You can balance the OP lameness and passiveness of spirit ranger by making the spirits only give their buffs to players.
The fact it gives buffs to pets is broken in this game. Completely broken and leads to a ton of issues and no skill play. If the spirits only gave buffs to players it would support “supporty” builds in this game whilst not being brokenly OP.
Giving a pet dhummfire and swiftness with spirits is really bad idea. I hope this change will come in as it will help the game a ton.

Not good. The entire game is nothing but cheese, that’s not changing. MM isn’t even a top 50 build, so killing it for the sake of…? Would just add one more notch in ANets super ability to kill diversity. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean someone else doesn’t, and with the overall state of the game, I think it’s fair to let anyone like whatever they want as long as it isn’t game breaking. And since MM aren’t ROLLING the top of the charts, I think we’re good on that. Hell no one even complained about Minion master until I won that 2v2 tourney with that Spirit ranger, then MM started getting cried about, nerfed and now this… >_> Literally MM was never even mentioned prior to that tourney, and I’m on the forums a LOT…

Well this is about bringing down spirit rangers and increasing skill in the game. It is an outlier that spirits give their buffs to non-players. The spirits turn a rangers pet into a fast, burning, hard hitting machine even whilst the ranger is bunkery and evading. It really is exceptionally broken.
This solution is a nice way to nerf spirit ranger whilst leaving its support qualities in tact. Skills like the signet of vampirism SPECIFICALLY ONLY WORK ON PLAYERS for this reason. It promotes skillful and fun play.

Actually, this made Signet of Vampirism useless… It had SOME sort of use until they did this and caused the entire Necro community to go into an uproar. (This and the 1 second GCD). The more you know! Also nerf Spirit rangers in a way that doesn’t remove an entire build from tPVP that isn’t even top 50 worthy… The only reason anyone started kittening about MM in general, let alone MM+Spirit ranger was because Kushh and I won a 2v2 tourney with it. Ever sincee then the whole world has been out to get us. Fact is, it was MORE powerful before we did it, the combo was always there, we just didn’t go so public with it prior.

The Ranger class are in crucial state in the moment and all you want to do is demoralize, dehumanize and destroy the ranger class in it’s weakness.
You have no Sympathy Compassion or Remorse for the outcast weak ranger class whatsoever.

Must not be a very good one if 2 seconds of burning every ~10 from an AI that can barely hit a moving target is what’s killing him.
If there is the need to have AI bases builds, it should exist a cap to how many can a class have at the same time.
AI needs to be reworked.

A necro actually. And there is no way AI should gain the buffs from spirits. It is ridiculous.
I feel that spirits should buff pets it’s only fair since they separated the dps of the ranger between player and pet.Why should someone else get the full 10% percent dps and the ranger only a part of it. The same for protection ,swiftness, protection and heal. Burning is the only one I can understand but the pet has low condition damage so no problem.
Only a few real troubles with the ranger spirits:
1) They are ANNOYING to look at
2) They have become the default way to play a ranger in too many modes
3) It is a passive style of play
ANet can solve the petting zoo issue by removing the AoE cap in sPvP, only keeping the 3 target cleave caps.

They could make it so AI doesnt count to the AI cap. But I doubt this is possible tbh
Although to be fair, I like the basic idea:
- Ranger: Spirits replace the pet.
- Warrior: Banners are always held by the warrior, cannot fight while wielding any banner. Their #6 skill is to buff the area buff for a few seconds, the one currently passive on the banner.
- Guardian: Can only have one group buff at a time, totally overpowered otherwise. Any PBAE or Virtue replaces one another.
- Engineer: Kits replace your weapon… wait. Nah, better, Tool Belt is a weapon now, replaces weapon/kit skills.
- Thief: Initiative only works if you got initiative. The enemy fights back = your initiative bar is automatically empty. Stealth can refill it, that’s it.
- Mesmer: Any skill with pink butterflies replaces clones/phantasms. Too many pink butterflies, unbalanced.
- Necromancer: Minions replace Death Shroud button with minion command. Can only have one minion at a time, the Rangers didn’t get to have more than one pet, either!
- Elementalist: Too many stances, too confusing, too much stuff. Types of utility skills are now stances. So your equipped Signets only work in Signet Stance, your equipped Glyphs only work in Glyph Stance, etc.
Sounds more balanced to me, too!
