This skin ROCKS my sox! I dearly wanted it for my asura ever since it was datamined months ago and now I have seen it textured I want it even more. To my surprised it even looks good on a charr!

The real question is now, where do they drop? Someone mentioned having received the gasmask from a tournament chest, but does that method makes it usable in PvE? It usually does not work like that but his post was a bit confusing.
I too really need this skin. I made an Iron Man themed set of gear for my thief using asura cultural armor, but there were no medium helmet skins that were Iron Man-y enough, so I have just been hiding my head slot. But I think this skin will be perfect for it.
I wish they would come out with some more diverse skins for underwater breathers. From day one, I was already tired of swimming around pretending to be Bane.

I can’t say this with complete certainty, but apparently you can buy Toxic Seed Chests from glory vendors in spvp for 750 glory a pop. Can only buy 5 a day, and those drop the gasmask, along with the other filter masks skins. The skins aren’t restricted to spvp either, as the filter a guildie got was pve usable as well.

Someone posted a theory in Kessex Hills yesterday that the Gas Mask will be a story item that is required to climb the tower safely. Since right now if you go near the tower you die to toxic gas.
I like this theory. I hope it happens. It makes sense and it’ll make it easy to get and not RNG junk. And the Halloween event giving out the Candy Corn Elemental and then requiring that to progress the story gives some precedence to the idea.

Buy it off of the TP. I expect to pay something around 40g if this does end up being another jetpack/monocle situation instead of getting lucky enough for it to drop.
If it ends up being a story bonus, you saved some money.
I hope it’s ingame, and part of a bonus you get for completing the Tower whenever they add the instance for the inside. If so, my Engineer will wear it proudly.

At least the original writers and designers of Guild Wars could move on to work on the real Guild Wars 2, while the AW people could drop this silly thing called magic at last and start fully fleshing out the story of the cosmic villain called Scarlet and her alliances of evil (ranging from pyrotechnical Soviet miners and cat-demon nazees to a poisonous alien coalition of zerg-like serpents and a plant lifeform dealing with biological warfare) waging war on the peaceful Tyrian System Pact.

I can confirm that I got one of the other filter mask skins from a Toxic Seed Box from the glory vendor last night. It is PvE usable. This suggests the gas mask might be obtainable this way as well.
I’m not that excited for the new skin because gas masks have been in the game since release. Check out the helms available from Morro (the Sorrow’s Embrace token guy) in LA.

Oh god, PvE skins that can only be acquired through PvP? Its my worst nightmare.
At least I don’t actually want any of the gas mask items, so I’m good there (though I still think its a bad move in general). But if that Toxic Spore back item and / or the Toxic shoulders / gloves are in there and only there, I will be super sad.

Nope, it’s account bound, so it won’t be buyable from tp. I think it’s either gem store skin or from living story achievements (those from the next update).

Hmm… I wouldn’t be too surprised if it is something we’ll need to obtain (or given) in order for us to enter the Tower of Nightmares due to all the poison blocking the entrance.
That would be pretty sweet if it isn’t too hard to obtain.

I don’t think the gas mask drops from glory boxes, people just assumed it did because of the air filtration device. I’ve seen the latter drop, but not the former… and I know a few people trying to acquire this skin.

It seems that we’re getting the gasmask next patch as a reward for completing meta within the new dungeon! That’s pretty good news, now I’m waiting for the patch to strike so I can get it for my charr engineer
