Not even released and already bugged?
They even look puzzled!
So what should they do?
Push every single release back several years in order to find every possible issue that might turn up?
I wouldn’t say that 4 months is rushed either tbh.
Due to the look on their faces this was something that hadn’t turned up yet in the tests, which shows that stuff can go wrong even after it being tested.

No, but it would be nice if they took a breather and fixed some of the more annoying issues. Like they did with the current fractals. Only then they introduced new ones again.

Judging from what happens at 30:50 (bosses in the cinematic also appear AGAIN when the fight actually starts) I’d say 4 months was too little. It’s working, but still much unpolished.
There’s just so many things that feel…unfinished or not thought-through enough. Like with ascended gear uniqueness and infusions. A little more thought into the process and they’d realized that by making ascended gear unique AND include the upgrades in the stats, they made that much extra work for themselves because they now have to add each combination by hand…twice.
I think it was not bug. Trap hit you with agony and maybe it is too hard for thief with 13k hp.
“Not even released and already bugged?”
This title made me chuckle.
I actually didn’t read this thread.. I saw the link and thought “Ooh i forgot about the livestream! clicky clicky!”
And I got to that part and was like “how did he not rez, he was out of the maze and there were no enemies around?”. I rewinded twice to see what it was. It seemed like his body was still in the trap area and getting hit by traps. That cannot be intentional.
Reminds me of the issue where the body dies and slides, and people can’t rez because the real place they died is too far away from the body.
Edit: also, when he gets downed the second time, those sparks and agony don’t persist while he’s downed, so he can heal. Which does make it seem like it was a bug the first time. And I saw some sparks on the other players the first time, but none the second time. Hopefully that gets worked out, as it would be a big downer when doing the new content.

Remember it was a living story team that made this update, not a dedicated dungeon team. To my knowledge, there are 3 LS teams, updated every 2 weeks → 6 weeks to work on this.
It just looks bad when the narrator keeps spouting off about the QA team playing it so much.
I also got a chuckle after the pilot was dead and the rest of the team just left them there. Looking back this leads me to believe it was more a bug on the down state auto moving and maybe the team didn’t see him there and he was actually still up top getting hit by the traps. Which could be caused by any number of things including client side issues.
Defending bugged software keeps it bugged. It’s not constructive. How about talking about how to improve things so bugs happen less in the future?
No one is defending it.
But claiming that they don’t have a working QA department and that they should fire them is just silly.
The bugs we see are still quite minor, not really anything game-breaking. Sure they are annoying, but in most cases not worth pushing a release back for.
People also seems to believe that every single bug will be found during testing, and that the testing environment is identical to the live environment, and thus works exactly the same. Which is completely incorrect.

Nah, it’s perfectly fine.
Isnt that usually the case? That things aren’t released because they contain bugs or when content isn’t ready yet?
It is unusual for stuff to be pushed back unless there is a major bug found.

Keep Calm and a remember….
There will be 2 or 3 hotfixes/patches immediately after the release today.
80 ~Warrior~ Delvoire | 80 ~Ele~ Azalea Avenir
80 ~ Guardian~ Rag Nor | Server ~ FA

Bugs happen. It’s the nature of the business.
However, considering how polished every patch for GW2 has been compared to other games, I don’t think this is really a big deal.
I mean, I remember back when I played WoW that there wasn’t much reason to play anything on patch day simply because you could almost guarantee that any new raid encounter would be unplayable to half your group because of either overwhelming glitches or server instability.
I have yet to log on to a patch that wasn’t playable and the only instance of this I have heard of was the original Karka event that was over a year ago (which they seemed to have learned from).
… to half your group because of either overwhelming glitches or server instability.
Isn’t this patch introducing instability?

Indeed.
Who said they played on the newest version of the release?
I think…pretty much I never play right at the start when it something like this. Because like someone else said. There is a patch or two help fix minor bugs. I never seen any MMO be 100% perfect. If so then go play that game and stop complaining.
This is amazing mmo which release things just about every month now.
Look at WoW ..“Oh yeah will release stuff every few months. ((7Months later)) Oh hi guys here some raids that you wont give kitten about but here you go.” WAVES takes money
This why I love open world/change/so forth whatever mother made this creature.
It’s fantastic…YES from time to time. Bugs go on, and some of these events are lame.
BUT next month winters-day. WOOT WOOT but my point is..try to not dog it until
few patches to fix those bugs, then go in and see how you like it. No one forcing you to go in there.
I would like list few mmo’s not perfect and pretty much went free to play
Rift
Star wars Online
Warhammer Online
Tera
Lord of the rings Online
So forth, so forth… all weren’t 100% perfect. But they learn from mistakes and try fix them.
The tester Anet has is fine.. it’s being human and making errors.
:D ENJOY YOUR DAY PEOPLE <3
I loved the live stream. Funniest thing I’ve seen so far. Lets get a sneak peak of the new fractals, shall we?
1. going into downed state…
happens and not big a deal but being constantly or most of the time in downed state as someone that wants to show a sneak peak is pretty bad.
2. using auto attack
anybody saw this or was it just me that the person only used auto attack and at times skill 3 but not very often tho
3. traps
fun thing to have but again if you like to show how awesome the new instance is, shouldn’t you be the one showing us that and not laying on the floor most of the time?
4. No enthusiasm
I’ve never seen anybody in any gaming company that’s that bored. If you want us to like the new instance and get us all excited then this wasn’t the way to go.
Summon: What did we learn? Nothing. If that’s how they determinate if there are bugs in the instance no wonder most of the things ain’t working right. Thanks for the sneak peak

1) He most likely traited to do extra damage while downed, therefore improving his dps.
2) He used his heal at full health to stealth, so that he could use the #1 in stealth. Obviously anet doesn’t want you to spam #1, that’s why they fixed that “animation” glitch on sbow rangers
3) Lol. Got to make it look hard right?
Let people test, “free” service (we actually paid for the game, so they get money to have us test lol)

You clearly don’t know what a concentrated gamer looks like when he/she’s playing and enjoying a game.

I don’t think you need to concentrate while laying on the floor or pressing 1. Guess I am not casual enough for that point of view, sorry…
i cant be bothered to read all the responses so maybe someone already pointed this out.
i think you’d be hard pressed to find unreleased content in any game that has 0 bugs. the title of this thread feels completely redundant. it’s like saying indie game developer launches kickstarter and already unfinished game.
every game has bugs after it’s release. the amount of testing you can do with a limited number of testers is always going to be inferior to the data you collect from a full player base after release.
Sigh.
Whether it’s fixed or not before release, how on earth would you know beforehand whether it has or has not?
How dare they encountering bugs during development!!!!
Seriously, threat title makes no sense…if this specific bug will be still present in the release patch, now that would make more sense to wonder but…oh…guess we still have to wait before feeling entitled to complain about everything.
eerm…btw, where’s ze patch?
Seriously?
That’s like saying: “This software is still in development and it’s not even finished?”

I have a hard time believing QA testers that dont test what happens upon PC defeat in new content have much of a leg to stand on regarding doing their jobs. More skeptical folks could start questioning their existance as well.

It is however fully possible that said issue didn’t turn up on the test-servers.

They at least feel symptomatic of the larger issues. Sure, it’s not a problem that the quaggans ignore the large structure 5ft from their homes in Kessex Hills…but it breaks immersion if it happens on a regular basis. Which it does, because I saw seraph all over Tyria weeks after the jubilee.
Also, it’s not a problem that you cannot complete said quaggans renown heart…but it’s annoying.
And it’s REALLY frustrating if you get punished with a repair bill because of a bug. Feels like you’re being punished for lack of polished content. I’d rather not have the harpie annoyance traded for an aetherblade annoyance for example.
What Anet does with my feedback is up to them. I’m just one of many, many customers. But for me, these supposedly minor things can become a dealbreaker if they persist.

The content was already done, it’s not like they were playing something while behind the scenes people were still working on it. That’s not how software development works. This was either live or a test setup identical to live.
