30 boxes = nothing good
Thanks for adding to the problem. It’s these reasons why Anet will never get rid of stupid things like RNG chests. Because people keep buying them up.
Go ahead and buy more. Don’t expect anything though. Don’t you love when they lock new content behind RNG (or lottery if you want to call it that)?

Address the result of the boxes is a way to light the issue with their drops.

Excuse you, but you’re wrong. They add this new content to convince people to purchase it to help pay for the FREE CONTENT. The content that was added to the game in the way of new Dynamic Events, story lines, extended locations, free back-slot items, new mini-games, new WvW items, and more. All these things are free and paid for by the Gem Store items; because without that Gem Store we would not have monthly content updates.
As another to look at it, as an adult, understand that you’re still getting far more for a $1 spent in the Gem store on chests than you are getting in putting that $1 in a slot machine for a single roll with the outcome of 0.
P.S. I know I’m going to get slapped with “but why don’t they just sell the weapons directly on the gem store for a set price? I’d buy them that way.”. So, I’ll explain it as this: Part of being in an MMORPG is becoming a unique individual by way of look, style, and play. If everyone was able to obtain these weapons equally, nobody would look unique and they’d have no rarity to them. (i.e. see how everyone in L.A. is right now either wearing a flower or tentacles on their backs).

And they don’t need to add RNG to the gem store to fund this “new free content” that we are getting. There is many other ways to make money than have someone spin the wheel with their cash and end up wasting it on nothing.
Sorry but I have no sympathy for anyone that believes this is good business practice towards customers. Imagine going into a grocery store to pick up some milk, and after you pay for it, they give you a tomato. And then tell you that whenever you buy something from them, you get a chance that you will get what you want. You wouldn’t go there again. You’d go somewhere else to spend your money. Cause you want what you paid for, not a chance at it. Now that grocery store just lost a customer and future money from that customer cause of those tactics. If they would of just sold them the item without any tricks or shams, that customer would go back to that grocery store and buy stuff again.
And sorry, but I don’t care to be a special snowflake when it comes to buying items I want. I could care less if everyone owns it. I am buying something because I want it and I like it. I’m not going to not buy it cause everyone else has one. It has nothing to do with being a “unique” individual. You buy things cause you like them, not because you want everyone to be jealous of what you have and they don’t have.

This same thread happens every time they release a new box. We keep discovering repeatedly that the boxes give you nothing for your money. It doesn’t seem that people get the message. There are quite a few threads like this already, you certainly were warned.
The entire game has a pretty low chance non-rewarding RNG system ingrained in it.. I don’t know why you would expect something else or want to pay for that experience in its purest form.
If you want to support ANet there are other things you can buy that will actually give you some value.
If you really want karka shells just buy some gold.
If you really want to waste your money just buy a lotto ticket instead. Think of how many boxes you could buy with $1 million dollars.
I really think diminishing returns affects boxes. When I used to buy them, I had the best luck when the first thing I did when I got on was open them. But whenever I opened some after extended periods of playing I would get crap. I wouldn’t be surprised if just opening more chests adds to the dr, which creates these situations where a person buys a lot and you don’t get the rare stuff.

The problem with your logic is that when somone goes into a store to buy milk, they are expecting to get milk because the product package states that it contains milk. When somone is buying a RNG chest they are paying for the “chance” to get a unique item, expecting anything else just proves that they did not read the description of the item they were buying. If I went to the store to buy milk and the bottle stated “has a chance to contain milk” it would be up to me to make the informed decision to buy it, if it did not contain the milk I hoped for then tough, no ones fault but my own.

Pretty much the reason why I have quit playing the game. Flame and Frosts Fused Weapons hidden behind the rng was the last straw me. Heck you could completely ignore the “free content” and just play the cash shop casino to obtain one ticket… maybe. What happened to the idea of completing quests to gain items?
I liked GW1 system of no cash shop rng, all event items could be realistically obtained during the event through gameplay. The current GW2 game is all about the cash shop. Just like any other mmo on the market.

Yet people do not buy the chests for the chance of weapon skin drops.
Also, if the milk box had an information “can contain different content”, would that make it okay? I don’t think so.
The only reason people buy those boxes is because there is no other option of getting the skins. You have to remember, though, that while there is no alternative to these chests within GW2, there are other “shops” out there.

This time around there actually IS another way to get the boxes, off mobs in the Southsun. With the settlers magic find boost I’ve actually gotten 5 boxes in 2 days. I didn’t have to spend 1 dime in the gem store. So yes, when you say there is no other option to get them, you’re wrong. This data is also in the patch notes.
Here is the quote from the most recent patch notes —> “The Southsun Supply Crates will also be a limited-time rare drop off the creatures on the island during this time.”

I’ve not had a box drop yet. A guildie had two drop yesterday. No tickets in them, however. I don’t mind not getting a ticket myself, as I don’t particularly like the eyeball weapon skins, but one of my other guildies thinks they’re cool. Here’s hoping she’s lucky enough to get one.

I got one yesterday, didn’t even realize it lol. Opened up to about 12 karka shells, a passion flower and some passion fruit (I forget the amount). Not bad for freebies

I opened like 6 boxes I think and I got the tiki shield and the speedo guy mini.
BL box much more fun at least you can get key and other cool stuff, when 90% of the box give junk and there will be some guys that get hit by RNG big time and only get shells after 100box´s :P

Nah I agree with RNG chest, BUT the odds should not be 0.01 for a weapon skin.
DragonBrand – [Agg] Aggression
on my second box i managed to get a portable mystic forge, but i have the conduit sooo yea…. the rest were all shells, flowers and fruits.
I have managed to open almost as many boxes, and I bought none of them. I did have similar results, only special thing I got was a mini.
Seriously get the boost of +200 magic find (settler) and do events. The boxes do drop!

…And the problem with your statement is that “the Store” (Anet) puts the milk “Only” in the RNG box so that you don’t have a choice! PVPers like to gamble…give the RNG boxes to them with their stuff in it. Don’t do it to the PVEers stuff! The more randomness that goes into this game the more I consider spending my time playing other games. Randomness sucks! The point of games like this is to become a GOD and to Collect everything. RNG boxes make collecting everything impossible as does limited storage. Max storage isn’t enough and the only way to increase after that is to buy Mules (characters just for the purpose of storage). Anet you want to sell me something? Give me the option to purchase more #$@&ing storage! I would prefer to pay $5 for all of the new content or like $1 for each of the new minis…but anymore or a random chance at it is a huge turnoff and disappointment. My money is less wasted on a lottery ticket because I have the chance at something real. Everything in this game is fake and therefore should be priced accordingly.

How many hours would you say that took and what did you do during this time?
Just goes to show us, how much the players have in common with the Skritt…
“Ohh….Shinies! Must have shinies…”
I’m willing to bet too, that once the next set of weapon skins come out, a good 50-80% of players aren’t even going to care about these ones.

It was alot, like 20 hours – and I got them from fights where the settlers and consortium fight, the ones where the enemys turn green and walk away always dropping a loot bag or box. (the crates came from the box ones)
I did spend a few hours today in the same spot and got none – so I may have burned through all my luck for the year too. Ugh.
edit: The area is the open area just north outside the palisade at “Keil’s Outpost Waypoint”. There are two or three events there where every foe drops a bag/box, and when they are not going off there is an elite Instigator fight just east over a rock outcropping (I have gotten many rares from that Champion but no crates at all).

Calculating roughly from this I would say that around 2-3 hours for 1 box is reasonable.
3 hours / box:
30 boxes * 3 hours = 90 hours.
That would be 2 weeks of work.
I will never support gems/gold/money on any RNG items, ever. They need to try to keep my time invested in their product, which i’m fine with, but when they ask for currency for a drop rate, then it’s going too far, cosmetic or not. It’s bad enough they want us to use our time with their product.

And you still support this? Why? They could be making more meaningful items without RNG. They could be selling multiple items to make up for the RNG factor. RNG is just greed, plain and simple. Offering assured content keeps more customers happy. This is why milk products (and other products) guarantee that they you should be getting what you want. It only makes sense.

Greed? Of course it is, its a BUSINESS. They have to make the money somehow, and if RNG boxes make the money better than assured skins then I don’t blame them.
If it all pays for all the work and expansions, which I we haven’t paid anything for since the box, then leave them be and enjoy the content.

Just because you want it doesn’t mean they should just give it to you.
Agreed. It also amazes me that people are complaining about free content updates in general. Kids these days.

No, it’s wanting a shop in the shop, instead of a kitten casino.
Remember, remember, 15th of November

To be fair I agree, I don’t mind the RNG items but I was expecting some skins like the Rox/Braham skins from the last patch, some easily obtainable ones in the Gem Store, though we do have another patch in less than 2 weeks so it may still happen.
Just remember it makes financial sense to release the option that makes them more money (RNG) before the straight up gem store items.
352? Did you pay for all that or farm them?
Oh no! 30 boxes?
Try 352 crates. Yes, it seriously took me that much to finally get Sclerite token and I’m not happy about it.
If you still have no skins, then your complaint is worth some salt, otherwise you’re not even on the tip of the iceberg.

Farmed around 40-45, got burned out. Took three precursors that I’ve been saving since the last Karka event (back when Spark/Zap/Dawn/Dusk were around 150-300g to save, cashed them out to gems.
Wow, and you were that unlucky? thats gotta sting. In the flame and frost event, 1 black lion key dropped for a daily and I got a weapon skin ticket…
It’s an opinion. My opinion. It can’t be wrong. We are all entitled to our own.
LOL!!!
if y’r opinion is that the world is flat then its wrong. You can have that opinion but a fact is a fact whatever your opinion is can’t change the facts….
As a matter of fact you saying that an opinion can’t be wrong is an opinion which is wrong because its not based on facts. Funny little paradox there.
U guys obviously need more passion.
