2 shotted by 2 equal level25 mobs *_*
My 41 warrior was just in Blazeridge steppe and I just Roflaggro’ed 4 level 43 Ettin hunters and their pets and 2 griffions got throw in the mix somehow. Took them all down with my health above 50%.
How does that make you feel…?
Because I also have a 80 Eley and it makes me sick to my stomach what my warrior can do….
i have a warrior too, and up to now i think it is the most op class ever.
Everybody complaining for guardians, but guardian in comparison is just fine, very versatile, but not op at all. Warrior is op, period.
But this yet doesn’t save my ele’s kitten *_*
You will find leveling up as ele is getting more difficult. There are few ways to make it relatively easy tho.
1. I’m told non-condition build Sceptor/Dagger is quite easy to leveling. Why non-condition? Because you will face a bunch of condition immune mobs in late leveling. There are no damage immune mob where they only take condition damage. This is not cool. (I entirely leveled up with double daggers condition build)
2. Upgrade your gears as your level goes up. Don’t forget the underwater weapon if you are planning to level around watery areas.
3. Typically people say between 20 to 40 is very hard to level for some reasons. I find this too. I have no idea why, but things kick your butt very often in this level. Of course things even getting worse after 40 only because you are ele but anyways.
Long story short, after you hit 80 and are properly geared, ele is not much broken. However I’ve seen so many enemy eles fail quickly. I sometimes kill enemy 80 level ele without losing more than 2k health… which is both weird and sad. I don’t know if you will be one of them or decent ele. I wish you become a decent player.
Look at all that precision, and the tiny amuont of Vit/Toughness. When you gear like that, yes, that will be a normal occurrence. Ele’s do not make good glass cannons; if you try to gear like one, you’ll just get squished all the time.

At lower levels Eles are frustrating to play; without a lot of points in Arcane Power the attunements recharge awfully slow and you lack the traits which increase your survivability.
Try using conjured weapons, they make leveling less frustrating.
To Rhyse.8176:
Your statement is true. But a level 80 properly gearded glass cannon ele can for instance easily fight 4 risen at the same time. Do well in dungeons even arah and so on. Im talking about my experience and i have learned in pve eles are fine at level 80.
However as a glass cannon in WvW or SPvP you get stomped 1on1.
Warrior is op, period.*
According to ANet, it’s at the “sweet spot” and all other classes are balanced around it.
On topic: The differences (compared to other classes) will only get worse the higher level you become. Roaming around Cursed Shore as an Ele is a nightmare.
I met 2 centaurs shooters, lvl 25, and they shot me to the ground using 2 skills in 10 seconds
preamble: I am still grasping the basics of the class, which appears to be far more complex than what one would tell at glance, so I cannot share anything more than my opinion. No protips, sorry.
this said: I purposely avoided playing other toons, have only my Ele and will stick with it. In the process, have noticed a thing: it seems that we cannot keep the same traits in all areas of the map; often, I succeeded in tasks at which I failed previously by just discovering a combination of traits “that works”. That goes for utilities too: I am constantly swapping.
Usually when I enter an area, specially an unknown one, I try to get on a hill or some high spot and take a look to the environment and even click mobs to see what they are: I see venom/bleed capable ones? then I get some “remove condition” combination. I see “high damage” foes? I tune up regen/toughness (with time ‘tho I learnt that some “high damage” opponent is glass-made, so I tune up damage output instead of boosting defense).
When I am visiting a lower level zone, foes can’t twoshot me, even if they are four. Usually I am unable to complete my combo: they die halfway. (dagger/dagger here)
I have some trouble with three/four levels higher mobs when they are more than two, especially if they are capable of disabling (stun ecc): that requires kiting and crazy attunement dancing. Two mobs die halfway by conditions damage alone, the third one is still able to send me to waypoint or leaving me with 10hp left.
Of course if all the skills worked properly, things would be differents (for example, every time I use RTL it’s either a self-stun or running back to foes crowd instead of leaping toward safety) or boons that fades 10 seconds before the stated amount, wrong stacks ecc ecc.
Oh, and try to keep gear (weapons, armor, accessories) matched with your level: it does makes the difference.
enjoy
Thank you all for your feedback.
For the record, all items i was wearing was 20+, green when possible.
At the moment i’m specced 5 Air (… going to Bolt to the Hart), 10 Arcana (Final Shielding)
I normally go around D/D, or S/D, but in comparrison to melee classes whose most attacks hit AoE i have a lot of problem with Ele’s attacks, because they easily miss if i’m not positioned 100% well, or if i just have some lag.
In the long run i’m planning this: http://www.guildhead.com/skill-calc#ccszz9Mz0ohaLmomaLmGaa0xVcocmcq
I often read Ele should spec deep into Earth and Water, but aside the raw stat boost in Though/Vit i see few versatile traits usable out of their respective attunements.
@Celine.3287
If Warrior are in the sweet spot then all the other classes need a big lift and a huge share of love.
PS: Does Ele Human has no usable Elite underwater???

D/D at low levels is pretty rough but kudos to you for giving it a go so early. While final shielding is handy you’ll get much better use out of Elemental Attunement (Arcane V) and Quick Glyphs (Air III).
Not sure what you’re running as utility but Glyph of Renewal together with either Mist Form, Armour of Earth and the godly Glyph of Storms will be your friends.
Regarding speccing into Water/Earth it’s due to Air and Fire’s traits being questionable since we don’t excel at dps and suffer from lower survivability.
20/30 Water is fast becoming as required as a minimum of 10/20 in Arcane. You’re really most flexible when playing a mix of Water/ Earth / Arcane although you will be retraiting fairly often.
Only Tornado is usable under-water where it kicks serious pie hole.

I got one-shotted at around level 50. According to my combat log i was hit by Unknown, the move was called Explosion and it hit for all my health plus about 150.
I can only assume it was one of them bombs the little undeads carry.
Specced pure glass cannon, all fire/air/arcana + crit/pow.
And you know what? I am enjoying it a lot. As others have suggested, we aren’t too squishy, the other classes are too strong.
On my ranger main I never knew half my enemy’s moves because my pet took the hit. You don’t really have to pause and look at patrol routes with my ranger/warrior. You just go in and adapt when the ^%^*& hits the fan. Why not make more mobs with a fear, so melee classes have their own nemesis? Crushingly strong mage mobs would also do the trick : slow projectiles that hit like a truck. Just to force the melees into moving aswell. The game gets more enjoyable if it’s a constant struggle for survival.
Anyways, I don’t think ele’s CAN be balanced. They will be pegged to the dps the very best players can pull off in pvp. And that’s not me i’m afraid, so I’ll settle for ele in pve and other classes in pvp. The sooner people realise this the better.
For the record, all items i was wearing was 20+, green when possible.
At the moment i’m specced 5 Air (… going to Bolt to the Hart), 10 Arcana (Final Shielding)
While Final Shielding isn’t a bad trait and often is taken as a 20 point arcane trait, Elemental Attunement is in general better. It is the single best trait that the elementalist has, especially if playing D/D which has the best balanced attunements (allowing frequent swapping without any real disadvantages). And even more so if grouping.
Also, bolt to the heart is only a 5% damage increase on average. If you are playing D/D, then you’ll get a similar amount of damage boost from Zephyr’s Boon while simultaneously also boosting your swiftness uptime significantly. A much better deal.
@Wildclaw.6073 (for a strange reason i cannot quote)
Bolt to the Heart is a 20% dmg increase not?
Anyway i see your point.
He meant 5% overall. You get 20% for 1/4 of the time, so 5% on average.
