it would be interesting and fit in an RP kinda way (your pet is guarding the area on high alert waiting to pounce on anything that comes near)
and it’d be good to get some counterplay to stealth, but it could completely ruin thieves, making it too easy to counter them
Maybe instead of break stealth, allow only the ranger see the hidden target if the target is in a certain range of the pet.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Stating the obvious but stealth is very hard to play against, since it basically gives control of the battle to whoever spams it like an addiction.
Telling a pet to guard an area wouldn’t kill off thieves/mesmers since it still requires some estimation of where the enemy is/could go next as as such is more of a form of counterplaying stealth and taking some of the control of the flow back instead of a straight up hard counter.

Rangers are already basically thief hunters if they wanna be they’ve got sickem, channelling skills that continue to hit a thief after he stealths while also showing the position of the thief.

Well conversely, the thieves and PU mesmers can change their build then to counter a Rangers “guard” build then. Nobody is forcing thieves or Mesmers to spam stealth till the cows come home, find a different way to play, remember it’s counter play, not whining 101 about god mode.
I think its better to put reveal on under used pets like pigs and moas since their skills hav reasonable cooldowns

Taking 1 skill does not make a build.
If it does apply Revealed when entering the area being guarded, there is no reason the pet should gain stealth.
Also, does it continue to apply Revealed if the target exits the 240 radius and then reenters it? How many targets would it effect and how often?

Revealed from enemy skills hardcounter a whole traitline from thieves (1 of 2 defensive traitlines). So, People really want 1 skill to completely counter 40% of thieves traitpoints.

Or rangers could change their build now to already counter thieves and pu mesmers, without needing ANOTHER revealed button handout from anet, remember its counter play not whining 101 about stealth
When I used to run a shout build on ranger I would spam"Gaurd" on myself for perma swiftness and regen. If I was also able to make that perma aoe revealed that would be ridiculous.

Why should there be a “anti thief” class? This game needs no further hardcounters. In fact, it shouldnt have hardcounters at all.
