3rd day since patch. PvP Question?
I really like that bunker/support ele was nerfed bad but the fact that there is no real dps build makes me rage. I still try to play so scepter fresh air but it brings a lot of hate.
Playing ele so far has been a rollercoaster of disappointment. It has been so hard making d/x variants work on competent opponents. I have had minimal success on d/x sage/menders running tempest or arcana but the burst on niche classes like rev, mesmer, and warriors make it a pain to play. Staff and S/x variants I’ve had more success with. Simply because I try to stay away from everyone even remotely glancing at me.
I don’t want to give up. I’ll still play ele come S4. But gkitten Anet is making it so hard to love pvp ele.
i play sage s/f as before as my fun build and its still basically the same, funish to play for the burst on downed immobile players and that’s about it, the vulture build i call it. Still not viable in ranked where 1 weak link can destroy a team over time.

Having used mostly tempest last season, I’ll be playing my guard and warr mostly next season. I felt the pain of trying to make a class work when it was underpowered last time, no point putting myself through it again. The ele is consigned to the PvE bin for now ;-;

On the plus side scepter and 1hsword feels really awesome to play on guards.
I played demolisher ele last night… Water/Earth/Arcane with vitality runes
Wasn’t so bad because I played against really bad teams, but in a ranked match it would be terrible.
You burst in and then you have to run away and use all your defenses as soon as someone targets you.
It feels like playing the game with a very high handicap.
I have won only 1/30 of the ranked, against teams that are practicing… I just decided not to use ele this season. Druid can give support and still hit hard.
Support Tempest is dead, compared to Druid, who can deal better burst and give better support, and, if played well, even survive better. You either have to run Staff or Scepter because staying in melee without support, protection or CDs is going to result in a quick death. It’s so unbelievably easy to CC Eles, and you have to run the regen on aura use trait in order to handle conditions. It’s difficult to stay above 75% hp while being hit without the strong heals from before, so Diamond Skin isn’t particularly good. Using an Overload other than Earth is difficult for the same CC and melee range reasons.
I tried Demo amulet with both Staff and Scepter/Focus and I found Scepter/Focus had greater burst and sustain, but its utility is lacking compared with Staff. Conditions weren’t a problem much on either set, even without Diamond Skin.
I think Staff might end up being better still because of the utility and the fact that it’s just easier to do damage, even if it does less. It’s also easier to kite and stay mobile between points. If your team is good and can compensate for your lack of damage while taking advantage of your utilities and CC. Water 5 is also great against conditions.
My biggest struggle right now is finding the right heal. I’ve tried the Glyph which gives the greatest health in a short time, but Ether Feast is great against conditions but is unbelievably easy to interrupt. I’m really afraid of Anet giving Eles more stability instead of reducing the CC in the game. Giving stability would be the easiest “solution”.
been trying to play over last 2 nights and its a total nightmare, as soon as you get into meleee range with decent platyers you get destroyed as soon as you are focused on unless you run and hope they dont follow too far or you have all cools available, which give you another couple seconds. Farcical.
I only play Ele so thats it for me for spvp until this is sorted, running away a lot is not good gameplay..
