Did any non-Engies get this message?

When I first ran through the story with a group of RPers two weeks ago, I don’t remember seeing any of the non-Engies get this message. I could be wrong tho…

I’m going to run through with my Sylvari Ranger and see if the same message pops up.

I’m pretty worried about my sylvari engineer. He’s been wanting to change his name recently.

If the player is a sylvari he is always non-soundless so I don’t think sylvari engineers are at risk.

Besides, it is mentioned that Omadd’s device is now different from what it was when Scarlet first entered it.

That looks like the same text my Norn Ranger got; if there is different text, that isn’t the line.

Pretty sure that’s what my Charr Ranger got too.

Same text my human guardian got too.

Also, the player character (sylvari or not) did not already hear voices in their head before they entered the machine. Ceara did.

There’s another important difference here to consider.

When Ceara was in the machine, the Pale Tree tried to save her, and Ceara basically went “DON’T TELL ME WHAT TO DO MOM” and pushed forward into danger. I’m pretty sure that’s when Mordy really got into her head proper and broke her.

The Sylvari player character on the other hand is shown to be on good terms with the Pale Tree, and wouldn’t do something like that. I think that we see her symbol in the vision with us is relevant, almost as she’s taking us safely through our little guided tour of the Alchemy. (Player is seen floating alone, but the falls into the Pale Tree symbol before they see anything really actiony. It’s like she scooped us up and carried us through the dragon orbs half of the vision under her protection.)

I’ve been trying to see what message you mean. Is it “I saw it .. the Eternal Alchemy?” Because that is the standard text for everyone.

Or did your screenshot link get changed after you posted somehow? There’s nothing Engineer specific in there that I can see.

The only things I’ve noticed that are profession/race specific in LS S2 is at the end of part 1 if you talk to Taimi with an Asuran about the Steam Minotaur head, you get a better explanation as to the “Flaws” of the steam creature.

In part 2, there is a book in the tunnel that all the professions just get the “ignore it” response while the Engineer gets the “read from an engineer’s point of view” response and you get more out of interacting with that item.

Funny thing though is that my Asuran IS my Engineer.

Scarlet was in the machine for DAYS, we spent… minutes. maybe 30 minutes to an hour at most (in terms of actual lore time.)

Every single PC gets that same line.

But yeah, if I was Rox and Co. and they just heard my Sylvari spout that when she got out of the machine, I’d be pretty dang worried too.

Plants + Flamethrower = Dangerous.

With the way the LS is going and Anet’s love for Game of Thrones, I fear that the devs will find a way to kill her off. I hope that doesn’t happen. Seriously.

We have enough stupid, pointless deaths as it is, for no other reason then to just have people dying.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying characters should /never/ die… It’s war, after all. But Game of Thrones style character killing turned me off completely to those books and even more so to the show.
