http://gw2tno.com/ – The Nameless Ones [TNO]
(edited by AfterXII.2761)
I noticed you guys only put in one waypoint in The Silverwastes. I’m sure this was intentional, however I was curious for the reasoning behind this.

Haven’t seen it yet, but maybe this encourages people to actually travel/explore around solo or with friends to do all the new events/chests there. Seems like a nice alternative to people just waypointing instantly somewhere and puts a nice atmosphere of adventure into the new area.
My first impression is: It’s that way so that people can’t just waypoint around to defend/attack stuff, but instead have to coordinate to successfully complete the zone events.
Its probably supposed to make things harder.
kitten budget cuts at the pact…..
It doesnt make it harder, or make it feel larger, its just annoying.
Mounts incoming don’t worry.
It’s part of Trahearne’s fitness program for the Pact. They’ve been sitting around doing nothing for so long, that Trahearne is making running into the new workout routine!
I am pretty sure this was brought up in a CDI, personally, I am quite glad that this new map only has one WP – means not getting caught by a massive group of mobs is slightly dangerous now.

yes, terribly annoying, like a lot of other things in this map.
Trying to use some WvW-mechanics seems nice but it´s completely overdone, you have to hurry up to get even walls repaired, while doors stay broken and tons of Mordrems pure in, very seldom to get to some siege-weapons – and then you end up for example with Mortars in north of Indigo-cave which can´t shoot even at half of their full range because they will hit kind of a rock-bridge over the northern door.
Anet at it´s best, some nice ideas, bad execution.
So you get to run and enjoy the world for once instead of porting around like Nightcrawler on speed. Oh the humanity.
I do believe some will be added in later patches, with us taking a bit of Mordy’s breathing space. Right now, the way it is makes perfect sense story-wise. We just established a base in Silverwastes. Discovering that “oh hey, Asura were here last night setting up portystones before we let the first fighting force in” would be weird, cheap and rather stupid.
Annoying, yes. It does make dying mean something though.

Or they will bring in custom temp. waypoints into the gemshop.
Ran into a situation where i was defeated near a base, and something was hitting me with enough damage even in that state that it was impossible for others to revive me…
Did all you guys miss the part where you buy waypoints with badges when you advance the meta to a certain point and they get built

Not annoying imo, making it harder since players need to rez others now instead of just asking to WP back since they wouldn’t come in time.
Also the door gets repaired when a dholyak gets to castle.
I was only defending blue for 3 hours but it feel pretty balanced with the aereal attacks.

“enjoying the world” and “mordrem mobs” do not go well together.
And yes, mortars in indigo are indeed placed really badly. The main opponents they might have been used against (aoe field plants, and siege husks) are placed in an area that is covered by that rock roof. Having them manned actually weakens the defence, because it takes away people that would be better used elsewhere.

On one hand, it makes sense, the Pact just got into that area so having waypoints all over already really wouldn’t make much sense in territory filled with the Mordrem. However, it can still be irritating to die and have to run all the way back.

Huh? I never saw it do that and we got the meta complete several times (thats how you spawn the underground bosses).
Also, if you talk with tactician(?) Tivva up in Trahearne’s ‘office’ (under the vista near the only waypoint) she says something about putting waypoint in the forts at some point, when they have control over the area. So hopefully at some point we start to get more waypoints in the zone.
I like only one waypoint. Dying matters.
Multiple waypoints would just degrade it into the massive zergfest that is all of the rest of PvE. I like that you DON’T see:
Mapchat #1: X is up
#2: WP?
#1: [Loot Champ Camp]
Zerg follows, ensuring that whatever the event was is now degraded to:
a) can I tag it before it dies?
b) a video card melting array of effects spam
There are no other way points because Mordremoth, even with Taimi’s mechanism to change the calibration of WP magic frequencies, is able to “corrupt” and contest them. So close to Mordremoth’s corruption would inevitably lead to poor result trying to establish WP’s so soon. That and the map is newly established, so it stands to reason that there would be no waypoints now since the battlefront has only just been staged.
It also encourages exploration on map by foot, as well as encouraging people to cooperate with one another as an MMO usually does, instead of “Every player for themselves, but let’s zerg too!”

It is a warzone.
In-lore the WPs needs to be set-up and maintained. That is rather hard in a place where they are under constant attack and keeps changing hands multiple times per hour.
There are no waypoints because we’re still building. As we settle into the Silverwastes, we’ll establish more waypoints.
You’re supposed to upgrade those 4 fortresses.
You get to put waypoints in there when you upgrade them.
Exactly like WvW. You will need to escort those yaks.

That was my understanding too. Haven’t seen it happen yet to confirm, but it was my belief
