I didn’t see this up yet. The teaser trailer for the next episode is up. https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/trailer-seeds-of-truth-begins-december-2/

I won’t divulge it’s contents so as to not spoil anything with one exception. What are those markings at the 57 second mark? They resemble door handles. I wonder if they are on a door? And if a door, where does it go?

Anvil Rock – Out manned, out gunned and no repair costs, so Leeroy up and dive in.
See you in Tyria.

Twin cobras and a strange pattern… could be related to Forgotten, though that’s pretty much just from the snakes. Anyone feeling like taking a look at the Altar of Glaust to see if there are any matching patterns? Couldn’t find any pictures, I’ll go take a look tomorrow if no one else does.

I don’t remember any such patterns, but I’m willing to go check it out. Let me know an approximate time. Maybe someone whom has played more GW1 than I can confirm if there are similar patterns in the Crystal Desert.

However, taking a look at the wiki page regarding the Altar of Glaust something struck me:

“When the ritual is cast, beams of light break through the unnatural clouds above and through the circular architecture surrounding the altar. "

Sounds familiar, eh?

That’s actually a nice find. And could make perfect sense. Caithe’s secret is that she knows of Forgotten that are still in Tyria. She stole the egg to bring it to them. Coule be possible that the dragon born from the egg might not be free from Kralkatorric’s corruption and she’s taking it to the Forgotten in hopes of having the ritual done on the egg. It would fit well with the vision the Pale Tree gave us about the egg and glowing pillars of light.

  • Seems my guess on delving into Caithe’s past is right and that the teaser features old Caithe and Faolain. Though those lines “sometimes to catch a thief you must become a thief” – can Anet get more cliched?
    • But more importantly – why does Caithe’s appearance change, but Faolain’s hadn’t, despite the fact that the in-game model for Faolain doesn’t match EoD’s description of her? Furthermore, why would Caithe have gone through a strong emotional state (meriting her appearance change, if the same rules as for Scarlet and Canach held with her appearance change) but Faolain, who has been just as hurt but more twisted than Caithe, not change?
  • At 0:33 I see Canach – Lost Shores styled Canach, that is. Seems he was experimented on and freed by Caithe/Faolain? Would explain his larger disdain towards Firstborn given his personality if he couldn’t even save himself.
  • Wait, why are Caithe and Faolain attacking centaurs? And that appears to be Dry Top? But, uh… “You are a rare sight in the uplands. Forgive this one for asking, but are you a nature spirit?” those centaurs don’t know what sylvari are…
  • 0:56 mark: That’s new for sure. “There was a Forgotten glyph seen before”: in Silverwastes, different than this. Aside from certain naga that had hoods, the Forgotten are the only one who have been attributed to cobra-like snakes, mainly via their seals and the emblem on their books (only book backpack model in GW2).

@Xukavi: I don’t see why Caithe would keep that a secret from Faolain?

Gleam didn’t seem to be a dragon minion in GW1, so I am doubtful on the thought that a dragon born from an egg will not be free from Kralkatorrik’s corruption – and if it wouldn’t be free of it, then the Zephyrites would know this, no doubt. Though it’s been a theory of mine as of late that the golden location is Forgotten made.

Well my thoughts were that it was only Caithe that had discovered the place. At the end of the trailer we see only one lone Sylvari in the cave. To me that Sylvari looked like Caithe from afar. There are many things at play here. We know this is the past during the time where the Nightmare Court was being created due to what was happening to the Sylvari, could also be the start of the fall of Faolain to Nightmare which as far as I know is when tension started growing between both. Also if those were Caithe and Faolain in Dry Top then why was it only Caithe at the door? Maybe a fall out happened and they seperated?

To reiterate I don’t think it was a secret she deliberately kept from Faolain. What Scarlet said was she was keeping a secret not even Faolain knew. To me it just means she has a secret being kept from everyone including Faolain but not specifically from Faolain. You get my drift?

That sylvari wasn’t Caithe. We see her interacting with Caithe and Faolain earlier on, and uses bright (whitish) light armor – whereas Caithe is seen using medium (of a green shade).

She is most likely a Firstborn or Secondborn we don’t know of, imo.

This seems to me to be pre-NC, given that the Nightmare Court was formed by the asuran experiments on sylvari, and we see something akin to that happening.

That stood out to me as well. The centaurs of Maguuma supposedly don’t recognise sylvari but honestly I’m not too sure what to believe. They claim to have no direct link to Ventari (suggesting a likely common ancestor going back to the old ways) but if you talk to the centaurs in the camp (the generic named ones) their generic prompt dialogue are almost verbatim teachings from Ventari’s tablet. Even their kite from the buried chests calls them Ventari Followers. In addition to that, they don’t recognise a sylvari but Aife travelled to the Maguuma Wastes before GW2 launched, did they not see her when she was there?

The episode is called Seeds of Truth – maybe the Maguuma Centaur tribe are lying to protect a secret.

Well, I went and checked Altar of Glaust, but came out with nothing of particular note. The altar uses basic Orr style assets, no runes, no glyphs. Only thing special there is the bright light at the end of the ritual, bright bluish light.

I figured the name pointed to us learning a truth of Caithe’s past. Or rather, her intentions with the egg.

I just hope E7 doesn’t end up being a full filler episode like E6.

As I recently rewatched the vision cinematic: those golden pillars of light come from the ground and head up. The beams of light in the ritual is the opposite: coming from the sky and heading down. The color is also different: gold to white (or blue according to Tuomir).

Sadly, if we go by the other trailers, I believe that is all we will get.

The other trailers always showed a bit of every part of the Episode. Be it enemies, locations, mechanics, etc…

This trailer however was mostly revolving around this flashback .

I don`t know, after the last episode I feel like we will only go to the pale tree and have a little trip to the past in yet another vision (something I start to get tired of somehow. That would be the fourth this season. I think this particular story devise has run it`s course).

I expect a longer flashback to understand Caithe and Faolain and then we get the next cliffhanger back in the silverwastes, as we try to go after her and the Egg.
This episode will mostly focus on this subplot, getting us near to nowhere in the mainplot, other than the fact that we might know where Caithe is heading.
However I do not expect to get her.

Overall it seems like we end this season with nothing more than the silverwastes and the attack on the hinted big boss there.
How many episodes left again?

It seems that we’ll be playing as Caithe in the past. Otherwise we’ll be in for some long cinematics.

Though if such magic existed… Why wasn’t it used for Secrets in the Earth – instead if a dangerous ritual from the Crystal Desert.

Any citation for this? Given the full Carapace armor set is due to be unlocked during the remainder of the season, there may be 4 (or more) episodes remaining.

A potential timeline could have Ep 7 release on the 2nd, then Wintersday on the 16th, and then the remaining 3 episodes releasing in the new year (starting Jan 13th or 27th).

I believe it’s during sylvari Personal Story. If your sylvari is of the same cycle as Aife she will be present during one of the instances with the Pale Tree (if not your cycle’s Luminary will replace her). I’m not sure if Trahearne, Caithe or Aife herself mentions it. It’s a really short line stating she’s explored all over Tyria including the Maguuma Wastes. It’s much harder to explore the early personal story due to the arbitrary level lock outs from the New Player Experience. I think you need to be level 20.

Well Living Story keeps insisting on following a TV show format (but Leah’s comments in a recent interview give me hope that ArenaNet will embrace the fact that games are a different medium and you can’t tell stories the same as you would in a TV show. Still, a lot of TV shows have episode names which are weaved throughout the episode in several different literal and symbolic ways. It might be the name of a song, recurring or significant imagery, symbolic of relevant past events or mirrored experiences which could be applied to two different characters or even a character’s story and the story of a non-person entity (like a nation, army, place of work, school etc).

tl;dr I agree the name likely refers to Caithe’s past etc but I want to believe the name will have several layers to it. Secrets of Caithe’s which will come out, secrets of the Master of Peace coming out, maybe even secrets of of the sylvari, the Pale Tree’s origins, the Forgotten or the Maguuma centaurs. I’m probably hoping for too much.

It’s all three storylines. The luminary shows up in the first and last instance of the first chapter (level 10). They have only minorly changed dialogue in all 7 cases of their appearance. One line that refers to the Wyld Hunt (interpretation or conclusion), one that refers to Trahearne (ending only), one for about the luminary, and one about the cycle(s).

I have about 5 birthday scrolls left but no free character slots.

This particular dialogue is up on the wiki either way for one of the steps at least.

The images that are on the door now. The ones we see in the trailer are different. Since, as I understand it, to see the door now requires mapbreaking, it’s entirely possible to Crystal Desert runes are just a placeholder or an idea they later discarded. I’m hesitant to read to much into it until we see what the door looks like when we’re supposed to be able to reach it.

I agree that we can’t read too much into what’s currently on the doors in-game, as that could change when the area is released to players, but the fact that those 3 runes in particular were used as placeholders does indicate that some of the speculation may be on track.
