It sounds like a joke, but wouldn’t that be AMAZING if it actually happened? Like, just completely out of left field the Mad King kills her off like it’s nothing. It makes more sense than you’d think:

(1) Scarlet received a great deal of player criticism and in my opinion has been largely ineffective as a convincing villain. (She’s very Mary Sue, honestly.)
(2) She arrived with little to no buildup. Having her depart in the same way has a nice symmetry to it.
(3) Who the heck doesn’t love the Mad King? Having the star of GW2’s best-reviewed patch kill off the worst-reviewed villain would be a master stroke, and nobody would expect it because holiday characters usually never get to have a lasting influence outside of their yearly event.

I mean, realistically it will probably never happen. Heck, I am doubting there will even be any Scarlet <—> Lunatic Court connection at all, because that’d be way too cool and tidy to end up in a Living Story release. BUT I CAN DREAM

I don’t think Guild Wars 2 needs a Mechagodzilla. It’d be cool to fight a robo-dragon, but not in Guild Wars 2. They’ve already thrown in too much technology where there shouldn’t be and not enough where there should be.

I don’t really give a kitten about people’s thoughts on what they think is “too technological” for their fantasy MMO’s. GW2 is its own universe, it doesn’t HAVE to conform to every aspect of the archetype. And what else are all the mechanominotaurs and mechawindriders all about? But I suppose you’d just rather those things be removed from the game, you party pooper. I think it’d be cool if all this lead to a big dragon reveal, because so far there’s been no such lead ups of the sort. Everything else was in from day 1, or we roughly knew it about it for weeks due to patch previews.

We all know how Anet loves to ‘sneak’ half-veiled references to elements of gaming, fantasy and pop culture into the game, no matter how immersion-breaking they may be. Because of this, seeing a Quaggan go “OoooOOo Gojira! oooOOOooo” in-game isn’t entirely unlikely and I won’t deny that seeing that in-game would also make me smile. Unfortunately, unless it was waterproofed, I believe Quaggan would be safe as Mechagojira would not be able to attack their villages due to their being under water…and he’d be ‘allergic’ to water. Though that could also be a bit of a nod in the LotR Ring Wraiths’ direction regarding their predisposition toward aquatic avoidance.

The Mad King is actually the Joker and Scarlets his Harley Quin. .-.

Twilight Arbor will be turned into their dark, evil funhouse.

Well Super Adventure Box and Tequalt were released in the same month but are entirely unrelated to each other. It is possible that the Halloween stuff will be stand alone.

Doubtful at all.

HOWEVER, I can see that if/when we eventually ‘defeat’ her -hopefully by death- that she is taken up by Mad King Thorn. This could make her Countess of the Lunatic Court, able to appear along side the Mad King once every year around the time of 31st of October.

There is potential to be had, but right now the realm of reality is separated from the Realm of the Mad King until such the time bares closer to the end of October. Because of this, it’s not possible that Scarlett is of any relation to Mad King Thorn.

Mad King as a character 9.9/10. Great villain.

Scarlet as a character 6/10. Forgetable, average and uninteresting villain.

In all honesty I could see the Mad King taking her under his wing, but only as a subordinate. A Knight or something, I dunno.

True, but being memorable for the majority of people hating her isn’t exactly good for a villain. I know it makes sense on paper for people to want to hate the villain, but let’s be honest. Aren’t the villains most remembered usually the ones we enjoy?

The Mad King sees all the chaos Scarlet is doing and falls in love with her… asks her to marry him, she is grossed out by his pumpkin head (and the fact that he’s been dead for a long time now) so she refuses, then the Mad King starts doing random acts of chaos all over Tyria and Lion’s Arch trying to impress her..

With the first update for October hitting on the 1st, the next update afterward would hit with plenty of time to spare before Mad King’s day.
