The distinction has already been made, there’s more than just “best mobility”, there’s also best landspeed. Warriors are the undisputed kings of GW2 landspeed. The question needs to be asked, has Landspeed been considered for balance?
This gameplay is outside the pale and warrior exclusive. It needs to be brought back in line with the rest of the game.

Several professions have weapon skills that are designed as gap closers that give them incredible mobility where they should not.

What I dont understand is why they haven’t made the skills- A: target only, and B: greater CD if used and dont land i.e. ride the lightning. I mean, the reason RTL was changed was this very, exact same gameplay issue. The very same. Only now that its warriors its ok?
Well warrior is a model class.
Definition of non-model classes is: a weaker in every aspect, weird and inefficient implementation of not more that 2 of the warriors distinct qualities with reduced visuals and uncertain future.

DeathShroud? I would take Damage Immunity over DeathShroud every day of the week. Without traits deathShroud is nothing more than a meat shield that gets worse the more people that are attacking. Damage immunity how ever gets BETTER the more people that are attacking them.
Minions – you mean those easily killed brainless creatures that attack anything and everything no matter what, just like pets Minions are used more as meat shields than anything else.
Stealth – Why have stealth when you have Healing Signet, Adrenal Healing, Greatsword, Condition Immunity, Damage Immunity and Dogged March…
Why have Protection or Aegis when you have Healing Signet, Adrenal Healing, Condition Immunity, Damage Immunity, Shield, Dogged March, High health and high toughness and Armor as standard.
Why have Illusions when you can just face tank everything?
Warriors are far from balanced.

Necros have it a bit worse – flesh wurm has a longer range than rocket boots but an even longer cooldown…

- best CC
- very good passive heal
- good utility skills
- immunities
- good uptime on stability
- best mobility
- can use almost every weapon
- indestructible pets with high uptime benefits
- very low skill ceiling, low risk high reward class
Balanced, yeah … Warrior is miles away from balance. Sadly, it can be said with other classes too.

Right, and I agree. But that wasn’t really my point regardless of the profession, weapon skill gap closers should not be used for world travel and escaping movement, regardless of the profession or what profession your escaping. In my eyes, requiring a simple target in range is the perfect solution.

Invulnerability > all of those.
Surely it should be obvious that the class with the highest base armour and highest base HP should not also have the highest landspeed.
Compare this to Ele for example: lowest base armour, lowest base HP, 3rd worst landspeed, nerfed all the way down from best. Hardly equitable.
ps: I play a warrior and even I think the landspeed advantage is silly.

warriors on spirit watch make me want to uninstall tbh

I would argue that guardian are more unmobile than engineers (without an opponent). Normally you have perma swiftness on an engie with minimal trait investment.
Also, warriors may have no minions…but they have indestructible banners.
Used everywhere in pve, unlike the other classes’ destructible counterparts. And with far higher uptime compared to guardians’ spirit weapons.

There is a difference between fast and completely invalidating the use of snares/swiftness.
Which profession has less mobility is completely irrelevant. What is relevant, is professions using skills that devs have stated as gap closers, being used for general movement and mobility, when they should not be able to be used in such a manner. The example of certain warrior skills are not the only ones, nor are they the only profession that has skills that should not be able to be used in this manner. Warrior are simply the most prevalent case given all of the other aspects of the profession.
Leap of faith has a shorter range, but also a lower cooldown than rocket boots. Merciful intervention and judges intervention are arguably better mobility skills than acid bomb, balancing up different situations where you need them.
Engies do have easier access to swiftness via traiting provided they are running at least one kit, but this discussion is about movement skills rather than swiftness or 25% traits, signets or runes.
Having said that, swiftness access for guards was a lot better before the SOS change.

Well if you look at it over time than you may be right. But on my engie i can run away more easily than on my guardian (without using stealth on my engie). And for running away the teleportation skill dont help a guardian.

Yep. They’re balanced. They just have:
The highest health class (tied with Necromancers).
The highest armor class (tied with Guardians).
The best standard damage (Guardians supposedly have the best highly-situational damage).
The best cc.
The best mobility.
And….
The best sustain healing.
So balanced.

The problem with warrior is it was supposed to be the easy class, the class with training wheels. You get on it and you can do ok even with just a little experience. The problem is the classes that are harder to play are supposed to surpass the training wheels when you become experienced enough.
so either the rest of us who don’t play warriors still suck or its time to drop the training wheels and make the warrior a real class that actually has a legitimate draw back.

Yea a mesmer can catch a war that does thing like run in the wrong direction, walks backwards, simply stops moving for no apparent reason, doesn’t run dogged march, and doesn’t use stability or dodge pulls. No problems here, feel free to move on.

Actually if you watch closely you need:
-traited manipulations, both range and CD.
-So a 1200 range blink to close gaps on a 24s cd
-Arcane thievery to steal swiftness off the warrior
-Focus to land cripple, and to pull for some cc, also as a source of swiftness for the mesmer
-High Boon duration from chaos and/or runes to maintain swiftness
-Sword 3 for imob, 80% condi duration to get a measly 3s
-Combo that with 5s burning from prestigue to add to the overall DPS, which, depending on how the warrior is built might not be enough regardless.
All this assumes that when the Warrior decides to flee, all your skills are off CD so you can fire all the combo’s it takes to do it. There’s zero room for error, and while the skill is out there, a warrior with a GS to go with his sword makes the whole enterprise ridiculous. Pretty much you have to be tweaked to counter, and even then you have to get lucky, and the warrior unlucky.
Also, if you note the vid in the original post, the warrior isnt even using swiftness at the time. Had he been, he’d of created even more distance. Of course not all warriors run full mobility, but when they do their Landspeed is broken.
Of course, you should also know that a warrior doesn’t need to run full mobility. He can sustain in a fight indefinitely until his opponent makes a mistake all the same, or against those who’re not utterly tricked out to counter, leave the fight with minimal mobility.

Oh, I was waiting when someone finally will copypaste this funny topic from WvW forums.
Hint: mobility PVT build is absolutely harmless, he can only run and tickle someone with GS before run away again. Even trololol CnD permastealth thief build is more dangerous.
The landspeed alone wouldn’t be too bad, but the issue is compounded when healing signet is taken, since they can just kite away, heal up and come right back for another go.

The warrior is not the problem, any weapon skill on any profession that is a gap closer, being used for mobility and escapes, IS the problem.

And this is an example of a terrible Warrior. No Mesmer, traited or not, is going to catch a good Warrior. Between the high passive healing, stability access, condi cleanse, and mobility offered by the greatsword and other weapons, the Mesmer cannot compete.

I agree with this. Elementalists had their gap closer ride the lightning nerfed severely ; warrior has better mobility and more sustain than an ele…either revert rtl’s harsh harsh cooldown nerf or give warrior gap closers a similar effect (double cd on miss)

- i am rank 34 currently, been around rank 300 in team pvp and 400 in soloq
- i run fractals lv 49 every day
MM necro has nothing to do with wars being too good atm and as side note, necros don’t have warrior moblity
blinds don’t work so well if you don’t sit inBP besides you got immunities; how is stealth overpowered? please elaborate
it is actually a myth that thieves can disengage at will, it is not as simple as people picture and doesn’t work 100% besides running away in pvp usually proves as a los of points
d/d ele is different story, still very squishy, still dying to condis, still has nothing to do with warriors being too strong and having everything

You mean “just double cooldown”? Because all warrior gap closers are non-teleports with literally non-existent chance to hit against any opponent who able to press movement button.

-Combo that with 5s burning from prestigue to add to the overall DPS, which, depending on how the warrior is built might not be enough regardless.All this assumes that when the Warrior decides to flee, all your skills are off CD so you can fire all the combo’s it takes to do it. There’s zero room for error, and while the skill is out there, a warrior with a GS to go with his sword makes the whole enterprise ridiculous. Pretty much you have to be tweaked to counter, and even then you have to get lucky, and the warrior unlucky.
Also, if you note the vid in the original post, the warrior isnt even using swiftness at the time. Had he been, he’d of created even more distance. Of course not all warriors run full mobility, but when they do their Landspeed is broken.
Of course, you should also know that a warrior doesn’t need to run full mobility. He can sustain in a fight indefinitely until his opponent makes a mistake all the same, or against those who’re not utterly tricked out to counter, leave the fight with minimal mobility.

If you have a trouble to deal with GS warrior, that’s your problem
If you have a trouble to deal with sword warrior, that’s your problem
HB and sword burst skill are channeling skills which are very hard to land without CC
GS is not an ideal weapon in wvw unless you take a mace on your main hand
sword/XX (maybe warhorn) + GS is completely for mobility set
p.s.: I was watching the video again to make sure about this. Why did you just let the warrior escape? I would admit the truth if the warrior could escape with cripple or CC

Why don t simply reduce the range and double the cooldown on miss?
Can be done with initiative cost also…should cost double and give half back on hit ….I m sure it would work perfectly leaving untouched the gap closing ability…
You mean “just double cooldown”? Because all warrior gap closers are non-teleports with literally non-existent chance to hit against any opponent who able to press movement button.
So was Ride the Lightning. It was slow enough to be easily observable and loud and obvious enough that only a foe with no brain cells or no dodges/blocks available (or who was cc’d) could be hit by it. A lot of the time, it would miss for no readily observable reason (usually the result nigh-invisible flaws in the terrain). That didn’t stop Arenanet from giving it this nerf.
Why, then, should a profession with higher health, sustain, armor, and damage than the Ele be exempted from a similar change made on similar grounds?

I dont mind to give them the old rtl back..
But the idea to make gapclosing skills only work on target is bad.. They are used for attacking or run away.
Also i rather have a leap rush on 900 range that atleast hit.. but thats my opinion
The distinction has already been made, there’s more than just “best mobility”, there’s also best landspeed. Warriors are the undisputed kings of [strike]GW2[/strike] landspeed. The question needs to be asked, has Landspeed been considered for balance?
This gameplay is outside the pale and warrior exclusive. It needs to be brought back in line with the rest of the game.

That warrior is not a mobile warrior, he basically ignored all the mobility that the warrior offers. The fact that it even took the mesmer that long to actually kill him is just a testament to how unbalanced things really are.

GS works absolutely fine in WvW. It gives you mobility so you can close gaps quickly and allows you to escape if things take a turn for the worse. Whirlwind is a great AOE damage attack for multiple enemies, minions, or shatter mesmer(bad for condition mesmer). 100b is hard to land and many make the mistake of trying to use it when they shouldn’t but if an enemy goes down it is an amazing skill as it not only just completely decimates the downed person, if anyone tries to rez them while you’re doing it they are pretty much downed as well. It is also great for taking camps You act like all the other GS attacks aren’t doing 2k+ per attack either.
I run GS/hammer or GS/Bow(zerg) on my warrior and do absolutely fine. It is just too good at damage and mobility to pass up for roaming. Top it off with 25% run speed for using a melee weapon and you cruise around the maps.
