What an anticlimactic story this was.

When I took the stand to speak, I expected for my character to speak in his british sylvari voice. What did I get? Nothing but text, text, text and more text. I didn’t even say a single line in my voice. Zhaitan and the personal story were clearly so underwhelming that the disappointing jaw-dropping reaction caused my character to lose his voice forever.

It does not take effort to bring some voice actors back to say a couple lines. Trahearn didn’t even say anything! I have 2500 hours on my sylvari, I was actually excited to reunite with Trahearn again… so much for that.

Getting 10+ very busy voice actors again all at the same time for very few lines of dialogue is not plausible. It would be cool, though.

He used his old line about the “enemy is among us!” or something

I thought it was smart to at least recycle some of his dialogue, they could have used a few more lines, IMO.

“Greetings”
“Hello, Commander”
“Just who I wanted to see”

etc etc

While most of the PS player voice actors were pleasant, I actually like it better when my own characters stay silent.That way I can imagine their voices in my head, since most of them would sound different to the standard race/gender voice actors from the PS.

I actually dislike having my characters voiced if I can’t pick the voice.

It’s annoying to have all of my female humans sound the same despite them having different personalities and backgrounds and classes.

Unfortunately, it does. Considering the number of different races and gender combos there are for the PC, that’s a lot of voice actors to bring back and some of them may not even be in contact with Anet anymore, or are busy with other projects. Not to mention the cost for paying them, which puts unnecessary strain on their budget.

So while it would be nice to have the same experience as in the start of the game, it’s just a lot to ask.

this may be a dumb question, but was anyone at least somewhat captivated by being in the presence of ‘tyrias leaders’ before they started thinking.. yerp, mroar cutscenes, voice actors and everyone call my player exalted hero of all eras!?

Do you have any idea how hard would be it be to get some of those?

For example, the human male voice, Nolan North, is busy being in everything .

No, no, no. Forget that.

What we need is Star Trek’s Holodeck-grade voice simulation. The actor talks a bit to a microphone, the computer can say anything with their voice with perfectly natural voice.

Then that problem will be solved. Until then, you’ll have to make do with text all over the place in games this size.

NPCs talking in voiced dialogue to one another before switching to “text mode” to talk to the voiceless PC incredibly jarring…and incredibly disappointing. If free content means cut corners, I’ll gladly fork over money for a paid expansion.

Yeah there are a LOT of voice actors they’d have to bring in, and there’s a surprising amount of dialogue. Believe it or not, people have other things to do than sit around and wait for ANet to ask for their help again.

If you all are going to complain about how “disappointing” this free content is, then stop playing and pray for an expansion.

Meanwhile I’m gonna enjoy all the free stuff I’m getting because I had a lot of fun in this last episode.

First of all, depsite what you might think, this game and its content is not free, only your perception of it. Do you seriously think that Anet staff come to work for nothing? This games content is payed for by those of us to spend money in the gem store and more than likely a significant bulk of it is now coming from the subscription based game format in China(I think thats what they use).

Those people who complain have a right to do so. If you dont agree with their opinions than you are of course entitled to voice your opinion. However teling people to go play another game is a shortsighted and selfish attiude just beacuse you disagree. If all those people who complain spend money in the gemstore just like moi, leave the game, then you will no longer get "Free"content.

As a business manager for over 15 years I learned that you can see a complaint as a customer moaning or a customer trying to improve your business. Complaints are a way to help improve the game imo.
