Eh still dont agree that ele are op I do think they are the prob strongest but they are not game break and one classes with always be at the top. Though you could stilll run other classes and have a good comp. Yes eles are strong but they are not so strong that you cant consider other profs for your team.
Also if we are going to compare I think ele is slightly better than engi. It has a bit more sustain, bit more mobility, there current dd ele x/x/x/6/6 with3x cantrips can deal with focus fire a bit better. Though both still great choices for a team.
Same with Hambow kinda similar to ele but less mobility but war is way easier to play. Though nothing compares to the dps output of thiefs and mesmers the ability to burst from stealth is still very strong.

I am just wondering what classes are supposed to be able to kill an Ele? Cause they seem to take a long time dying.
Most d/d eles have only 1 stunbreak on a 75 or 60s CD, and are actually quite squishy when not constantly healing. Coordinated burst can wreck them pretty hard. If not focused and kept in-check, a longbow ranger can actually make life miserable for a d/d ele (mostly in soloQ).
Condi-overload specs like condi necro and engie (celes or condi) are tough to fight as well. If you can load up a lot of condis. Well-played shatter is also a very good fight, although most shatter mesmers are better off not getting in a long 1v1 when they could coordinate burst and end a fight quickly elsewhere.
If the ele isn’t d/d, then they have a pretty matchup with most other specs.

dont forget ST AD condi ranger. With krait runes and entangle they got almost as much condi burst and pressure as necro and certainly they got more then engi.

I am glad that ranger spec isn’t very popular its quite strong esp in 1v1.

Zerk Warriors/Thieves/Mesmers (both phantasm and shatter) can all kill eles in short order, especially if bursts are timed right and not blown while protection is up. Ele has the lowest vitality pool in the game, so if a smart condi necro/engi/ranger waits until after the ele has swapped to and out of water attune, you can easily murdered an ele in a couple of seconds.
There are plenty of ways to kill an ele… Fighting an ele requires as much knowledge as it takes to play an ele. That’s fair considering ele takes more effort/knowledge to effectively play (ESPECIALLY w/o cele) than any class other than possibly engi/thief.
