It costs 3 copper per use, and has the same kit stats as a Basic Salvage kit.
a VERY weak 10% for rare material, 20% to retain upgrades

Basic kit cost 88 copper.
To use new salvage kit 25 times is 75 copper.

So you pay 800 gems save 13 copper and for basically the basic kit use…

Not worth it.

It’s even dishonest for them not to post the kit stats.

People would buy it out of Convenience. It was the same with the unlimited Gathering Tools. Can we not have the same discussion every time?

Besides, when the new Magic Find System comes the users of this kit will have a pretty good time.

It is rather convenient indeed. Even though it seems the [Disasembler 3BEK Kit] is better imo. 250 uses, and was obtained for trading junk back during the karka event.
A shame it wasn’t just no cost, but still frees up a ton of space in my inventory rather than 25 kits taking everything up.

It is convenience. You don’t want to carry 15/25 use salvages everywhere you go, do you?

Just because it’s not a smart investment doesn’t mean it isn’t convenient.

Most people who have even a few thousand AP have their bank full of mystic forge stones by now. It’s the best solution by far to make mystic salvage kits, 250 uses, only costs about ~20 silver when you buy the 3 lesser kits. I would never buy an “infinite” kit that costs 3 copper per use with 800 gems.

shame. I was hoping on a mystic kit equivalent, only with unlimited uses. definitely would’ve bought it (if it’s account bound, not soulbound, that is).

the gathering tools were ‘best in stats’ and thus a real convenience, as you didn’t need to switch constantly if you played in a low lvl area.

26s24c for 250 uses assuming you don’t count the price of Mystic Stones (since you get a bunch from AP chests).

That’s about 10.5c per use (a little over).

However, the advantage is that these are Master Salvage Kit uses, not Basic Salvage Kit uses.

ALSO KEEP IN MIND THAT THE INFINITE SALVAGE KIT DOES NOT HAVE A CHANCE AT RETURNING UPGRADES (need confirmation on this, using description as a source)

It’s not convenience until I can get one for all my alts without paying 800 gems each which would be insanely expensive.

I know I’m going to buy one because I carry at least 5/6 basic salvage kits at any time, so it frees up inventory space. It is, as most people said, a convenience item and I’m treating it as such. :P

I am guessing this won’t sell as well as the infinite gathering tools due to the fact there is no unique cosmetic tell that others players can see.

(Unless I am completely wrong and there is some animation/effect that triggers when you use this infinite kit?)

How much gold is 800 gems? Like 35 gold? The money you would save with this, the convenience of waypointing and acquiring new kits, the bag slots to give you enough space to continue without it. If you instead spent 35 gold on bag slots or the raw materials this kit will turn items into (or spent more money and bought the personal merchant) wouldn’t that be more convenient than this?

You don’t need to waypoint, just go into WvW, there’s merchants right at the start points. and you’d need to use two item slots at least to use the thing. I’d rather just keep my two master salvage kits like I normally do. then buy more when needed.

Unfortunately that’s not how business works.

If you are one of those players ArenaNet loves above all others and you only have a single main, you have access to this very system. If you only ever play the one character, 100% use of these items is available for 800 gems. ArenaNet designs against alts.

I am not buying one…

If it was equal to a master and had no cost on use, I would consider it…

Otherwise a waste of time…

so for 800gems, which will go up in gold prices since we farm the CAT out of the crown pavillion, we can buy and infinate basic( noob / that thing you can buy with level 1 at any merchant) salvage kit which further destroy copper in the process, which after a while you have to gather again ( at some point you jsut run out of copper).
so let me ask you a thing. HOW is this convinient? if i have to gather the copper after while again means i EITHER have to spend MORE GOLD to buy more copper OR have to go outside and mine more copper to have a reasonable amount of copper to salvage a large amount.
uhm for me thats more unconvinience if you ask me. if it was a slavage kit that provides 100% to slavage thing then it would be understandable, but the basic kit, the noob kit the one you get oon any level from every merchant everywhere its not worth spending gems/gold to buy this and then spend more time and/or gold to provide its working.
the infinate gathering tools are convinient because they have the same quality as oraclium tools and have no cost to gather anything.
this piece of machinery is WoW in a nutshell.
You buy it for big money, you can use it for a while, but after a while you need more spendings to keep useing it.

3 copper, as in 3c the money, not the ore. If I recall, it saves 0.52c per salvage compared to a basic salvage kit. (but you can always just go get a basic salvage kit for karma instead)

The down side is that considering it’s only at basic salvage level it’s at most only good for salvage items, whites, or maybe blues (who knows how good it will be when they take away magic find and we start salvaging blues/greens en mass).

Also, as it stands, a ton of players have been flooded with mystic forge stones thanks to the achievement chests (I think I have over 100 in my bank), so it’s really cheap for me to just use mystic salvage kits for everything if I wanted. It further devalues the appeal of this infinite item. (But if the infinite kit was on Mystic Salvage level [or black lion, without the guaranteed removal], there would be no point to ever making a mystic salvage kit again, which would make all of those stones useless instead).

Ohh, yes I mis-interppeted that then. When they said copper fed, I read that as copper ores…and having to keep ores in your inventory. Thanks for the correction. Not that bad now… but still wish they were closer to mystic kit percentages. Account bound would be great if I could mail it to myself before character swapping though.

I just don’t understand the cost. Orichalcum tools cost more per use than basic salvage kits, and those do not have an associated cost. If I had to guess, though…it has to do with being worried about people mass TPing salvageable items.

Eh… the voice sound effects are cool but I’m not sure it’s worth $10 and an inventory slot. Like many people have already mentioned, I make a Mystic Salvage Kit and I’m set for at least a few days. For myself, I’m not salvaging anything that doesn’t have a chance at T6 mats, and so I’d much rather have the higher chance from Mystic kits. These not having the same stats as the BLSK makes sense, but it kinda seems to me that if you pay for something that has infinite uses, you want it to be useful in the long-run, and everybody will eventually get to the point where they need the higher chance at rare mats more than anything else. As the item currently stands, it would only make sense if you were a new player and didn’t have the money and the achievement chest stones to make a Mystic kit.

If they changed this kit to have the same stats as the Mystic kit, though, I would probably pick it up. It would probably still be more expensive, but at that point I would actually use it, and I like the robot voice. The infinite gathering tools were also much more expensive considering that you could get ori tools for karma, but I definitely feel that they were worth it.

huh, I thought it was 3 copper ore per use, not the currency. If its the currency, I guess its not that bad. Maybe I’ll get one. It doesn’t become soulbound or anything, correct? I don’t see anything about that aspect on Dulfy’s page.

I use Basic Salvage Kits on every item I salvage except yellows. The chance for rare mats doesn’t really go up that much with higher level kits (not in my eyes, anyway… ecto chance goes up signifigantly, which is why I use mystic kits for rares, but not higher ores / leather / cloth), and I typically only salvage blues and whites so the sigil / rune chance does nothing.

This would be a huge convenience for me personally. I run out of salvage kits all the time (far, far more often than I run out of gathering items), and its really annoying, especially in some zones where there are few vendors around. I’m not willing to drop the cash on it, though, since I have multiple characters and would have to buy it for all of them, which would be way too much money to spend. I “might” buy one if its account-bound and can thus be shuffled around, even that’s just a maybe, I’ll have to think about it some more.

Seems like people don’t understand how economy works. If they made this kit equivalent to the Mystic/Master Salvage kit with no cost, it would defeat the reason of gold-sinking into those kits.

Worst if it was account bound. You could switch it non-stop between characters, defeating the purpose of buying any kind of salvage kit ever again.

In my case, I always have 1 Mystic Salvage kit and 2 Basic Salvage Kit on my characters. Basic for whites/junk/blues and Mystic for yellows. The new kit would be convenient, save me 1 bag slot and prevent me for going that often at a merchant to buy new basic salvage kits. It’s meant to be convenient, not save gold. With the new wallet, you don’t even need to transfer gold to use it. It’s accessible.

Dont’ like it? Don’t buy it! I will probably get it on my first main, because I’m like that.

It’s a CONVENIENCE item, not meant to make you rich! And with the upcoming changes to blues/greens, it might even be more useful then!

Though since it is now a BASIC kit which costs 3 copper per use, it’s still a gold sink in a way, and it would be nice if that one is account-bound so I can save space. I’ll wait and see.

Huh. Well, my main has all three types of infinite harvest tools but I have no problem buying basic salvage kits. I’d buy an infinite BLSK in a heartbeat but am fine with mystic/masters for rares.
