Looks like they only tested it on human models. Kind of disappointing.
I’m hoping they’ll address it asap. It is quite unfortunate seeing as how the skin itself is quite good.

Well..the legendary shield is like this as well, and it’s hasn’t been fixed since the game launched. So yeah.. guess it’s not a priority.
All games have clipping if any decent item or race selection exists. GW1 had tons of clipping issues, most were never resolved. They’re not an issue. If anything, you can see it as proof of how vast this game is. Super Mario never had clipping issues :p

Sure but clipping is relatively unimportant. I personally never cared because I know it’s virtually impossible to avoid and/or fix.

is it also weird that the backpack isn’t too high up my character’s back? i thought the pack would sit higher, because the ascended book i skinned sat between her shoulders.

it’s only preview i believe, most shields do that in preview, while they look fine if you actually wield em
The preview window’s positioning for wielding anything is awful. It doesn’t even use the proper wielding stance for any of the races and just kind of tosses the weapon on a character. Weapons stick straight out from the hands and sometimes go into the arm, and shields/focus/etc. weapons just kind of lay in/on the arm.
Your charr shouldn’t have the shield poking him in the face like GZ’s asura, either. I do not have it to prove that, however.

That’s good to see. On the other hand they were still lazy it’s just not in the way I thought. lol
Clipping usually occurs in one form or another with certain Hand Armor/Shoulder Armor. On a female Norn with the Cultural Tier 3 Hand Armor, there is a tiny part that clips through, but luckily for me, due to using the White Gold dye, it is barely possible to see it. Still, if the shields were moved out from the hand ever so slightly, it would help fix certain clipping issues, even if it wouldn’t with all the Hand Armors.
The same goes for the Super Shield when it’s on the back, if it was moved ever so slightly away from the back, it wouldn’t clip as much with at least the Norn Cultural Tier 3 Head Armor horns. Unfortunately I doubt they will ever get around to fixing how ponytails clips through these shields though, but I can live with that, though a fix would be to not animate the ponytail if it is obstructed by a shield, combined with shields being moved away from the back ever so slightly. Would love a option for shields/two-handed weapons on the back hiding the Back Item however, e.g., if I was using the Super Backpack, and having the Super Shield/Greatsword/Long Bow on the back, it would hide the Backpack until I draw my Shield/weapon.
