Naked Sylvari *possible spoilers*
I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure that at the end of the first conversation you have after exiting the dream, your character will inquire about having “a certain attire”, and you’ll be directed to talk to somebody nearby to reclaim your armor.
Makes more sense than being born fully clothed.

The certain attire comment first showed up to me after speaking to the next person in my story. I also don’t always jump into my story right away.
How is it a silly decision? It’s perfectly normal to be born without clothes on.

It made perfect sense to me. The very first thing that happens when you’re put in the world for the first time is that you’re told to talk to the person RIGHT in front of you, who makes a direct reference to the fact that your clothes were in the dream rather than real and that you’ll need to talk to the NPC near them to get new clothes.
This thread is kinda confusing but I think he’s upset that they throw clothes onto you automatically when you leave the area without talking to NPC.
Live like you were born! Naked and covered in the blood of others, often with screaming involved.

Im pretty sure in the intro you see your character sleeping in the pod WITH helmet or mask or whatever starter item you chose.^^
As said above.
The very first quest mark gives you a full set of armor and your default weapon.
The reason you are naked is that you are litereally a newborn. At the beginning you play inside the Dream, which is a network of living and dead sylvari’s living memories. You are born from the Pale Tree when you awake from this dream, and I’m pretty sure armor and weapon isn’t something you naturally born with.
ArenaNet, why make us naked upon entering the world, and not give us a decent hint that this is on purpose? Didn’t you consider that many of us have seen “naked bugs” in games before? Maybe remove our armor from the character window instead of keeping it equipped? How about not resuming the display of the armor if we log out and back in?
Just love how silly decisions like this ruin various aspects of the game for me. Seems to be a recurring theme…
Silly? Your character just awake. Infact, if you run out of the area instead of talking to the one npc, you get all your gear auto equipped. I don’t know what you think, but I doubt sylvari are grown complete with cloth/leather/chainmail armor on them.
Now if they had a wide range of plant armors (for each class) in addition to the normal ones, and Sylvari started in that style, I could understand your point.
I believe that the reason you have clothes in you intro is because it’s part of the Dream, and it’s showing you bits of your future. In other words, the clothes you’ll get after you’re born.
