I frustrated been trying all weekend to get the Vent Sample. Found a video on vent collection, so I am in right place. It has not appeared. Have something like 6 hours in Waiting. Is it bugged? Not that many ppl online, 3 weekend.

You are just in the wrong spot. The patch yesterday has reduced the steam hiding the vent sample. It’s in the area with the floating rock jumping puzzle. If you’re heading to the new instance, it is near that but a little further west.

Isn’t that sample well hidden behind the steam. Took my time running around in the blind till I saw someone run behind the steam.

That sample is indeed hidden beneath the steam, yes. It’s completely invisible from the front, but run around behind the steam and you’ll see it.

The red steam cloud shields the sample from your vision, run around the venting steam to find the sample.

Ok after 3 days of camping the vent!!!!! A friend came by with his notebook. He took me to the vent sample collection point and guess what? He can see the sample and I can NOT !!! I DO NOT HAVE CREDIT FOR COLLECTION OF THE SAMPLE. SO WHY AM I UNABLE TO SEE THE SAMPLE???? Put our notebooks side by side the collection sample not visible on my notebook but is on my friends while standing side by side ingame.

Try guesting to another server and see if you can get it.

ok guesting on another server, I can see the sample. Just do not get do not get credit while guessing. Also my freind can log in using my notebook to his account and he can see the sample. So its not my notebook. Does not make much sense thakittens only me bugged. Made a new toon. Made my way to vent sample. I could see it, was able to collect the sample, just do not get credit for the collection. This is really getting on my last nerve. Have so much time on this sample would really really like to get it done and get credit for the collection.

Submit a bug report, if you haven’t already. Also, try to keep this thread on the first page, so that maybe a Dev will see it and respond.

Where exactly are you trying to collect this sample? I just read another thread and there was someone confusing the Islet sample with the Vent sample.

Vent sample is covered in steam on the ground along a wall by the start of the jumping puzzle. Islet sample is on top at the end of the jumping puzzle. There’s also the geyser sample which is in driftglass by the settlement and is on top of a tall geyser.

These 3 samples could easily be mistaken for a “vent” sample.

If you have already collected that sample, then it will still allow you to collect again but nothing will happen.

if you had the sound turned up, you would have noticed that each signal you send of with the gun gives back a resonanse if there’s a sample nearby. That’s what I did, then it were as simple as follow the way the sound came from

if you read my posts I have said, “A friend came by with his notebook. He took me to the vent sample collection point.” Notebooks side by side he can see the vent sample I can not. When he logs in on my notebook he can still see the vent sample. So not a problem with my notebook. Here is the photo of the vent sample, incase you do not know where to look for it.

Maybe your mistake in simply in the photograph you chose to upload…but that’s the Lava Sample, so it will do you no good trying to find the vent sample there.

I did read your post and that is the lava sample in your picture. If you want to know where the vent sample is, go into the achievement menu and hover your mouse over the vent sample achievement. It will tell you where it is.

You are both right, sorry. I am just frustrated with this. Going to skip it.
It’s a game no use in letting it drive me crazy.

Don’t give up. I think you are simply in the wrong spot and trying to collect a sample you have already collected.

Here’s the map location, it’s on the north side of the island and not inside a cave. It is near the floating rock jumping puzzle and the cave entrance to the new dungeon that was added:
