HI Anet! I just wrote yesterday because I returned to the game for LS S02. Guess what, I can’t finish LS because every time I go to the Frostgorge to help defeat the Svanir, farmers harass me for trying to complete the event and even if I ignore them, they make the Yak event fail, that’s on top of having to finish the previous event while being called and “idiot, troll, scumbag, kitten” and to GTFO.

So, wow thanks guys it was a nice 5 days back, well at least you got me for 600 gems to buy the chapters that I can’t complete.

Mission accomplished?

Wow that blows. I’m so sorry man. I’m sure this was an unintended consequence.

If you need help with it, just hit me up. I’m sure I can muster 10-12 people from my guild to try and get it done with you.

If you have screenshots of said people doing this, email it to Anet, they might do something about said harassment this that is the toxic environment they do not want in game.

I did take Screenshots, I’ll try that… and sure I can work around it… guessing early on Saturday probably, just feels really dumb to have to work around to play something I already paid for.

Two days ago, I logged into a character I had left in Frostgorge after killing the Claw of Jormag, and saw someone ask for help with the living story events there. Another random person and I both offered to help, so the three of us formed a party and started completing the events. I turned on my commander tag, and we soon had about 10 people helping this one player with the living story.

It sucks that your experience was so much worse. I suggest trying again, and asking politely for help in map chat from the beginning. Make sure your timing doesn’t conflict with the Claw of Jormag events, though.

Definitely will try this Saturday in the morning and yeah at least 1 player tried to help me out, even whispered to not let farmers get away with it, so I know its not everyone.

I was just kinda kittened since I wasted my “gaming time” with a bad experience when I could have played something else.

Incase you don’t want to click all the links, basically my guildies and I started clearing and finishing the event, then people noticed us and started yelling at us in say, I didn’t notice at first (I also didn’t know people actually farmed here tbh) so then the whispers started. People decided to threaten to report me for botting and proceeded to verbally harass my guildies and I.

We finished the event and proceeded to kitten off all the farmers, I reported these individuals who whispered me for verbal harassment and will be sending these screen shots to anet.

If anyone ever needs help with this event I have no problem going and derailing these farmers, please hit me up. If i’m not involved with my guild I will be more than happy to assist you.

I’ve seen bad behavior from the ‘fail train’ in Frostgorge too, not only preventing the living story from being completed but also making fun of the people who want to do it. Anyway this is toxic and needs some resolution, from customer services if not from a patch.

It needs to be patched ASAP. If nothing else, revert it to the original form of the event chain so there’s no champions to draw the farmers and so that a good player can solo it if needed. Then, when progress is no longer being blocked, they can work on a better solution.

One of the design principles behind GW2 was to avoid having situations where players have mutually incompatible priorities (such as one group wanting an event to succeed and another wanting an event to fail because there’s something they’d rather get from the failed event). Well… that’s what they’ve ended up with here, and in a way that is impacting on people’s enjoyment of the game much more than any event chain in Orr does.

Yeah sadly this is happening and I honestly don’t know why…… A-Net reduced the original cool down timer of finishing the event by ten minutes and people are still purpose failing I really don’t understand why…..

Basically yeah, not threats about botting though, but I would not be surprised if did get reported.

I did get called out on “using their buffs” which were kinda hard to avoid since they were in the middle of the event and I kept pressing F to loot.

i think that all champ chests dropped from event champions should only be rewarded as bonus chest after the event has succeeded.

if the event fails, the most you get is a single blue loot chest.
if the event succeeds, you can get up to 3 exotic loot chests and an additional loot item that could be specific to the zone or event.

maybe that would fix the “fail train” attitude. i am so sick of the fail-train.

I love to farm and running trains but the fail trains…… WHY?!

+1 on hating the fail trains. At least the farmers I ran into were nice about it – but I shouldn’t have to go shopping for another instance (on a megaserver – yeah, that’s not exactly the easiest thing to do) in order to complete the story.

Almost managed to solo it in the nice empty instance I ended up in – but not quite. I’ll have to go do it another time.

I’ve also been trying to do this event tonight and same thing – farmers were making the event fail over and over and, after I asked if we could complete it, was pretty much ignored. Well…one person suggested that I might want to guest to another server that wasn’t farming. Thanks :-P

ANet, PLEASE do something to fix this! You want us to enjoy the Living Story? Well, if we can’t run an event we need to complete it because of people fail-farming, then what’s the point?

Edit: I was able to guest to Anvil Rock today and get the whole chain done. In fact, the group there was doing the entire chain multiple times in a row! If you can guest there, maybe you can get it done too. (It’s sad that I had to do that to get away from the nonstop fail farming that has been happening all day on my server.)

This is why the champ train in FGS will get nerfed and trust me, it will. Not because Anet wants to kill farming but because a vocal minority cannot behave themselves and they can’t think of any other way to stop the verbal abuse. Honestly it’s sad and pathetic, you’d thnk they’d have learned after QD.

I feel your pain. I have multiple characters. I have run across those same type. That is why I ignore the written chats. We use TS so that as a guild you can ignore the chat box.

That is such an unlucky turn of events, I also had trouble on that part but managed to find a map where they were completing instead of failing it.

Well, if it’s any comfort, it’s entirely instanced, much more like the first two episodes were rather than episode 3.

kitten, what server world are you on? If you post the server name, that should push the devs into fixing the problem. I’m also wondering if you are on one of the hardcore servers.

Keep in mind that these players aren’t normal mat farmers who want stuff for crafting. They’re Farm Trolls.

Current suggested solution: BLOCK THEM. Then leave the map for a moment. Then re-enter Frostgorge. The Megaserver system should place you and your team on another map.

If the Farm Trolls threaten to report you for botting, BLOCK THEM.

If you have players who are sending you hate messages (racial slurs, lgbt slurs, etc), report them first, then block them.

Another solution: Guest on another server.

This isn’t the only area in the game that is affected by Farm Trolls. On the Tarnished Coast server, these type of players try in vain to stop zergs from opening the Gates of Arah too. I just add these guys to my block list when I start seeing the “Stop doing the event, you ******” messages.

It does help to be in a large group that intends to finish the event.

Like many others posting here, I had experienced the same thing. Until ArenaNet implements some kind of permanent solution, you will have to use a workaround. The first thing you want to do is advertise in LFG. It’s likely that there are other people out that are stuck on the same story step as you. I managed to find two people to help with doing the event and that was enough. It was difficult but we managed to do it.

Second, you want to disable normal and map chat because you will most certainly receive verbal abuse. I don’t think that it applies to all farmers but there are some that make the majority of farmers look bad. If you get whispered with hate messages then definitely report them.

Third, you want to position your group somewhere in the capture point but somewhere where you won’t draw as much aggro. This will allow your group to slowly pick off the enemies. Don’t expect any help from the zerg though. With that being said, there’s nothing they can physically do to stop you either. Try your best to stay alive while staying on the point and you should be able to clear the waves and complete the event.

You don’t have to worry about the dolyak event too much. If you are able to CC the elites and keep the dolyaks healed then you should be good to go. Like I said, I did it with a group of 3. Most of the time, the zerg won’t try to interfere because there’s really nothing they can do. The last event is relatively easy as you don’t have any champs to worry about. Technically, the zerg could show up to upscale the event but the temptation of killing the champs is so great that it would only backfire on them.

My name is Konig, and I support this suggestion. The concept of it – not the 3 bags for success one, as that may be exploitable, arguably, maybe.

This goes into suggestions made previously such as here and that was formed here on how to promote succeeding events. Improve the rewards for success over those of failure, and you have more farmers seeking to succeed events rather than fail them.

Increase the fail reset timers. Increase the success rewards with those bouncing chests. This will help mitigate a good deal of it, as with Coiled Watch people are failing because the farmable events respawn either instantly or in 5 minutes on failure but on success it’s 30 minutes or some such. If the failure was increased to 15 regardless of placement in the chain, and success given a Geode-like reward (regional based event-success reward to be turned in at a special merchant)

Sure, no one has to help you, but the point of this thread is that people are actively barring event completion. Their aim is for the event to fail, which isn’t hard for them to do when they all leave the cap zone and let the npcs die. Have you even seen this farm strategy in person?

His post was his complaining that he’d spent gems to do the story, a story that he wasn’t able to do because “farmers harassed me.” Was he even aware of the event scaling because of the other people? He didn’t mention it. My point is that he can choose to be a whiner/victim, or he can play the game he wants to play. i.e. why didn’t he make a thread like “I’m looking for help from other people trying to complete storyline at coiled watch” ? God knows I love trolling, and he or anyone else that needs help with this particular event, look me up in game, PLEASE. Nothing would make me happier than ruining some people’s farm

If this event is anything like Tequatl spawns, champs will only show up once there are more than five people in the area. It might actually be easier with fewer people.

Looks like they patched the event so it hopefully should be easier to complete for those who need the achieves rather than being forced to find instances that are not being farmed.
