Mordy's General is not the Pale Tree!!!
There’s another Pale Tree out there. But rather than Ventari’s tablet, it has Mordremoth. It’s sending Malyck to say hello.
(And hopefully the Pale Tree sends the Iron Legion to say hello back with hundreds of flamethrowers. Can’t wait for that boss fight.)

Knowing ANet, the flamethrowers are stationary and you spam 2 to fire them.
As someone in love with sylvari and having one as a main I have always hated the theory about the Pale Tree being connected to an Elder Dragon, unless there would somehow be a good elder dragon… but yeah.
Untill we see it, it is all theories anyways. Definitely looks like… something… will crash the party… and there have been hinted at a death… anyone but not the Pale Tree please… kill Jennah for all I care, just not my mother tree.
I doubt that the dragons champion, which I think is good assumption to be the party crasher, will become a perma world boss in Caledon. Why? Because Caledon is a starter zone and it would be a bad place to put what ought to be one of the harder world bosses. Maybe in a zone bordering Grove/Caledon, below Dry Top. So it is still close on the map, but in a late game zone rather than what is the first for anyone starting with a sylvari.

Well good and bad are subjective. The Dragons just have motives. You don’t call a wolf evil because you put yourself in front of its food while it’s starving, that’s just not how nature works. That being said, if the theory were true it’s simply due to intervention just as the Forgotten approached Glint, a seed was found and taken by Ronan and Ventari went on further to nurture the tree.
It’s entirely possible.
Why do people keep assuming that Mordremoth will only have one champion?
Does no one remember Blightghast?
All of the dragons are likely to have several high ranking draconian champions.
My take on the Sylvari as dragon minions theory is that it only made sense if the Pale Tree was intended as a sleeper cell but was raised in such a way that it can’t be controlled by Mordremoth any more.

I’d think it no different than the Keepers in Mass Effect. Through the seed being found and nutured outside of Mord’s plans, the tree imprinted on Ventari which changed its whole persona. People often underestimate parenting skills, you can teach a pit bull to be graciously loving and gentle.

You said “the general”. Singular. Pretty obvious.

How true…the general….and I also said Mordy’s first in command…meaning also that he could have lower ranked numerals under him.

The best example being Jormag.
Remember, we’re fighting a Claw of Jormag. Not the Claw of Jormag. I do not think the lore specify how many Claws there are. There can be 5. Or 50. Or 5,000,000 Claws of Jormag judging by how many times its being killed daily.
There’s absolutely nothing saying there arent a million Pale Trees scattered across the western continent, just waiting to unleash the chaos… the Pale Tree just happen to be one that apparently have other ideas and went its own way. Its definetly a dragon champion – the Sylvari being its “incorruptable” minions. Well, former champion is a better description.
Well given Tequatl and Brightghast, in Arah you see plenty of these Dragon Champions flying around assaulting the air ships. They’re less difficult of course being that it’s a story mission limited to a small group of people. Names given to the former(s) are just nicknames for specific Champions that siege two specific areas.

Haha… ANet makes 1 kitten end-boss fight and people never let them forget about it :P
Pale tree will die and we will use the seed that we still have after making the back piece to plant it and grow the pale tree 2.0
I’ve found myself leaning towards the idea that the Pale Tree is a dragon minion for some time now. It would explain a few things, like her ability to create numerous ‘children’ who seem to serve no purpose in her own life cycle and can’t reproduce on their own. Especially when you consider that what the sylvari can do is shape other plants, and even the land, to suit their purposes. It’s a lot like how the dragons corruption works.
However that doesn’t mean she’s evil or that the sylvari are. We know from Glint that dragon champions have a degree of free will and can be converted. As other people have said it’s entirely possible that Ronan, Ventari and other people the Pale Tree has encountered have changed her perceptions and ideals in much the same way they changed Glint. Even more so in fact because this was happening from when the Pale Tree first sprouted, whereas Glint was actively serving her master for a long time before changing her allegiance.
On a related note it wouldn’t surprise me if this makes the Pale Tree the leader who is attacked at the summit. We already know it’s going to be in The Grove and the dragon sending another champion after a ‘traitor’ makes more sense than the dragon knowing and caring that a bunch of punny mortals are talking about it.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
Now that I think about it, Glint was surrounded by eggs as though guarding them as well. While only one proved to be a healthy newborn, this does reflect the same similarity that the cave Ronan found seeds in. How else would a “jungle dragon” reproduce if not through seeds. While reproduction for EDs is anyones guess, it does make me wonder how children come to be. I do think the Pale Tree(s) are products of Mordremoth, the implications are there, and for whatever reason (Ronan and Ventari) the Pale Tree in The Grove grew outside of its original design.
Whether the Pale Tree is a champion or not, I do think it’s like a factory that itself became self-aware.
