Warrior or Guardian?

Coming back to GW2 this weekend from a long time away. Going to start a new character instead of picking up one that’s already leveled.

I remember really enjoying melee combat from both the Warrior and Guardian. I want to either use sword/sword or sword/shield – basically I really liked one handed swords.

With that in mind what would be the best class for solo leveling, some dungeons and PvP?

To make a fair comment, guardian sword is better from a pvp perspective. Though the only real reason is that it teleports instead of leaps and it can destroy projectiles.

But a warriors shield is superior than the guardians and the warriors shield can reflect projectiles if traited.

But to be even fairer, DPS guardians drop like a rock while warriors don’t.

I don’t think you can really compare sword for guardian with warrior. They work differently, and will be better or worst based on situation.

In fact sword is one of the best weapon for a warrior. You gain mobility with the leap, massive condition damage if you are going that route, an aoe immobilize through burst, and a good size burst damage either if you use power build or condition build.

Warrior can pair sword with shield if you go for the power build, or with another sword if you go condition.

Guardian’s sword is normally paired with focus in pvp. I won’t say shield is not good, just that focus has a big burst that guardian’s sword lacks. Guardian also does not die easily even for DPS ones.

From what Ive heard and seen. Condi warriors with 2 swords are very strong. However, warrior sword is a condi weapon and thus is basically useless in anything that involves multiple players in PvE because condition builds are still bottom of the barrel in this game.

If u want to have a coordinated tpvp team, condition warrior isn’t that good. The build is very selfish and is only good in duels but does not offer all that much to the team compared to say a hambow or even an evis bunker.

If you are going to be mainly solo queueing or just solo tpvping, its alright.

As for power sword build, i can’t really tell much as i never seen the build in action but personally i wouldn’t recommend it as the only good skill for sword in power build is sword 3 and its hella gimmicky and is heavily telegraphed so u wont be landing it against any decent players.

As for the topic, guardian shield is only good for pure bunker in spvp due to shield 5 knocking people out of point but other than that is completely useless everywhere else.

In terms of dungeons both are good and are highly desired, in high level fractals guardians are the most important but for any speed runs, warriors and elementalist are the most wanted.
