Eles bouncing back?
the changes to things like Fresh Air have given eles a one-trick-pony playstyle,
they have a build that can almost instantly kill anything but if that one shot is dodged or blocked then the ele is still pretty much the free kill they’ve always been.
still in the jumble of AI minions and clones its hard to spot a tiny asura casting their one shot combo, so it can sometimes be quite effective.
also if they take fiery greatsword they get access to another gimmick one shot :P
but thankfully i rarely see it used in pvp

Thing is, any coordinated team worth their salt will just say ‘Thief, focus ele all the time every time’
And there’s nothing the ele can do. In pvp you spec all damage and die to absolutely anything, or non damage, and contribute very little. Before it was bunker or damage, bunker was stopped, so what are you left with.
With the low health poor and low armor, a thief can easily chuck away most if not all the Elementalists health if they are glass.
Where other glassy classes have time to react, kite, snare, heal. With the Elementalist you pop your get out of damage free card and hope you’ll survive until it gets off cooldown, that’s if you can get your heal off in time while the thief is 222222222.
Right now the glass Elementalist is still the “YOU FORGOT ME” damage class.
Give it one team fight for it to work and the other team will learn to focus and blow up the Elementalist to quickly turn it into a 4v3.
Did I mention the glass Elementalist can’t roam unlike glass Necromancer or Engineer? They rely heavily on their team to stay alive. Go ahead, try to use a glass Elementalist on a 2v2, you can’t.

I COULDNT FIGURE OUT WHERE THE FURY AND VIGOR WERE COMING FROM

But isn’t the point here that you’d send a Thief after an Ele for a good reason? And that’s because the Ele will f*** you up if you don’t pay attention to him. You could send your Thief after any class, but you chose the Ele because Eles make a big difference in team-fights.
At least that’s my interpretation of it.

And that ele will be dead very quickly turning the say a 4v4 into a 4v3 without the ele having done much of anything to contribute. Being able to pump out a lot of damage isn’t what conquest is about, and really thieves only get away with going glass because of the high amount of stealth or evades.

Ugh, phone messed up and didn’t post my message (won’t let me edit or delete).
TL/DR of it is that the ele will die without causing any impact to the fight and leave his team shorthanded.
In Spvp, glass ele is good at being glass when killing people that stand under a dragon tooth while drooling, or when casting meteor shower on innocent children who can’t reach their keyboard. :p and perhaps when attacking the occasional victim who is least expecting it.

Like most, I queue solo into teamQ.
Now Elementalists have had a reputation for being “underpowered” for a while now and when asked, are generally considered “weak” by most players.
Yet surprisingly, I’ve seen a very large number of Elementalists in teamQ recently and nothing that suggests they’d be somehow underpowered. It seems as if teams have really started to appreciate Ele’s ability to apply AoE pressure in team-fights.
Meteorshower especially seem to elevate them because the skills isn’t particularly visible and despite the name, isn’t as obvious as one might think.
Now granted, they still die quickly when focused, but their Mistforms allow them to delay kills long enough to make a difference.
I’m not saying that Eles are “fine”. I’m sure they have issues. But I don’t feel they are quite the bane to your team as previously implied. To me it seems like they do manage to fill their niche (AoE node pressure) quite well, until as Thief sits on their face.
I’ve notice more and more eles each day on TPvP and they do a diference in team fights. They only need to have ways to deal with meta thiefs and they will be back to stay. Of course their damage is something ANet will look after that.
i’d just want a serious skill buff on skills and a balancing nerfs on traits…
That would bring ele back.
They did the exact opposite until today ruining the class and reducing builds.
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.

The issue is the thief can take the ele down 1v1 with very little difficulty. It would be different if there was a chance the thief might die, or the fight could take a few minutes. It won’t though, the ele is a speed bump, and suddenly it’s a 4v5 battle for 80 percent of the match. I almost guarantee a thief will kill an ele before the end of a meteor shower cast in pvp.
