Want help taking down Tequatl? How about...
You can pre-battle talk when you are sent to an overflow with event starting as soon as over flow is made?
Defeated, not downed. Depending on the presence of AOE and your equipped skills you may or may not be able to assist someone who is downed, but they won’t be using any waypoints until they’re properly dead whether they want to or not.
Wargrave..good point…however, there are people that have done this a few times…calling out insults, doesn’t help new players learn what they need to know. If you have to take the time to write out a 10 word insult, a 10 word instruction would be so much more helpful.
What some groups need, is someone to take the reins as the group gathers for the event. Someone to help organize and direct, something people with commander tags should be doing. Determining who is manning the turrets. Breaking off a group to play defense of those turrets, organizing the group that is playing offense against Tequatl himself, organizing who will be repairing turrets, or rezzing players, etc.
During the event, we need the ability to call out for help…such as when a turret is being overrun because there isn’t enough defense. Taking it upon ourselves, and letting people know that we are falling back to rez, or to help defend, or to rebuild a turret.
Communication and coordination…. 2 things we lack because we haven’t released the mob mentality yet.
Lanfear, my point exactly. With the overflow situation it does make this a harder proposition for those there..but still this event takes coordination…not disrepectful play on the field. That, more than anything, will destroy this event on any server that plays that way.
That’s the point of my post. Play like team members or no one will play with you.
It’s comon sense, I don’t need to remind everyone before hand.
It takes forever to rez someone in combat who is dead. And it’s extremely selfish to expect players to go help rez you in a danger zone when there is a WP a minute away.
Don’t be lazy, cheap and selfish. Take the WP.

We’ve done this on Yak’s Bend. The problem with Pick Up Group, open world content is that people won’t listen to you, they won’t buy potions, they won’t eat food, they won’t use the best gear, and they won’t learn the encounter before they try it. The great part is you aren’t a raid leader, you don’t have any control of the people that show up for this fight. You just have to pray that the fates align and you have enough intelligent people in order to cover the main objectives. If you don’t, you’re out 15 minutes or more, a waypoint fee, and maybe a repair bill.
In the 15 minutes of the Tequatl fight you could gather Ori and Ancient Wood and make more money, or most likely craft your ascended weapons before Tequatl would ever randomly drop one for you. You can also do a champion farm or 2 paths of CoF. If you did 4 temples in Orr you would have the same number of Dragonite as completing a full Tequatl encounter and you’ll have lower blood pressure.

But if it takes as long or longer to run back as it would to have someone rez you? Have to take that into consideration in your decision to rez, or not rez someone.
Yes, if you’re rezzing you’re not fighting, but that’s just one variable in the stew that needs to have consideration.
helping each other out. Yes this is a timed event and we know that you are doing everything to win. However, taking the time to type insults to those that have died and are waiting for help, shows that you must not be under to much of a time constraint.
How about a little pre-battle discussion to help people understand the situation when the dragon starts up? Like ‘hey if you get downed don’t expect help’…much nicer than what I’ve seen in the game.
Anyway…I’ll try this event each time and hope for some better responses from those ‘in the know’..if not I’ll leave and go do something else. As will others, until you have no choice but to stop playing yourself….
tldr; This is supposed to be a team oriented event…start playing like team members.
If you’re laying dead on the ground, not just downed, but dead on the ground, and aren’t waypointing, you deserve every insult hurled your way and then some.
Sorry but it’s the truth. All you are doing is scaling up the event without helping. Reviving someone who is DEAD while in combat takes a really long time and very often gets more people killed not to mention lost DPS from not only you, but your ressers.
Don’t ever expect people to res a dead person in the middle of a world boss. Ever.
those that have died
Stopped reading there.
Downed allies? Try to help if you can, sure.
Dead allies? Takes way too long, makes you way to vulnerable.
Last night I watched as several dozen pugs lay dead going REZPLOX and refusing to respawn effectively killing the event before we got Teq down to even 95% because we simply didn’t have enough people up.
My disdain of people that don’t simply respawn and run over and instead prefer getting their allies killed and wasting everyone’s time is growing exponentially.

The WP is like a minutes run away….it takes about that long for an allie to res while also putting them in a lot of danger and removing them from saving DOWNED allies or doing damage.
Stop making up crappy excuses and stop being lazy. Just WP and run over.

How dare you use proper logic!
But it is the simple truth. Especially because you get out of combat really quickly in this fight that reviving tends to be more efficient than having others spend a minute to rejoin the fight.

I haven’t actually done it yet, I sort of figured I would wait for some of the hate to die down.
I was simply offering a valid, logical, alternate view point. I did state that not doing damage was a variable to be taken into consideration. You don’t have to be a kitten about it.
And we wonder why we can’t band together to complete large group content…. hmph

It’s not a valid logical alternative if you aren’t taking the alternative IN CONTEXT and evaluating IN CONTEXT. Maybe if the closest uncontested waypoint was a 5 minute run away you would have a point but it is literally a one minute run away and we have dozens, read DOZENS of dead pugs lying around waiting for res’s instead of just waypointing.

It’s a free-for-all environment. That’s sort of the definition of a mob mentality.

Unless the person doesn’t have it, or it is contested by another event.
There is also the variable of how many people are trying to rez the person. While it may take 60 seconds for a single person, when you get 4+ you drastically reduce that time, and in events like this rezzing tends to happen by multiple people at a time.
There are a lot of variables to consider (the number to be rezzed is also another variable), and I did point that out (a stew of variables). By no means was the single simple example I gave cut and dry.
Nor did I say anything about the people that are down not waypointing at all. If you’re down, and it doesn’t look like anyone will rez you, or its not that long a run, then by all means you should take it upon yourself to WP and run back.
Variables, variables, and more variables. Nothing is cut and dry!

You haven’t even done the event. People are dying in droves in the poison gas clouds and from the waves. Good luck getting people to stand in AoE death fields to res the people who won’t wp out.
Also your defending your position with either things you didn’t mention that someone would have to guess you intend (which you can’t) or extrapolate a lot from tiny vague comments meant to deflect the issue that you haven’t done the event and don’t actually know what’s going on.

Well, I never said people were smart (standing in and dying in the gas clouds). In fact, generally speaking you’ll see me say the opposite….people a kittening stupid.

Thus why I left it open, and specifically pointed out that there are a lot of variables to consider. I can’t possibly think up every possible scenario, nor would I have the character limit to go into them all in detail even if I did. Have some common sense man. Wait never mind….
Common sense, like common courtesy… not so “common” in today’s society.
Thanks for the discussion..a few notes:
Common sense isn’t, a few people map chatting that downed get rezzed and dead take the walk back, helps out a lot for people that are used to the way the game is ‘supposed’ to be played. This IS part of team play…helping the team understand the reason for the change in ‘rules’. I understand the neccessity of this, however…not knowing it and being called out during the fight rudely, lost a player for a few runs. Many will not bother to come back. Rude behavior IS a problem and needs to be controlled.
I understand that this is the internet and that stuff happens, just remember though, the insult you hurl today WILL lose you people in the map…do it often enough and you will not be able to complete the event.
