How to drop the puppet
Zerg it’s foot of course.
Yeah, probably going to be a zerg lagfest as with the Karka Queen.
Zerg it’s foot of course.
I agree with this. It will probably be quite powerful world boss, so something like dragons. And people of Tyria know that their only weakness are their feet so it only makes sense that this marionette has the same weakness. Zerging her foot is the best and probably the only solution.
A well placed banana peel, hilarity ensues.
We have to attack it with an equally large magnet. It will render the puppet immobile, disrupt all of Scarlet machines in the area, and it will also take care of the local steam creature problem.
Sadly, warriors and guardians will not be able to do the event….
There was this command that instantly blew up the watchknights…
…so I’m guessing Shout Warriors are the way to go.

I’m lurking too much at reddit right now, since I thought this was an “banana peel for scale” joke at first. >_>
Just need to cut the wires.
Just need to cut the wires.
This.
Currently playing Heart of Thorns.
Well, the most logical thing would be to cut the chains it holds it, maybe freeze its feet so it can’t move, or even better freeze the ground beneath its giant high heels and watch the fun :P
But Charr should totally bring their tanks and just nuke the kitten out of it. I mean they have a bunch of those lying around in Black Citadel might as well use em no?

I have another idea, instead of cutting the chains (which will not happen, I think) we can climb the chains and enter that flying thing!

Heh, good idea but you think that Scarlet won’t drop any bombs from below if you tried to do that? ;D
Give Iron Legion Engineers enough wrenches and the blasted thing will fall like dominoes.
We’ll have her diagonally with a royal flush, Yahtzee.
Or we could just do the Zapp Brannigan technique: send wave after wave of warriors at it until the kill level reaches its reset and the thing shuts down.
Don’t worry…we will most likely have conveniently placed asura cannons and if that doesn’t work..u go to the next logical step when fighting giants that can take your life with just a breath.
….u hit their feet. They don’t like that.
We will know… THE FEET. See what I did there?

Mhm,… sounds like a minigame.
just think of the zerg trying to get up the chains her flying fortress UFO of Doom, while she drops down bombs they have to avoid.
only the ones who are good at dodging these can get up there and fight her
but yeah. the whole design does not look very practical. it feels like a giant distraction. pun intended.
there are a lot of things they could do against it, as the only thing it has been going for it is its size (and whatever weaponry it possesses) and weight.
Ironicly the most efficient way of tripping a giant enemy is hindered by, in my eyes, her biggest flaw. the chains you have mentioned.
they seem to be the only thing giving it stability,
What i find weird is: The thing is right in front of the Priorys doorsteps.
How about them dishing out some scientific magic mumbo jumbo against it.
They should have an kitten nal of toys in their vault
Artillery from a distance. Large targets no reason to stack. Why not approach it from the air seems to have no anti air defenses.

How to use modern warfare in a fantasy environment
Short quest for a rust monster, then fire said monster at metal monstrosity with a trebuchet, then harvest the new metal deposit for a week.
The asura use some prototype golem suits that are larger than regular ones(bigger versions of omegas). The charr have their big siege tanks and maybe small teams with some kind of anti armor turrents that can punch through the puppet’s armor. But what I think might be awsome is if we lure the giant three headed wurm towards the battlefield and watch as to titans clash with eachother and whatever survives is what we go finish off.
I just don’t see how at a logical viewpoint that stabbing at this things feet would work because it’s made of metal. Blades, bullets, and magic should just bounce right off the kitten thing. Anti armor is the only thing that makes sense.
Spoiler Incoming
Rework the infinity ball to go back in the past to defeat Scarlet, therefore altering the future so that present is not happening.
Or
Use the infinity ball to bring yourself back from the future with a machine of your own.
Or
Use an Electro Magnetic Wave to shut down the puppet, and treb it from the flank.
Or
Go back in time and dig a trap door with a remote switch with the exact location of the puppet.
Or
Go back to the first seedlings and never let the Scarlet seed come to life.

you know… reading the different groups and their mobile weapons come onto the battlefield just sparks the idea of a combining robot, where the charr weapons attach to the golem megazord style.
However it does not work, the golemzord is overwhelmed but then Trahearn comes with an airship and attaches to the back, giving it an upgraded form which can defeat the puppet and fly us up to destroy Scarlet in her UFO
Personally I’m hoping is something about taking the chains one by one… maybe hacing the actual chains be separate targets, so you first have to kill the chains on the feet, rendering them useless, forcing it to go down a little bit so it can attack with the arms, and so on.
Actually reminds me of a movie I saw called “Strings” where the characters are puppets (as in, actual puppets, not portrayed by puppets), when a baby is born, it’s carved out of wood and strings come out of the sky, and the parents connect them to the baby giving it life, when they fight with swords (it’s a medieval setting), they try to cut the strings instead of the body, so if someone gets its hand sting cut, the hand becomes useless (cut the one attached to the head and they die)

wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.
If its made of iron I’ll mine it down with my molten alliance mining pick. I just hope my inventory is big enogh to put the whole thing in. xd
And what if the ‘puppet’ is on our side?
And what if the ‘puppet’ is on our side?
Then you’d be calling Scarlet your leader and have seen thousands of your mates killed by heroes.

So where has ArenaNet actually stated that the puppet is going to be a world boss?

The heroes of Tyria face a battle on two fronts, attacked by a giant wurm from beneath the Bloodtide Coast and a twisted marionette in the mountains of Lornar’s Pass. Prepare to take up arms, join with your friends and fellow heroes, and fight off the rising threats. (from gw2 site)

Also from massively’s preview:
“Players will have to band together and attempt to prevent Scarlet from performing periodic testing cycles; fail, and the inhabitants of the entire area will experience the marionette’s destructive power firsthand.”

Well then. I suppose that Marionette is going to get a lot of leg work as the periodic testing cycles will begin to fail after the first day or two.
While it would be cool to have a jumping puzzle to climb her up and cut the chains, there’s no evidence that GW2’s engine can handle players on moving platforms. In fact, because there are no moving platforms at all that you can stand on, I’m pretty sure GW2’s engine cannot handle them.
When you think about it, WoW’s ships and airships with 20+ people onboard and everyone moving smoothly with the ship gives pretty big credit to Blizzard coders.
