There was no guide when we did it. We triggered about every trap to find the right way, so the death count is probably in the thousands.

Congrats. I’ll keep that in mind when I put together TM for the next world.

Congrats for sure. But is it really easy if all you did was bang your head against the wall over and over again? Time and Patience for sure. I am not sure skill is required for much with the Infinite continue coins.
That being said, of course I bought it. Would be really difficult without it.
Edit: Thanks Josh :/

There were places like the coin house that require actual thinking to complete.
We took like 30 minutes to figure out the trap patterns and write them down so that we could get to the bottom together with the coin. Once we got it, that part actually felt too short like there should be more floors.
But that’s only one example among many.
All in all, awesome work Josh. Hope the next worlds push the difficulty even more!

just finished world 1 for the green skin, gonna go for world 2 tommorrow. My buddy and I started at 110 coins and went down to about 20ish. Huge props on the final frog boss, his mechanics went from meh in normal to holy god the lilypads on both side are trapped oh no!
Definitely the highlight of GW 2 for me I’m a huge sucker for jump puzzles, and this one is devious. Gonna go tommorrow probably after getting more bauble bubbles and coins, and try for round 2.

TM for World3 or 4 needs some vorpal bunnies. I can really see Lord Vanquish keeping a couple as a pets, because their evilness can match his own.
Bonus points for players who survive and kill the dreaded Vorpal Bun-nado!

Please modify your thread title then… death count in the thousands and ‘it was too easy’ sounds very silly!
But gratz on beating the difficult content, good job!! But difficulty level is still there, as you can tell from all the other threads, and if you don’t fix your thread title, I’ll take it as you meaning to troll everyone with a little “nyeah nyeah, i did it and you can’t”

In Tribulation mode, you expect to die a lot and anyone who enjoys TM knows that death in there is not failure, but instead it is seen as progression. So no, high death count does not mean it was difficult. Its all a matter of perspective.

We didn’t want to troll anyone. It was fun from beginning to end.
Danigar said it exactly right.
Nevertheless, it would be nice to see some more difficulty progression across the next worlds.

Since this is my favorit update up to now, of course I bought the Infinite Continue Coin to support Arena Net.
But if you want to play tribulation mode, you should buy it anyway. It’s also good for experimenting and searching for secret stuff because you will die more often than if you were just running straight to the end.
As already meantioned, we didn’t use a guide because it’s much more fun to find out yourself. Nevermind that there was no guide at the time.
If you have a lot of free time, I definitely recommend doing it that way.

Okay, I’m not criticizing you for buying it. But don’t you think it’s a bit odd to make a post saying that the hard mode of SAB was “too easy” and that it needs to be harder after buying a gem store item to make it easier for you?

The coin doesn’t do anything to the difficulty. It doesn’t make you jump better, it doesn’t make the invisible traps visible, it has no effect on difficulty. All it does is saves you time. Its a convenience item no different than exp boosters or the infinite gathering tools.

Like others, I think it’s funny that you would refer to it as too easy… Since by your own admission you bought infinite lives and died thousands of times

I think what he meant was that figuring out the traps to go to the next save point was sometimes to easy. Tribulation mode difficulty is not about dying (this is expected and part of it, if you read the comments about the design philosophy), the difficulty is about the traps and figuring out the way you need to take.

So basically you bought the P2W item and it let you win… SURPRISE!
I find the mode fun and challenging, but complaining about how easy it is after having to buy a P2W item to do it is kind of silly imo.
in Super Adventure Box: Back to School
Posted by: Bevian.8973
Well, easy isn’t a work I’d use to express TM but I can understand the confusion in it’s use. Even with an infinite coin this isn’t easy, but you don’t have to worry about lives anyway. It does, however, horrendously test your patience, determination and memory to an extreme. For those who are willing and able to keep their inner rage monster in check, this can be construed as easy in the same way that any game is easy after you put many hours into it. However, you do need a certain frame of mind to complete this and a substantial amount of time needs to be invested in it.

Yeah, if I didn’t have the infinite continue coin, I would have given up. Have only done Zone 1 and 2 of World 1 so far. Haven’t decided whether or not to do world 2. I really disliked zone 2 of World 2 on normal, not even sure how I manage it in TM.
Congrats. I’ll keep that in mind when I put together TM for the next world.

The thing to take in mind is that the more options we have to getting from point A to point B the move fun you can have killing us. The more constrained the path the less you can do to interfere, short of making us rush.
how many deaths? Did you look at a walk through? If you died more than 3 times I wouldn’t say It was overly easy.
Three is absurd. You’ll get three just finding out there was a trap there. If you get under a hundred in a zone then it was pretty easy. That’s what I was doing in World 1. Granted I think World 2 Zone 1 may be as big as world 1 so that value might need working on.

I don’t think they were trolling or intending to with the title post. I think it’s wonky they would say such a thing when they died “thousands of times”. I use that quote loosely because I am sure very few of us keep actual track.
I say it is difficult because of the number of times you die. I understand that with proper time and patience you’ll make it through regardless of the “iCoin” or not. But without it; it would require a lot more time investment. Meaning that the trial and error part of TM is actually difficult. It’s a puzzle and you’ve got to figure out where to go. If it were an “easy” puzzle then you wouldn’t die and the path would be clear.
If it was “difficult” then you would die while trying to “Trial and error” through it. I am not talking about jumping skill here, I am talking about solving the puzzle.
As it was said above. The coin saves you time. But it saves you a lot of time when it comes to trial and error. To the point where it doesn’t matter when and if you die on part X. Or at a boss etc… I’ll simply zerg him until I win, or zerg a path until I win etc. It’s true I could farm 100+ coins and It would simply be a time sink, this allows me to pass it. But it also makes it easier for many players because of this.

Edit:
Kal:
3 is how many normal lives you get. How is that absurd? 100 deaths is easy? Really? I find that if you die 100 times to anything that it was a challenge to complete. I am not sure why you find dying 100 times to anything easy. Most players will easily cave in far before 100 deaths.

You P2W claimers are idiots. I don’t care how many continues you have, if you aren’t good enough to get through to the next checkpoint then you’re SOL anyway. How does having infinite continues make it P2W. If you are bad at it you will just be doing the same 100m death run over and over until you quit.
It’s like you guys honestly think the continue coin makes it so you don’t trigger traps or it creates Infantile Mode rainbows everywhere.
YOU STILL HAVE TO MAKE IT THROUGH AND THAT TAKES SKILL!
That’s like saying someone that can shred like a pro on the guitar is only good because they had free guitar lessons from someone, versus someone who had to pay for lessons.
“You’re really not that good, the free lessons magically made you a better player! P2W!! LOLnoob!!!”
Idiot logic.

Where do you get 3 from? You either get 1 life, good for 2 runs, or 5 lives from a coin good for 6 runs.
The reason 100 deaths is easy is because we’re operating on a whole separate scale than it appears you’re prepared for. It has taken me 10 deaths just to realize I’m not allowed to take a specific path and need to find a different way around. It’s taken me 3 deaths just to mark the boundaries of spike traps to know exactly where I have to avoid.
Dying three times in a dungeon means the encounter is difficult because I gave it my all but I wasn’t able to stay up. Dying several times in Tribulation Mode is nothing because you don’t get hurt you just die, instantly.
I didn’t even get out of World 1 Zone 1 Area 1 in less than 3 deaths. Surrounded by spikes with a cloud just on the other side and something weird on the tree. I assume going toward the cloud is stupid so I go the other way. I climb the tree no problem. I get the thing and jump down onto a hedge in the spikes. Giant clouds appear next to me between where I started and the cloud. I don’t move, they charge up and I fall in the spikes, death one.
I do it over, this time jumping off the hedge immediately. Flag waypoint. I start heading for the other end, the ground isn’t there I fall in lava, death two.
From the way point I move in a different direction, touch a flower, it blows up, death three.
I haven’t even made it to the middle of the area and I’ve exceeded your expectations.

I also just finished it, but sayin that it was too easy is just being a kitten towards those who are struggling. It’s not too easy, it’s rather difficult and w2 takes a lot of time to complete. Especially on your first run (with or without a video guide).
You need the infinite coin though, I did a lot of it without a guide but even with a guide you WILL die a lot of times from unexpected traps or even from failed jumps.

ICC doesn’t make TM easy, it only reduces downtime. It doesn’t even make it easier, it just means you’re in Moto Hell half as often and you don’t have to stop occasionally to resupply coins. It allows you to do it in one run per zone rather than a couple. Once you’ve gotten past an area you’re pretty much good for it anyway.

People need to look up what pay to win actually means. Pay to Win is where you buy gear that is ONLY available by purchase with cash and gives the player an advantage over others. For example, if ascended gear were only available for purchase with cash, that would be PTW. Cosmetic skins would not be. I would also consider purchasable Gem Store items that speed up the timers for ascended crafting.
Infinite continue coin is not a PTW item. For one, you get ZERO advantage over other players from playing SAB. Two, you can easily farm 7 bauble bubbles in 15-20 min from world 1 and convert to coming us tokens netting you 35 continue coins which give 6 useable lives (counting when you have 00). That’s 210 lives which is more than enough. The majority of players also rely on guides, which now there are plenty of, taking away the actual trial and error.

Finished it a few times myself and after the first time the difficulty of the whole thing goes way down. The first time I did it, doing the whole thing took 7-8 hours, after the first run it took nowhere near as long.
I dont agree that it needs making easier in the slightest, after what was said in release about tribulation mode about it being for a specific set of people you should stick with that as its probably the most worthwhile thing I have done in this game so far in terms of challenge faced. The ICC is nowhere near P2W, you have a whole month to finish TM for the action box, you can farm coins for an entire week and then go through TM using them (the ICC makes it more convenient sure, but you have the time to get through this without using it).
It would be sad to see something that actually had a challenge to it be destroyed because some people cant get it done.

Even if it were infinite health that would actually make it less useful because Tribulation Mode kills you, period. Your hearts need not apply.
