Probably been done before.. but…

Wondering if there’s a tier list of DPS by profession in PvE — not including might and vulnerability and all those other effects but just the potential a single person can deal by themselves.

talk to DnT they do a lot of this math….and they have a good system that elminates variables like might and vulnerability etc…

Might and vuln will be occurring incidentally from rotations, traits and utilities so there’s no way not to factor them in. An easy way to figure out the dps a class is capable of solo though would be to look at a boss solo YouTube video and divide the boss HP by the number of seconds taken to kill – that’ll give you some nice dps numbers which can give you a vague idea of what a class is capable of.

You should be able to just do the DPS calculations for each attack for whatever class you’re looking for. Anything with a higher DPS than your auto attack will be in your rotation. Anything with less won’t be. Once you have a rotation, you can get a DPS for that and compare that value.

While it’s not a real world scenario it would give you the ballpark you’re looking for.

Not at all.. you can just compute rotations and leave out buffs like OP asked for, it’s really easy to do. My publicly available calculator can do that, for elementalists. I’m sure Keyz or Frifox have accurate values for most classes. Just ignore Guang, he talks a lot but he has no clue

So what are some good bosses to check out?

I was looking at Lupicus and it seems like Ele has a ridiculous recording coming in at just over 2 minutes compared to for example 4.5 minutes on the warrior and ~ 7.5 minutes on the necromancer.

The two minute one involves fiery Greatsword spamming – though IIRC lupicus has 1,450,000 HP so just divide that by however long the solo took and you can get the dps of it. It’ll probably clock in around the 10-12000 DPS mark or something. The key thing to note when watching lupicus solos is that you’ll notice it’s might stacking and reflect classes which will score the fastest kills – rangers, thieves and necros are pretty weak in that department whereas engineer, warrior and ele have pretty huge might stacking potential so they’re a lot faster. Guardian has reflects, an the glaring issue of Mesmer dps being terrible because group fights are too bursty is a non issue while soloing since you can’t burst giant hp bags down, plus it can reflect a lot versus lupicus. Of course it depends on the fight, if there’s no reflect then guardian and Mesmer will lag behind a bit more.

Mind sharing the math for the Ranger’s pet? That’s the one thing I never parsed and I’ve long since lost interest in the class to finish my spreadsheet

I don’t have the spreadsheet on me right now to check directly but I basically just pulled the numbers for the pet based on attacks on 2600 armor golem dummy. Then I extrapolated based on bonus power/precision/ferocity/etc. stats from traits and boons. If I remember correctly a feline pet has a base DPS of around 700 and gets approximately a 100% bonus from having might and fury.

Though I also have to ask why the OP wanted Might stacking removed from the equation? That’s literally like saying you want a speed list of cars and trains but no Tires allowed.

Guess i need to get off my kitten and show what a condi necro can do since aristocracy runes came about.

Unless you’re able to dodge all of the life suck and drain (every nec solo I’ve seen sponges a few hits because anet thought having a class with like zero defensive skills would be cool) necro solos I can’t see being on par with say, war or engi :p

Its possible. Only reason i ate some attacks in my last solo was because i messed up. With proper timing 2 dodges is enough to get out of every life drain. Sub 6min is definately possible and around 5 mins is also possible i believe. The only reason necro would get slower condi times than warrior and engi is because of the lack of permanent burning.

But honestly the rotation for an optimized condi necro is kitteng painful to do. So many cooldowns have to be timed.

So if lupicus goes life suck followed by life drain how do you respond to that without eating a hit from life drain

You have enough time to regen 1 dodge in that time. Hes always chilled after aoe life drain. And you have 3 dodges from energy sigils. Some really terrible RNG will cause problems but most of the time its not an issue. But i have never ran out of dodges when I needed them unless i wasted some stupidly or didnt proc my energy sigils at the right time.

I love how necro isn’t even worth calculating

It would require a whole series of tables to calculate dps values based on what’s in the group. Obviously a class will do better dps grouped with 2 guardians and a ranger than if it were grouped up with 4 necros.

Staff eles are alone at the top for best DPS in PvE no class come even close.
