I’ll start off with what I thought was good about the patch. Firstly, the map itself from an environment point of view is good. The sandstorm adds a nice unique touch although the map itself is much smaller than expected. The “story” is slightly better in the fact that u had to search for clues about what happened and in this respect, there was almost a tradional rpg element to it. The scene in scarletts apartment was somewhat intriguing.

However, the patch has also shown that MUCH has still to be learned and bafflingly, many of the flaws from season one were present from the get go. While these first few days, the map will be massively populated, once everyone has their achieve, I suspect it will be largely abandoned. Then what? And while it’s great that you can do the story in your own time..how the hell are most players supposed to get some of these achievements on their own?

The flaw of using the crystals to traverse the area becomes very tiresome, exceedingly quickly. I’m hoping that once this patch is over, that some sort of vertical navigation will become available like the grove as I assume the crystals are not infinite? We had several of our guildies rage quit because of the latency issues combined with the crystal based jumping today, so not a great start for them.

Secondly, once again it seems like certain tasks will be more difficult pending on which class you use. Once again the content becomes quite breezeworthy if you are a Guard or a Warrior. For example, how will necros with no stability do the frog achieve?

Dialogue wise, it merely seemed a continuation of the last few episodes of LS1 to me. And Once I have done it once, I do NOT want to have to sit through all that npc dialogue again and yet again we have unskippable dialogue. The whole Kas and Jory thing..is just annoying and why does Belinda have a completely different accent to her sister (on a side note)? The only character who is remoltey interesting is Taimi…..The rest are largely exposition fodder and have all the appeal of a lengthy trahearne Monologue.

The new recipes were at first intriguing until I saw that the stuff you make with them cannot be sold…which means they will remain largely irrelevant.

I guess the main thing is that it’s the same old pattern of 2 week grind then go back to what you were doing..How is this ANY different from the previous incarnations? Where is the incentive to return unless u want those matts for food u cant sell?

So overall, I would say a 5.5/10 return for living story..6 at a push mainly because I think anet WILL open up the rest of the area…But as an opening chapter to an important season where a lot was riding on it..I think it’s pretty average and certainly NOT the knockout it really needed to be.

I disagree. I would enjoy the LS significantly less if they changed the things you want changed. Opinions are opinions I suppose.

Of course there will be less people on the map after the LS is over, what did you expect? That is what you get with a permanent map. How many people did you find running around brisband wildlands before this patch? People will still go there for the achievements, and to harvest the abundant ancient wood and ori nodes and to get the recipes they need.

Traveling around the map vertically opens up a whole new dimension and makes the map much bigger for its area. It also makes it a fun puzzle. This was the second best part of the update. Not every map should be like this, but it is amazing that they were able to do it for at least one map.

Every task in the game is completed more easily by a warrior or a guardian, this is just status quo. Hopefully one day that will change, I agree with this point.

The story was the best part of the update. It was substantial, intriguing, and flowed nicely. I will admit that the forced gay agenda is tiresome and annoying though. I wish they would develop the characters without having to scream we’re a lesbian couple! every other line. The story was leaps and bounds ahead of S1. Also how could it NOT be a continuation of S1? Scarlet just destroyed half of tyria and unleashed a dragon… Did you expect us to just forget that completely and go pick flowers in a field or something?

I’d say 8.5/10. Points off for forced lesbian couples and lack luster rewards.

I said dialogue..not story..learn to read if you are going to come back with a smart alek response. And to me, the dialogue was the same cheesy crap we got from LS1.

Just the second day afetr launch, most people have already doen everythign there is to do in that map. If they honestly think that this is gonna cut it for another year, they are badly mistaken. This drip feed of content is NOT WORKING anet. We need a substantial content release and not these snippets that can be completed ina few hours at a CASUAL pace.
