Has anyone else noticed that the claw of jormag is referred to as a lieutenant and not a champion as both the shatterer and teq are.

There was a champion of Jormag frozen under a lake in EotN. It looked much thinner than Claw of Jormag so I would presume that there is a champion out there somewhere.

It may just signify a different role that they play. A champion would signify a great fighter but nothing much more is needed to be one. A lieutenant could signify that The Claw is more crucial to the plans and strategy of Jormag.

Lieutenants and champions are terms used interchangeably for dragon minion rankings. The Shatterer is also called a lieutenant, for example.

It is also possible to have multiple champions at a single time.

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

In the case of Claw an Shatterer there seems to be indications of only one being active at a time, but from what we’ve seen of Zhaitan there’s no real limit to how many champions can be running around.
Although I’m unsure of the exact definition of champion. In the case of Zhaitan it seemed that champions had a measure of autonomous action and some higher mental function, while the run of the mill minion was just dumb cannon fodder.

I just found it interesting i do hope there is an explanation. It would be cool to get teq like fights for jormag and kralkatorrik

Actually with the Claw of Jormag, there’s mention of multiple Claws pursuing the kodan Sanctuaries south at the same time, not just one at a time.

Ok. But still once you knock a champ down another takes it’s place (with some exceptions no doubt).

I am under the assumption that we never actually kill the three dragon champions we can fight. They all fly away at the end, except Claw who falls into the lake and disappears until next time.

Yup, coincidentally I was also thinking this earlier. Because over Arah we see multiple Tequatl-like dragons roaming freely. Tequatl is just unique in that it was a name given to it by the Hylek for attacking them.

I think it’s a matter of preparation. We only saw one Great Destroyer because the Destroyers were still in the process of rising and building a force. There’s no telling what Pimo has done with his free time since awakening when he did. And of course running through Arah story on a ship, we see plenty of lesser dragons, same species at Tequatl, roaming in droves – Zhaitan has been active for quite some time.

the shatterer explodes :P

but yeah, i think those events are “stuck in time”, save maybe for tequatl, since he was part of a plot, and he falls into the water when “dying” too.
