A little critique on Southsun Event...
1. I don’t really know what hour did Southsun event started but I know that I logged into game maybe around 3-4 hours after it started, and I heard that my guild mates are at the end of 25/25 achievements to get exotic backpiecie…not only that. Some of them were nearly done with all achievements implemented 4 hours ago ! WTF ARENA NET ? Seriously I can’t understand logic behind that…why making it multimonth event when I can make it in one day ?
If you look at the achievement panel for this event you’ll notice a lot more at the bottom that can’t be done yet. This is round 1. Enjoy your ability to do content that isn’t confusing and acquire some nice back items. When the next step in the story arrives, you’ll be able to do more. It’s not hard content. And you can’t be surprised that a new event sparked huge amounts of people wanting to experience it.

It’s not a multi-month event, the next part of the southsun living story is already coming in two weeks! ^^

But okay, I get it. Until June there will be even more achevements. I bet they will be obtainable in no more than 6 hours ; ) And I don;t rally know if it’s how suppoused to be, but oh well again…
Some people cannot play 6 hours in 1 or 2 days.. so that could be 6 days to get the achievement for them or even more if they do not have 6 days to play an hour consecutively. So it may have not been long for you.. but there are others that play the game that it could take longer… up until it is the deadline. Sometimes you have to think outside yourself and your schedule.
But I fully understand that. I don’t play 6 hours daily, gah, I don’t even play 3 or 4 hours, so for me it will take a while to get 25/25 but if it’s obtainable in few hours of gameplay…and then morons would complain that they have nothing to do…balance is key to most of the cases, I think Anet still needs to figure that out somehow.
They have to design content for all players – its impossible to design content for those dashing thro it and those with only a couple of hrs a week.
Im only halfway through, as i spent time wandering, exploring, doing events etc. everyone plays differently.
I wont argue on the rng score tho. Its getting a bit silly now. I wouldnt mind if the drop rate was sensible. Ive camped bosses in old school mmos which have a better drop rate..
I wonder how many of them actually searched for the achievements rather than just pull up a guide (guilty) that was also up within hours of the patch. Getting achievements is more fun than figuring out how to get achievements, sadly – and faster.
To use guild missions as an example, you either get the bounty -kitten near impossible without a guide, or the guild trek – easily doable without the guide, and soloable (maybe not tier 3) with it.
If they made this any harder, you’d get a lot more complaints. The players are the problem, not the achievements.

I don’t understand. Are we mad because the content can be done too quickly? Because the alternative is people complaining about it being too hard to complete in such a short amount of time. I’m a casual, how can you expect me to grind blah blah blah. It’s a lose-lose for Anet. Either they make it a rough ride to complete (which doesn’t make sense to me) or they make it accesible to everyone. Clearly, the fact that they upleveled SSC hints at the notion that they want every player to be able to have all the fun this event offers.

And that’s another thing that I miss in GW2 – Hard mode. All the dungeons are easily doable with few good men, all the achievements are doable and only few are harder to obtain. As I said before, balance is the key…If 6 hours to complete tab of achievements is too fast, and a month to complete tab is too long then try to make it two weeks, or at least week. When I entered game yesterday, all mu guildies already had it done, or they were at the end, and I was forced to run around SS alone, cause they went back to do usual daily stuff -.-
For me, its not even the amount of time needed to complete the content. I’m more kitten that they still put the new weapon skins only in the kitten cash boxes and no way to earn them in game, even if its something hard or requiring grinding. At least give us another way to get the new weapon skins.

2. That RNG canse… I know it was mentioned millions of millions times but guys… as Fused weapons were at any case obtainable that supplu box kitten is impossible. Of course it’s only my problem, cause I really like the GS weapon and I believe not only me, so why there can’t be any way to obtain this in normal, not gamble way ? Why Anet makes us buy some kittenty shorts, but not weapons skins ? Why couldn’t they made a system like in SAB ? On Southsun you drop bubble-liked tokens, that you exchange for a skin which you cannot sell ? OR like Braham and Rox sets ? It’s really exhausting to cling on a 5% chance to get an item that I really like…if there are two achievements chests, then why not make one of them a token chest, instead 2 back piece items…
This all, after more decent Flame and Frost event, makes me want to really leave GW2, but I’ll just wait ot see what’s in store for us on 28th and then I will decide.
I’m not saying that we should boycott GW2 or that event, but I know I’m right about this, shame that Anet ingore that voices of people.Oh well, don’t mind me, I;m just gonna go back to recovering some of that lost money after buying that stupid boxes. I’ll never learn, will I ?
1. The first part of flame and frost was super easy as well, all you had to do was run around and help the refugees. This IS the start of the event after all. Think of it like a book, the beginning is to introduce you to the characters and problems. Plus there is still more content that will be implemented.
2. You can’t have all the cool things but if you wanna keep buying the chests for an item that just looks cool have fun.
Honestly I think this is a pretty cool event, especially the crab mini-game. There are nice little touches like Lord Faren from royal humans story on the beach and the buffs the consortium and the settlers give you. Plus I had lots of fun running around with my guildies looking for the samples. We didn’t even use a guide. Thumbs up from me on this update Anet.
I just wanted to leave this here:
The event is pretty cool, as far as I’m concerned. Story telling is still meh, though.
What I like in particular is the difficulty. Finally a map where enemies aren’t mind-numbingly easy. I even failed an event! Woo! I think this was like the first time in open world PvE that I actually had to think about my skill setup. I hope this trend continues!
event is pretty awesome could be better for me since sadly i deleted my only lvl 80 character the day before it started so yeah i ll be regretting that deeply.

Everytime i see people complain about the achievements being obtainable in a short amount of time a picture comes to mind (included in post).
I mean seriously, i don’t -have- 6hours to spend a day on GW2 like a lot of people do, probably a third of that on most days, so that’s a 3 day fear for me, that’s quite a bit of time if you ask me.

Pardon me while I lay off here all my frustration, but this event introduction made me realize that this isn’t the right directon for GW2 or maybe just for me…and I totally know that no one will weep for me if I choose to leave GW2 cause there’s millions more to keep playing, but I am really dissapiont Anet…

1. After the Flame and Frost events were done, there were many threads created from players who were upset because they weren’t able to complete all of the achievements within the 3 months they were given. I am sure we will see many of those same threads after this living story is done.
2. I agree with you. Me and RNG don’t get along very well.
I think the content its fine, just the insane grinding for a ticket thats kinda weird.
I spent 2 days to find only 3 box, and nothing good inside lol
(yea I might not be lucky probbly, but cmon im with 300% MF buff wth…)

LOL that is the funniest picture ever!!!
Shortness is not a flaw, you got the achievement now you have all that other time left over to do anything else you want instead of grinding an event.
Why do I feel like I am the only person who plays this game because I think it is fun, as opposed to because I wanna get rare crap? Just enjoy the game, if you get the drop, lucky you, if you dont just try to get the next one that comes out but have FUN doing it, dont forget that its just a GAME.

Well if anet made everyone able to get the fused weapons, what would make them so special? Oh good job you paid 100 gold for a skin? Nah, I think keeping the rarity makes it that special “gem”. For example if gold only cost 10 cents per ounce, I don’t think it would be a “special gift” to buy someone a gold necklace.
