ANET failed to consider the “casual player” yet again. You are obviously tailoring the game much like W.O.W. to favor guild or hardcore players. I have tried to zone in within the ten minute time frame only to be kicked into Overflow. If you don’t know anyone to group with then you are sh** out of luck. Truly tired of trying to complete the world events that cannot be completed. Also, for some reason some of the Fire/Frost events do not register when completed.

I’ve done most all of them solo, mostly in main. The trick is to be out in the world in main, and ready to go at the top of the hour. I favor Ebonhawke as a base camp. The moment the invasion starts, I grab a random wp anywhere in the zone and go there. Poof, I’m in main. Then I just follow the crowd.

Of course, overflows have felt just as full and successful as mains.

I have been in the overflow for every invasion I’ve played. I’ve not been in zone with anyone I know, in any of them. I’ve not been in a party in any of them. I’ve not had any problem completing the events yet. Being in a party doesn’t matter – follow the crowd, watch map chat for people calling targets for help. For that matter, every single time, I’ve seen multiple people calling out starting PUGs.
So, I really don’t know what you’re complaining about here, other than “I didn’t get in the same overflow as my buddy”. Which is a pain, but it doesn’t make you “sh** out of luck” or make it impossible to complete events.

Stop whining. You have no solid argument here, it’s just plain whining and tantrum throwing.

It doesn’t take a ‘hardcore’ player or ‘mad skills’ to click on a waypoint on the invasion map as soon as it is updated. What is so difficult about logging on 5 minutes before the next hour and using a waypoint to go over to the map that is updated?

Yes, I know, ’I’m casual, I have a family, I have a life, unlike YOU GUYS’ – great! So does a billion other people in the world. If you have to go do something so generic on a weekend, like visit your SO’s family in the mountains, zone into an invasion map on the hour before you leave, complete a few events in the first phase, then go AFK. Reward will be waiting once you log back in when you’re back home.

Of course you’re not going to be able to complete the invasion if you zone in after 10 minutes. The event takes about 45 minutes to complete so it has to start within 10 minutes, otherwise the event cycle won’t work properly.

I’m 12/13 for Invasion Canceler and I’ve given up because I don’t have all day to sit and zone in to each map. Tough kitten, no point crying about it.

If you get something ridiculous like 20 minutes per day to play, then maybe you should pick up an Indie game on Steam.

However, after porting to a zone to participate in the event, only to be dumped in an overflow, and then finding out that the event isn’t active in the overflow is annoying. Very annoying.

Saying there isn’t an argument to be made there and it’s just whining is actually just being a kitten. Stop it, Zacchaeed.

If it was 30 minutes, you would have a point. Sadly, you didn’t read what I said. I said it was immediately. Within moments of the event notice going up. Instant overflow, instant over overflow, and no event. That’s not right.

My point is, the Invasion not appearing on overflows was fixed days ago and should be in the patch notes, though you still need to be in the map within 10 minutes of activation otherwise there will be no active event.

I just ran a couple in the overflow and we completed just fine. I believe patience is a good virtue here, especially since the event lasts 4 weeks. You will be able to get the achievement done.

I totally disagree with the initial statement that this game is designed for the hardcore, because I do not consider myself a hardcore player but am still able to complete the most of the achievements. It comes down to time management since I know I won’t have all the achievements done tomorrow or event the next. One achievement a day is what I aim for, and if I can pre-plan correctly, I can possibly even knock out more in an hour.

Yeah, I just noticed I was only thinking it really hard. This was immediately. And it was tonight. About 4 hours ago. Not fixed.

That might be fine, but the question is still begged, why are there overflows that are NOT running the events? If an overflow is up, it should also be running an instance of the event. It doesn’t matter if the main zone is full, if people are being put in overflows, they should be put into overflows running the event. Guesting onto another server isn’t a solution, it’s just a workaround. Workarounds should never be seen as a fix.

You don’t need to be hardcore, or play in a group. Just watch the clock, when it’s almost starting a new hour prepare for the event update and zone as soon as you see it pop up.

No it wasn’t.

I can join an overflow and refuse to go to my home world and keep that overflow going indefinitely (or at least until the next realm/build restart). The next time my particular map is up for the event, other players port in within the 10 minute time limit and….BAZINGA!….no event for them.

Do you see how that works? I, as nothing more than a lowly player, and with a small army of other players, can literally stop ALL overflows from hosting the portal event.
