What does the candle do?
the light helps in some of the darker areas (first “dark area” is woods in zone 2 but zone 3 is where it comes in handy)
It also burns down the sticky plants in zone 3 allowing you to pass unmolested.

There will be more dark areas in further worlds and other uses as well. We planned out the entire 4 worlds and all the skills and upgrades at the very beginning of the project so while some things might seem kinda pointless or under-powered now, they won’t always be.
you can burn carpets inside the shops too (those that have it). The secret shop in one of the green waterfalls in zone 3 (where you can buy your first extra bag), you can burn the carpet, and then toss a bomb to get to yet another hidden room.

Also make the candle burn small bushes to reveal hidden stuff.
It is like a lamp unto your feet. There are some dark areas and it does help a tiny bit in them.
Please make it a torch skin… and let it keep it’s ambient glow, please. I know the largest mad king book has an ambient glow, and I know I can use an aoe targeting field to see the outlines of ledges in a dark jumping puzzle. I would still like a torch that actually gave off ambient light. Since this one already does…

The lost woods area is before you get the candle, so making it darker so that it “requires” it would be kind of a jerk move.

Not sure what this is all about. All torches in the game have an ambient glow already, at least when drawn (a few even glow when sheathed, though I’m not sure if thats intended). I’m looking forward to a Torch skin in the future, but definately hoping its a Super skin and not just the Candle from the game, would look kind of odd in the real world and the Super skins are awesome.
As for what the Candle is good for…. personally, the fact that it burns the plants in Zone 3 is plenty to make it useful, IMO. Its even required to get the achievement for avoiding the plants.
Try using it in zone 2 when in the dark forest, it will light up your world! A good place to see it’s effect.
the most noticeable “dark zone” currently is the little area in zone 3 where your heading to the motos breath jumping shrooms, dark enough that on your first run through of that area at least the candle helps you not take a swampy bath.
But yeah currently its main use is clearing sticky plants away.
