odd and misplaced.

Ive always thought of the PS as my character remembering his old days, like bilbo and thats why its a nice instanced place in the world.., Im running around doing my day to day businesses and comes upon a place where I go.., hmm this seems familiar, and voila I remember that time =)

But maybe thats just me ^^

Even if they turn LA into a PvE zone, if they leave the essantial structures the same, they can still add instanced missions where the NPC movements and dialogue are the same.

“If this was all planned from the beginning then is there a particular direction that ArenaNet has in regards to where the newest player hub will be? The response is that they are curious how players will resolve the issue of a new player hub.”

It’s definitely not going to “revert” like magic. The entire city is burning and most buildings have collapsed; it’s entirely in ruins.

So much anger. Why? Why you anger so much?

Sadly though it is you that is wrong: http://massively.joystiq.com/2014/02/11/prepare-to-escape-from-lions-arch-in-guild-wars-2s-next-conten/

All essential services that are unique to Lion’s Arch will be redirected to Vigil Keep for the time being, including Asura gates to other cities, Fractals of the Mists,

Completely moving things around is hardly “damage eye candy graphics.”

taken steps to ensure that the city will remain fully explorable for map completion, although if you’re especially fond of a particular view…well, you might want to grab screenshots while you can. We were also warned that exploration isn’t exactly going to be as safe as it currently is.

So they have actually expended that “major resource allocation on the Devs to re-design this existing content.”

Now, calm your pants and repeat after me: “whooosaaaa, whoooosaaa, whooosaaaa.”

Good sir, please read the “temporarily re-directed” (to Vigil Keep) part of your comment. It’s all comming back.

Although I’m as excited as the next GW junkie to see how everything will unfold, and if the dev do indeed do away with LA, how that will affect PS episodes.

the dev do indeed do away with LA, how that will affect PS episodes.

Keep in mind that players should still be able to do their personal stories during the attack – that means provisions have likely been made for them (just noticed there are “Personal story steps will be accessible through a new entrance.”).

As far as Kessex Hills goes it seems as though ANet are not scared of leaving things in a mess. They promised to “clean up” Kessex, but hinted that certain parts of it will remain in ruin forever (that little village where you do the escort, for example). I certainly don’t think LA will be left in a bad way forever – but things take time to rebuild (LA took months to rebuild the lion fountain last time). If it will ever be the same, I’m not sure – both of us would be lying if we claimed to know what ANet will do.

how that will affect PS episodes.

This whole PS/LS thing is quite confusing. The LS happens one year after the PS and hence the game is representing two timelines at the same time. It’s inevitable that they would eventually clash and the likeliest victim would be PS (out with the old, in with the new). I can’t claim how they are not going to ruin the PS but I assume that they will have both maps on your hard drive – if you go into LA via PS you will see the old LA.

Aren’t most Personal Story Instances, um…instances. The devs can do whatever they like to the outside world and put whatever spin on it they want. When you zone into the instance, a small voiced over cinematic when you start could explain any discrepancies.

Every part of the PS is an instance as far as i’m aware. They entire world can be gone and they can still send you to the instance back in time to do the PS.

The LS is a full year after the conclusion of the PS, they can’t worry about the PS or the changes will never be important or significant.

Yes, they can go “back in time” for PS.

But are we to now assume huge chunks of the non-instanced game are now in the past as well? If prior releases are any indication, there will be little to no integration of the new content with existing content, leaving a large part of the game living in the past with no connection to current events.

The personal story wouldn’t be a problem. When I did a personal story bit in Kessex during the Tower of Nightmares, the personal story instance didn’t have the tower in it, just the old, original Kessex.

The only problematic one is Tequatl the Sunless – and that can be waived as you never actually see it die, the very most we know is that we lopped off its tail (hence, it could be out-living Zhaitan).

All the rest remain relevant.

Seriously? I suggest you spend a bit more time looking at NPC dialog, Reading text, and paying attention. I can guarantee you Lion Guards and the havens will still be shipping goods to LA, that NPCs will be talking about it pre-destruction, and the bulk of the world will go on blissfully unaware of this update. Ft Trinity won’t care, the Vigil babysitting cannons in Frostgorge won’t care, the Majority of the world won’t care.

In short, it is not going to be a “world” altering event. It will be a zone makeover with bits of fallout.

Before the patch or after?

One question, why would moving supplies to aid LA when it is attacked be a bad idea and irrelevant? LA won’t suddenly cease to exist – the forces fighting in it don’t merely need air for subsistence, this isn’t the final chapter into the LS. There is insurmountable probability that the next LS chapter will be called “Return to Lions Arch.”
