20 point fall trait?
It costs more points for the extra awesome our fall damage trait has.
Because it’s strong.
Could someone educate me on the usefullness of the fall trait? The only thing I could see it being useful for is dropping down from keeps.
Other than that, the ele doesn’t have any skills that instigate fall damage…how will it be effective?
Because if we didn’t have the 10 point traits we have now, we’d be stupidly fragile while leveling?
I’ve been one of the most vocal about the importance of a fall damage trait: my argument being that we were the only class that lacked one. However it is only of situational usefulness: WvW, exploring, vistas, & jumping puzzles.
Now I have to choose between a fall damage trait or much more vital combat oriented trait.
Because it’s strong.
It is not any stronger than the other fall damage traits: the point of the fall damage trait is to prevent fall damage from killing you. All traits cut that damage in half. How many opportunities are you really going to have to use the secondary effects? The secondary effects are just flavor.
I’m more concerned with the idea of it going into the water line.
I’ve gone to great lengths to avoid speccing heavily into water. And was mostly looking forward to taking points out of water to try out the buffs to fire/air lines. And yet now if I do take points out of water I have to choose between being able to switch to the fall damage trait or taking the traits I want to play around with. It’s an annoying turn of events to say the least. lol

Would it be that big of a deal if it were a ten point trait?
The issue is not what line it is: anyone can figure out how to squeeze ten points out of their build for a fall damage trait even if it isn’t in a line they want to go down.
because it’s hilariously beast strong
EARTHQUAKE on fall
or heal on fall
or whatever the other two were; probably sucked in comparison
Because it’s strong.
The warrior trait is a 10 pointer, and it’s an AoE knockback with no internal CD. Ours is more versatile maybe, but no stronger.
Northern Shiverpeaks ~ [dO] Drop Otter
Still, it doesn’t belong in water :P Slow fall, appears more to be an air, or arcana trait. Although I wish they could make fire and air more appealing. They might later though.

More versatile does makes it stronger. The warrior’s trait is pretty much an alternative version to the fall earthquake, but we still have the option to create fire or lightning fields, or even heal, which makes our trait more useful at more occasions.

Loads of times I`ve either ran from mass mobs or chased some randomer, meaning I had to escape/follow them over cliffs (small jumps that normally kill us or rabbits but nothing else ;p).
Majority off the time this`d mean my death yet they`d still wander off alive.
This trait is a huge bonus, looooooong overdue.
Also handy in places like MK instance etc.
