Swift Wings achievement not doable
I did it yesterday, took around 3 tires since I used my condimancer…
It is doable but it needs decent dps (zerk would be the best, but not a have to) and a good plan (when solo). My suggestion is go to do the 3 npcs at the tower first, talk to the 2 on the ground, then move to the water and help another npc there fighting with a spinning mob, after these npcs are saved, go back to the tower to clear mobs again and talk to the npc on the top.
This will save you 4 npcs if done right, the reaming ones are the two searchers and one soldier, they will most likely already killed the mobs around them by you reach them.
Hope it helps.

and BTW…if you fail the achievement, you can relog and start again…the achivement will rewarded after all npcs are saved (no need to finish the whole story).
Also, group with your buddy will make the achievements easier…much more easier.

Although I’ve yet to try Swift Wings, it seems incomprehensible to make ANet cater to defensive/offensive scaling in an instance for level 80 only when they recently made it possible to change builds/skills at any time.
It’s been noted before that different parts of the game (and PvP) require different build sets to change to. A perfect example was the QUEEN’S GAUNTLET (heightened for importance).
Now this is not saying go out and buy all new ascended gear, but it won’t be needed either.
Good luck.
You know you could also very simply change your ranger build just for that story and switch it back, right?
Or group with friends and do it together?
Play the way you want, but adapt to the incoming fight
Ya, while I understand how you feel, the phrase “play how you want” does not mean you can, say, choose absolutely any non-optimal build for any given situation. If you need DPS in an instance, you should have at least a weapon set that will give it to you. If you need high health to outlast some boss or mobs, then you need to respec for that. Playing how you want does not mean tra-la-la-ing all over Tyria expecting to wipe the floor with ONE build.
Some options:
1) Do it in a group
2) Get some zerk gear (it doesn’t need to be ascended!) for situations like that
3) Switch your playing style or your main char or just redo all the story with another char
You want the enemies to have less health / less damage for a tank build?
How about tank: less health / MORE damage and zerk: more health / LESS damage? Would make more sense, because more tanky → you can take more damage than a zerker.
They can’t lower BOTH values for tanks (or rise both for zerkers) – cause that would assume that tankers are worse than zerks in every aspect and then there’s no reason to get a tank (why do you like them more btw?)

Exactly. This is an achievement, so it might require a bit of effort or at least getting out of one’s comfort zone. Nothing wrong with playing only a single (inferior) build because one likes it. But just being handed every achievement while doing so is simply not realistic. This is PvE so it isn’t as competitive as PvP, but one should expect to at least actually have to compete against the environment, which might require some adjustment or adaptation.
Just change your build. It’s free to do its it’s not a big deal. I change my build/gear all the time. I’m just glad there are not a lot of armour sets I like in GW2. In GW I had 13 sets on my main. Plus weapons to go with them. I only have 3 on my main and 2 on my guard in GW2.

I made a video guide for soloing it, in case it helps:

Short version also: Do them in the right order, it helps a lot.
Also Dulfy suggests you do it in a group, so have you tried that as well?
I used a lot of control like knockback and fear and such and was able to get them to focus aggro on me after which I led them away. Got the achievement first try (after some frustration of looking for the one dude stashed away inside the tower). Blinds are also a fun way to do things but that only works on the wolves because everything else just spams dot aoes.
I’ve tried this one on 5 different characters, most of them in DPS builds with zerker gear. One even in full ascended. And I just cannot get it to work, even doing it ‘in the right order’. Every time there’s at least one NPC dead and unrezzable, even if you run straight to the tower first.
As to ‘just do it in a group’… some very rude words come to mind. First of, this is a PERSONAL story arc, and it’s perfectly reasonable to think the achievements ought to be possible to get solo. Even on suboptimal builds. This should be about having fun, not about having the best build-and-gear available.
Then there’s the fact that grouping sometimes simply isn’t POSSIBLE. I had to work on the days everyone was doing it. And now there’s no one around anymore at my times of play. So gg… I’d love to get the achievement, but after 15+ attempts I’m about burned out on it.

But the thing is.. it IS soloable, just like many people above proved it.
It might be challenging, but it’s not impossible.
I cannot speak as to the difficulty of the achievement yet. But to the OP, have you even considered changing your build for this situation? Achievements should be more difficult and perhaps require you to alter your strategy, and are also completely optional. If you had already tried a different build and gone full DPS or whatever and still cannot beat it, then there may be some room for complaint and sympathy.
What if there was a jumping puzzle which had a jump which required swiftness to make. (remember, JPs are completely optional, just like achievements) Lets say you had no access to swiftness with your current build. Should you come here asking for a nerf instead of just finding a way to grant yourself swiftness?

Is the achievement still bugged? I don’t really want to have to go through the instance again just to find out its still bugged…
Please give us a keyring…
Not all achievements are doable by every build of every character. It’s not a new concept. If you haven’t already come to terms with this fact you most certainly don’t have enough AP to have a legitimate reason to care about having this one. This is the most illogical thread I’ve seen in minutes.

Exactly, sure Anet says you can play as you want…. and YOU CAN. You may not be able to reach every achievement but you can still play like you want. They are achievements for a reason, you need to do certain things in a certain way to do complete it. You need to kill things fast, not get into a pillow fight.

all the points i made are valid and they should fix that stuff
No.
All the points we’ve made and tips we gave you are valid and they don’t need to fix anything.
You, on the other hand, probably need to fix the way you play.
I CAN play naked with a level 1 dull sword and no additional skills if I want to. That doesn’t mean I’m going to whine and ask for a nerf because I’m dying all the time.
