Q:
Ascended gear account bound ?
A:
I’ve been a little unsure about this as well. In the original post talking about crafting ascended gear, one sentence said new ascended items would be account bound just like the what we have so far, perhaps they were referring to drops? Because in another sentence they said that the time gating on ascended crafting would provide more value on the market for crafters, which makes it sound like if you craft it, it’s not immediately account bound.
quote: “This tier is time-constrained, so each item can only be made once per day in order to help give high-level crafters their own economy of items to build and sell that retain their value and rarity.”
and quote: “These weapons and armor will also be able to be found as rare drops from locations in the world. Ascended weapons and armor will remain account-bound like other ascended gear.”
Bumping this. Would also like to know.
It will be bound to your account after acquisition.

after crafting ? or using ?
I believe the accended items are account bound until equipped. The t7 materials can be sold on the TP.

really? dont lie. YOU LIAR!
I imagine they will be account-bound on creation and then soulbound on use.

The crafted Ascended gear will be account bound. The crafting materials will not be though.

The whole point of time gating is to slow acquisition of said gear. If they went as far as including such mechanics to make sure regearing will take us as long as (in)humanly possible, they are not going to allow a TP bypass.

At least not right away – by having a TP bypass people will burn themselves out farming to make ascended items to sell on the TP, or burn themselves out farming to get enough gold to buy ascended items off he TP.
I once thought time constrained / time gated content was not fun, but looking at the alternative, having the chance to burn out and experiencing that on WvW, I decided it wasn’t fun, but it was less not fun than having a burn out.

For me it’s the opposite. What’s burning me out is remembering to tick off all those daily checkboxes. There’s no fun in that.

I think Anet does a disservice to the value of crafting in their game by making these items account bound. The time gating of crafting them would guarantee a monetary profit from actually making them vs. just selling the mats.
I think the time gated part is related to the advanced materials/parts used to make them, materials/parts that sound like they can be TPed. My guess is if you want one right away you can buy all the parts on the TP and make it yourself right then and there. It wouldn’t make sense to do it any other way, time gating and account locking the more advanced material crafting steps would seriously limit the consumption of earlier resources causing them to drop in price and eventually become nearly worthless. There is no other way to create an economy for t7 aside from making the finished product’s sellable as well.
IE each piece of ascended might require 5 “insignias” or the equivalent, but you can only craft one per day, they can however be bought and sold on the TP. This means people not currently attempting to make their set and craft and sell them, using t7 resources, keeping them in demand.
No alts for you! I am expecting account bound, soulbound on use (like temple gear), although purely account bound would be awesome.
