Hey guys, as the title suggests I have been away from the game a long time and right now I am feeling very lost! I have just recently got HoT and I want to stick with my main which is an Ele. I was a D/D ele, is that still feasible? What builds are most popular now?

In all honesty, there are no meta builds around, since the patch drops tomorrow and celestial amulet is getting removed. Noone knows what will happen. Stick around for 2 weeks and meta will start to form.

Without Cele, it will be hard for you to keep playing D/D. Based on the information we get, one of the most potential build after the patch is full glass cannon.

I’m not so positive about a viable full glass cannon ele, according to the infos we have so far, but we’ll see. I’d be glad to be wrong though.

With the nerfs to ammulettes I think the game will be like this:

Thief hard counters Ele and Mesmer
Ele hard counters Guardian
Mesmer hard counters Guardian
Guardian hard counters Thief

Of course this is up to builds… A DH would perform differently than a Burn Guard…

A Burn Guard actually counters the Ele but if the ele is Staff… No chance…
A Shatter mesmer counters DH, can kite Burn but hopeless against hybrid.

What about Mercenary Amulet in spvp? I honestly think that will work well. Not as well as cele, but cele was an overly potent ammy to be fair (removal unnecessary ofc, but…ye). In my opinion also.
