I thought D/D eles were too tanky. So why did one of their auras get an additional 10% damage reduction ability?
As for the focus and staff’changes, those are pretty nice.
Quick question: when the patch notes mention the Evasive Arcana nerf in PvP, does that effect WvW? From my knowledge, ArenaNet treats WvW as PvE.

Aura changes seem nice enough. The RTL nerf though… Why was that necessary? It hurts every other D/D build just as much as it does bunker. And every other long range charge still has a short CD (swoop at 12s, rush at 15s, etc).

Seems like more of a buff than a nerf. Yes, I know that the RTL increase kind of blows, but you gotta admit, that kitten was quite imba at times.
EA was OP with water. And the “nerf” is just for sPvP, not PvE nor WvW. For RTL, it’s a little annoying, but not so much.
I think the changes are good. The increased RTL cooldown does make me sad, ’cause I love it so much, but I understand why they did it.
In other news, I really want to go back to playing my condition damage Warrior now. Off-hand Sword and Longbow got some nice changes~

Dagger/Focus is a consideration to make now.
If you’re willing to look past the RTL nerf (which sucks, I know) there’s some interesting stuff here.
Might see a little more 0/20/0/30/20 than 0/10/0/30/30 now.

can’t believe the RTL nerf, first my engineer’s nades took a 30% hit, now my ele’s rtl took a 25% nerf. this game is really starting to kitten me off.
Also lol: still only 1 build for the class. And no nerfs for mesmers or thiefs. LOLGW2PVP
Eh, the RTL nerf isn’t horribly bad when you factor in the attunement cool down. Kind of weird that it punishes glassier offhand dagger builds more than the bunker one, though. Here I thought they might nerf cantrips but they were ignored.
0/20/0/20/30 or 0/20/0/30/20 builds are looking more suitable now.
Flame Aura: In addition to the burning condition, this aura now grants 10 seconds of might each time the player is struck. This aura can activate only once per second. This change affects all flame auras.
Comet: This ability’s strike now occurs faster upon casting.

I use comet quite a bit, but it can be so hard to land. Should be interesting to see if the changes make it more effective.
That, and making flame auras.. relevant.. is a good thing. Before, I used to see it as wasting calories to even press the button.
I can see reducing healing regen on an arcana build, though I am not entirely sure they are making an effective change in that regard. Time will tell.

The RTL nerf is lame but not entirely unexpected. I’m kind of surprised that they buffed frost aura. Is it true that Evasive Arcana Cleaning Wave roll will be uneffected in WvW?

I’d rather have seen more changes to focus abilities and staff, but I think they’re saving that for next patch. The RTL nerf sucks, I hope they allow Aeromancer’s Alacrity to affect it now (20% reduction to Air CD).

I feel exactly the same way. Though, I assume there will still be a trait that is available for cooldown reduction (dont think they said anything about changing that), so it should come closer to equaling out if specifically traited for it. Maybe they will actually fix the tool tip now!
I no longer use daggers at all, but it was certainly one of my go-to skills almost specifically because of the low cooldown. I remain unsure as to if it will actually make a meaningful difference for those facing it though. Might just end up annoying eles more than anything else.

All the changes are fine but RTL nerf, really ANET? Lets keep pushing Eles more into a bunker spec than before. I wonder if they finally even fixed the air cooldowns reducing RTL because before it would always stay at 15 secs.

Ranger’s swoop (1100 range) is on 12s base CD. Warrior’s rush (1200 range) is on a 15s base CD. Infiltrator’s arrow or heartseeker can both cover as much distance, but with a significant initiative burn.

Indeed. Aura sharing just became much much better. Now that auras are solidified as a good spec can we get some other ones?
It basically just means that I’ll just have to conserve my RTL cd a little more often. The difference between resetting a fight and surviving and/or losing a zerg can be 5 seconds or less.
Very unhappy about these changes. The fotm bunker build was supposed to get nerfed. Instead it gets a tiny slap on the wrist, and only in spvp. Hell it’s even stronger in wvw with the aura buffs. Just ridiculous.
This patch was supposed to make it so you couldn’t be near invincible by facerolling bunker, and instead it pushes people further into that direction, and further shows how little anet cares about balancing wvw.
Also kitten about the RTL change. Not because the time is such a huge problem, but because RTL has disadvantages no other dash in the game has. When you use rtl, you can’t use any of your abilities. At all. If you get immobilized in RTL, it’s a death sentence. What were they thinking nerfing the cooldown without making it so RTL doesn’t kittening kill you half the time you use it. Just ridiculous.

Yeah, this RTL nerf (while sucky) doesn’t destroy builds (since most of them were bunker anyway). More annoying than anything else. Hopefully they continue to fix up scepter, focus, and staff a bit more (the focus changes were nice) since they could use some help.

Air CD Reduction was affecting RtL 2 weeks ago when i tried.
I’m gonna have to respectfully disagree with Anet strategy when it comes to class balancing. Healing Power sucks, the EA nerf barely reduces the healing, but they increased RtL CD? This is more of a nerf for Glass DD.
Over all they change stuff too slowly, by now i was expecting more skills/weapons/traits, or at the very least more true viable builds… Anet patch notes are so boring.

But the D/D gets 3 mobility skills without having to resort to specific skill/weaponcombination choices. And there’s still plenty more available in utility should they feel they need more.
Aura buffs are awesome. Makes them worth using beyond just granting Fury / Swiftness with traits. The only problem is that I’ve trained myself to mostly ignore Frost Aura and now I need to stop doing that, heh. Flame Shield increased duration to go along with that is also nice.
Stoning and Comet speed buffs are nice. Glyph boost to 3 might is also nice, though I almost never use it.
Flame Wall is still inferior to Ring of Fire, but at hopefully it’ll at least be slightly less wonky now. I swear at times I’ve shot things right through it and not gotten a combo, and needing to plant yourself directly in the center is annoying.
Static Field…. I don’t really get what changed. It seemed to stun enemies properly before, but maybe thats just because the AI reacts to Daze the same way as Stun, I dunno. I would have liked a more substancial buff to this skill, though, because its pretty lackluster IMO. Needs longer duration and to have some sort of effect on enemies inside (even just damage) and not just those crossing the line.
RTL nerf sucks. I don’t see how RTL was overpowered at all as it was. Not the end of the world or anything, but I don’t really see the point of it either.

I anticipate more nerfs to dagger and auramancer, these current changes do nothing to reduce the dominance of that spec/weapon(s) in the game for elementalists in PVE/sPVP/WVW.
But then again I hate our other specs, which basically don’t compete well at all with other classes. I hope they don’t just nerf the crap out of D/D x/x/x/2x/30 but actually introduce some other fun specs to the class. Heck, maybe something where I could do comparable damage to a warrior in PVE while sacrificing my survivability?

RTL nerf isn’t a huge deal you only need it to get in and then get out . 20 sec is short enough. EA nerf to heal is huge but since it doesn’t impact WvW I don’t care.

I wanted bunker ele to get nerfed. I wanted D/D to be a skill based weaponset, not a go triple cantrip bunker roll your face on the keyboard and perform at 90% efficiency weaponset. At the very least I wanted the changes to affect both wvw and spvp. The RTL change is dumb just because of how crappy RTL is mechanically. It’s just dumb. I see patches like this and I have trouble believing anyone at anet actually pvps.
It’s just a terrible patch which is going to result in even more fotm 30 water bunker eles because instead of nerfing the kitten build, anet buffed it.

A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.
Regarding the auras, it feels rather cheap they didn’t do something for Magnetic Aura since it’s also an aura. 2sec of stability upon taking damage? Probably not worth much but don’t just forget about the skill.
Not as bad as I was expecting, had even started fast levelling a Mestard just in case ;p
But let me get this right, because some kitten is too slow to click Immobilise on their skill (lol, skill…) bar they decide to nerf RTL?

Frost aura and fire shield changes have some logic in them but the rest…
What’s the point in changing Comet fall time if it was fine without it for anyone who played focus for enough time, yet the trash freezing gust, a clear slot-waster, gets no changes.
Same with Firewall. It’s still 4 times less damage, 5 times less burn, 4 times longer casttime and a 5s longer cd. I was sure they just forgot about focus fire-slots existence, but now…
And no scepter changes (flamestrike, shatterstone, ice shards\arc lightning dps?)… And no faceroll sustain nerfs…
I wish there could be a way to ask them directly.
They basically made the most OP spec in the game even more OP, gg Anet.
I would have preferred a double damage taken nerf… to a RTL nerf.
