Yah, but no taxi/changing map at all.

Also, they should make it on an hourly basis without any speed up mechanics, (somewhat like invasions used to be), but with a bit better rewards.

It’s not just about hitting gold. The faster you do it the faster you can get rewards. Barely getting a gold is 8 minutes, but it’s very doable in 6 mins(or even less). Ignoring the donation time that’s 25% faster.

So not only is it about hitting gold, but being even better than that is beneficial as well.

I dont’ think that’s what people are complaining. People are complaining very few people actually coordinates with other “bad players” in open world. They just get together with all the good(dedicated players) in an instance.

So basically it is an instanced raid in which people spend “quite a bit of time” right clicking to get ferried.

Obviously, Anet won’t slap themself in the face, since they said there won’t be any instanced raid at the start. So I doubt they’ll make organization more easily.

I’m just hoping Anet don’t spend too much of their develop time on so called raids. I’m overall pretty happy with this living story. The previous ones like lion arch invasion or marionette living story, are just raid and nothing else. If I want to play a “instanced raid” game, there are much better games for that.

I can’t help but feel the phrasing here is a bit off. First, despise is ab ad word, sure I want nothing to do with some of the players in this game, but i don’t have any ill will towards them, they just want to play their way, I want to play my way which is a way that gets stuff done.

And I wouldn’t say it’s “bad” players, you can lack skill and what not and be fine by me. it’s when you don’t care to try, don’t care to listen to advice, and generally have no desire to work as a team. Those are the players that annoy me. Selfish people.

The guys that run from boss to boss tagging them because they selfishly want more karma, ignoring the fact that doing that they’re making the event take longer.

The guys who sit on the wall ranging wiggins causing resets and doing the bare minimum. Range him, that’s fine, but get down on the ground where you can’t reset him, or optimally go to one of the bosses more suited for range (pyro/kuraii/sparcus come to mind)

The unique thing about this game is the lack of the trinity and the group engine. There is no healer/tank. It’s a system built on everyone holding their own. The scaling works that way too. When epople just sit and leach off others it’s very disheartening. If you can’t perform that well, that’s fine, but event he slightest attempt is enough to differentiate you from the zerglings that annoy me personally.

Did it myself a couple of times and guess what? I could consider myself lucky if I managed to get 10 people to cooperate. Most players didn’t give a kitten (they were probably too busy complaining about how crappy the content was and how the good farm was gone) and almost every organization attempt ended up being nothing but a frustrating experience and a complete waste of time.
The current situation is nothing but the result of that. It’s not (for the most part) about “good” players trying to avoid “bad” ones so they can farm better, it’s about a huge part of the playerbase showing a complete and active unwillingness to cooperate and having to be avoided just in order to play the content.

I don’t even bother. I’ve already gotten all of the rewards I wanted from previous Living Stories, and I find getting tokens in the Cliffs+Aspect Arena much more relaxed and stress-free. Nowadays I only visit the Pavilion to do the Gauntlet.

I’m not a big fan of massive battles so I would be fine with more content where I rely just on my own performance, but this is an MMO and group content, even massive one, not only needs to exist but must be the “emphasis” for the most part.

IMHO ANet has been doing a great job with this open world massive group content for the last LS releases. Marionette, Watchwork Knights, Boss Blitz … all of them are a huge improvement from the “lets blob and spam attacks so we tag as much as we can”
design we got for over a year.
None of them can be compared with an organized raid. While more complex than mindless zerging (everything is), main procedures have been easy enough to be handled just with the use of map chat and the main reasons for them to fail have been either a lack of population (already “solved” by megaservers) and some players’ attitude.
That’s what needs to change, and if it needs to be the hard way, so be it.

I’m fine if they made more organized raid content. I just hope that is not the “emphasis” of the next living story.

I’m not a big fan of massive battles so I would be fine with more content where I rely just on my own performance, but this is an MMO and group content, even massive one, not only needs to exist but must be the “emphasis” for the most part.

IMHO ANet has been doing a great job with this open world massive group content for the last LS releases. Marionette, Watchwork Knights, Boss Blitz … all of them are a huge improvement from the “lets blob and spam attacks so we tag as much as we can”
design we got for over a year.
None of them can be compared with an organized raid. While more complex than mindless zerging (everything is), main procedures have been easy enough to be handled just with the use of map chat and the main reasons for them to fail have been either a lack of population (already “solved” by megaservers) and some players’ attitude.
That’s what needs to change, and if it needs to be the hard way, so be it.

Than give us instanced raid. Which they dont’ want to give us.

Guild wars 2 was built on the premise of no instanced raids. If you want instanced raid they just released a new game that has lots of it, but with a slightly better combat than WOW.

The thing i like about guild wars 2 is, I can particiapte in all those raid like things without having to subject myself to being in a guild with jackweeds. If I want to do Teq or Wurm or blitz I can do them without being in TTS.

it already became an instanced raid. If you are not in those “cool” instance you pretty much fail.

I arrive 30 minutes early on TEQ. Several people start and explain the fight and try to help organize, just have to have our kitten whip. “not saying it is impossible, but you pretty much have to arrive 1 hour early to do it”.

With guesting, all the remotely dedicated players just taxi and do instance raid.

So all the “open world” is just fill with bad players. No one can organize open world raid with those left overs(no offense).

And instance don’t mean you need to be in a dedicated guild. Just leave out the “kick option” other game have. Everything is exactly the same. I’m just saying give the leader an option to create “empty instance” so they can get everyone in.

Charge Gems for “map openers” creating “private” instances which are only accessible through pulls. I’m sure some bean counter could come up with a price that would have anet not losing money on opening more maps.

I actually did leave a TTS map the other day for a PUG map because my friend who was trying to get into the TTS map on me was getting golds in the random map he was in, while we were getting silvers in the TTS map (it was dying). Just seemed to me that there are more nad more people understanding what to do.

Ovearll this is one of those situations where I feel the “play how you want” mentality is toxic. “I don’t have to listen to you, i’ll do whatever I want” should not be the response to trying to organize and get gold… But far too often it is. So absolutely most “good players” are doing everything they can to avoid those players.

I honestly don’t know what you mean by random maps. I walked in a random maps with 6 commanders and I was able to get gold too. But the probability is so low that I only encounter it once during the whole event.

If the success rate is so low on “open world”. Just give player and guilds the option to create an empty instance, so it is easier for them to organize.

Sure u can do teq wurm and blitz without an organize guild but what are ur chances, sure u might success with teq but gl at getting dimwits to kill the champs in blitz or wurms head at the same time.

TBH, they should disable taxi options on pavillion along with disabling any ruleset for placing you into certain map and it should be completely random in which map you land and then you are “locked” to that map for an hour.

Because playing with friends is completely overrated… =/

You should know by now that Anet doesn’t like people playing together with their friends. Go into an overflow and play with your cool, new friends that you’ll probably never see again when this instance of the map dies. You’ve already hung out with those people on your friends list, go out and meet some new people.

I have noticed lately that it is almost impossible to get into a gold run anymore. Even if you use the lfg gold boss blitz tag, most of the time you’ll get pulled into a map that is nowhere close to running a gold bb run.

And yea, I have also seen the ridiculous “tips welcome”, or 1-2g required for taxi garbage.

Fortunately, I got the AP for this a couple weeks back, so I don’t need to run it anymore.

But that still doesn’t make it any better for those that are still trying to run it.

I definitely think this is one of those Anet ideas that just didn’t turn out how they thought it would. A good one to mark on the drawing board…’don’t try this again’.

While I thought it showed promise at first, and I got my AP when things were still going somewhat good for gold runs…….the pavillion has devolved into a chaotic mess., and a huge time sink for those who still need/want it.

Never. Organized a silver once with pugs, 3 failed attempts and we finally got silver, then had to log. I guess I can’t herd cats like I used to in EB.

Takes me a average of 10 mins to end up in a gold pavilion, I am in Europe.

If the taxi service was removed, I just would not play Boss Blitz, I would do something more worthwhile ingame or log out. I want to play with other players who ‘get the mechanics’ of what you doing.
