If this is the update all it is is a little nerf to the 0/10/0/30/30 build because of bountiful power decrease and instead of running lighting flash cleansing flame and mist form for cantrips its going to be lighting flash mistform and armor of earth. They pretty much combined two useless traits to make one big useless trait(for both air and earth traits) and maybe made a viable cond build but we will see how well that works out

What the hell? Cleansing fire will be useless now! Who even thought it was overpowered? Most eles didn’t even run it but I loved it for dealing with those kitten engis and necros. Armor of earth and mist form were my least favorite cantrips, and now they are the only good ones…
And with lightning flash nerf that’s another nail in the coffin for our mobility. Mesmers get stealth, blinks, and clones to escape almost anything, but now our blink won’t do kitten. We don’t have clones and stealth to augment our blink like mesmers… we needed that stunbreak to survive.
I guess s/d could get interesting with fresh air though…

So your saying to me that i can go hurl>earthquake+flash>air spellls>updraf>firespells>air spells again for a massive burst combo??
Or i can go 0 /0 /20/20/30 with boon duration runes ,clerics amu ether renewal and perhaps new glyph ANDget 3 sec of AOE stability for every earth switch on top of the 2 armors of earth together with good uptime of new weakness?
Or i can go 30 in earth pick new toughness on channel trait,new gm trait and undead runes and have burn tick for 1k with the might? :O
The fire ones seem a bit underwelming and also that bountiful trait nerf but ok..water had to deal with not being a damage trait line eventually
Tbh it needs testing ause everyone got a series of buffs and you cant tell at which side ele will end up after the patch.It might even be on the weak side for all i know

I think you’re being a bit hysterical. Cleansing Fire lost 10 seconds of cooldown on top of its stunbreaker, which means it’s going to be better akittens core job (extra condi removal and AoE burn). Lightning Flash also lost cooldown and gained damage, which means it’s going to combo better with stuff like Churning Earth. I’m willing to bet you can still Flash while stunned (since it’s instant-cast), which means it’ll still help you mobile. The Mesmer’s Staff #2 works like that and it’s pretty amazing at helping you dodge big attacks that typically following up a stun.
Conversely, you can run Signet of Air or Glyph of Elemental Power if you want more stunbreakers, both of which are good skills in their own right for certain specs.

It’s hard to deny that it makes any sort of sense for an ideal burst spec to dive 25 points down the Vitality/Healing Power line. That said, I really dig the change to Persisting Flame. I’m not sure it’s enough on its own, but more free AoE Fury is pretty fantastic.

Rock Solid being changed looks like a huge buff. Hello 0/0/20/20/30.
I still think the lightning nerf is horrible, but I am thinking fresh air may be one way to bypass the arcana line. With auto-air recharge and the spike damage switching into air (with s/d), all we have to do is switch from air to whatever, arcane blast, and back to air for massive single target damage.

But i guess its possible Anet said kitten it and went down a list and randomly buffed /nerfed stuff.
For example, the 900 range ranger short bow change. . . . … .. … sounds like someones mad.
If these are indeed the changes, I am loving Anet for opening up new potential builds. I definitely see them wanting us to have an offensive alternative, and perhaps even condition.

Honestly, most of the changes make a lot of sense. Like, it’s long been common knowledge amongst rangers that the longbow is a totally pointless weapon, even if you want to deal direct damage, because the shortbow does it all better. The changes they’re making seem like they should push each weapon into a distinct niche.

30/30/0/0/10 s/d could be quite the glass cannon… but when I say glass, I mean glass. Our base health and armor is so low that we will be obliterated by just about anything, without any class mechanics to avoid it. On the other hand we will have massive fury+might stacking, great offensive stats and repeated switches into air for spike damage. I guess I’ll have to try it myself before I make a judgement. I wonder if it will be decent in PvE too (won’t get my hopes up about that though).
The only problem is I’ve never liked the scepter playstyle that much, but it seems to be the only weapon able to take full advantage of fresh air (mandatory for the new offensive builds in my opinion). Maybe I’ll like it better with the improved auto-attack cast lag though.

If these are the final patch notes, I dislike the removal of stun break from cleansing fire. Cleansing fire is the cantrip I run when only taking 1 cantrip.

Traits like fresh air are exactly what ele grandmaster traits should be like. A trait that completely changes the way the class is played. Examples are evasive arcana and ele surge.
With this trait you are no longer predictable, there is no more a basic rotation for an ele (exactly what an offensive ele needs) This trait alone alleviates the pressure of the arcane traitline. To sum it up air attunement is on a 5 second cooldown. Couple that with arcane utilities and your free to go into air whenever you please (minding the ICD). This is HUGE. Imagine a rotation of air > fire > air…WAIT WHAT???
Don’t even get me started on those lightning procs. I would go as far to say that this is borderline OP in terms of damage output. 6/25/13 Is a good day for s/d burst eles everywhere.
As for the fire line…still not optimal IMO
Persisting flames change : Fury outside of arcana is a good start in the right direction
Lava tomb change: ICD reduced… LMAO they know you will be downed alot.

Lightning flash cooldown should have been reduced even further to about 30 since it doesn’t stunbreak (I’ll miss you friend). That or increase the damage.

overall an interesting patch. My highlight is fresh air (I now feel like an engi with light armor). Still some useless util (cough signet actives cough) but one step at a time.
if they are correct, the only interesting change (I mean, the one I can consider a “fix”) is the Fire Trait getting fury and might: all the others look like either nerf, jokes or a mixture of both.
Well it’s about time meteor shower got buffed! Aside from that, movement trait buffs? I honestly thought those were going to be replaced or combined with other traits.
Moving stunbreaks away from cantrips is a stupid idea. Every cantrip was a stunbreak because it actually made sense based on their effects. No glyph makes sense as a stunbreak. Glyph of elemental power buffs your attacks for a lengthy period of time, so using it on cooldown or nearly on cooldown is logical. At the very least, you are generally going on the offensive when you use that glyph. Breaking stun is a defensive effect. Breaking stun and making your attacks apply conditions isn’t something you’ll ever want at the same time. Arcane shield would make way more sense as a stunbreak. The base effect of arcane shield even combines offense and defense reasonably well already.
Signet of air would need a buff to its passive. Swiftness is so abundant on eles that any movement signet should take that into account. It could give +7% movement speed when you have swiftness and 25% when you don’t. It could apply swiftness periodically and give boon duration. It could give the 25% speed and precision. Making it a stunbreak isn’t nonsensical, but the skill still needs something.
Also, 5 second cooldown reduction and a damage increase doesn’t even come close to compensating for not being a stunbreak anymore. Lightning flash rarely does damage anyway because it has a tiny radius.
The nerf to bountiful power is officially Anet just hating on water magic. 25 points in a defensive trait line means your damage will be low anyway. A 2%-16% increase to low damage is still low damage. If you’re using enough beserker gear to still have high damage with 25 points in water, you deserve the high damage.
I kind of want to call bullkitten because some of the changes in the leak seem really stupid, but I won’t be surprised if this is legit. No change is nearly as stupid as the rtl or kit refinement change.

Having said that, it does seem like the stupid kind of stuff they`ve done for ages ;p
As for Cleansing wave, I never used that for AoE fire & removing a condition was secondary, but wtf? I used it for removing immobilised mechanics. Not just stuns, but immobilisers which armour of earth didn`t last time I checked,.
P.S. Did Mesmer blink get the same nerf as Ele` LF did?
