Hi Guys

Im new to elementalist but i have managed to get it up to 80 by playing d/d , s/d and staff at different situations.

I love the d/d so fast and feels like ur always moving and no one can catch you. While the s/d is like constant pressure cause of the air auto attack

While staff has great aoes and aoe heals

I just want to ask which build is good and can easily switch between weps

I want this build to kill in WvW and general dungeons – arah maybe? :P

Just asking which trait setup and what type of gear i should wear. I have watched a lot of ele builds especially bunker d/ds they look awesome they’re kiting a whole zerg yeah

just would like to get your opinion on these guys

Okay the general consensus for traits is:

Fire – sucks. Never take this (except in rare cases)
Air – pretty good
Earth – works only with condition damage or if you just want to be stupidly tanky.
Water – Amazing
Arcane – Almost a requirement in every build.

Most builds are something like 0/10/0/30/30 maybe with a few points moved around. It works with all weapon sets, and in all aspects of the game.

For gear you can’t go wrong with Knight’s. It has decent toughness and damage, and again works with all weapons. (I’m not saying it’s the best everywhere, but…it’s passable).

Edit: Oops, I forgot to say that the traits can be swapped around depending which weapon you use. For example 10 points in Air either gives you

-Fury and Swiftness with auras (take this with D/D)
-Glyphs come back 20% faster (with Staff).

So you just swap them depending what you want to use at the moment.

Knights means PTV right?

I heard on other forums toughness doesn’t contribute much.

It is worth having that gear what about Power, vitality and healing power? I think thats valkyrie? What about this gear

Knight is good…
But pve needs zerker :/

The point is having both is really useful..

Weapons zerker withotu any replacement… ,

Armors i would start with knight to get a zerker afterwards.

Trinkets…
Celestial with some PvT (i use backpack, 1 earring and necklace PvT).

Build 0/10/0/30/30 works :| there are Others but this is more versatile start with this..

Changing traits costs 3 silvers so its not an issue.

P.S: as sigils get one for might on weaponswap on a dagger…its expensive but Worth it.
For staff i prefer the one that gives energy (for evasions) on weapon swap….

P.S: Knight = power precision toughness toughness

GW2 balance:
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.

Knight’s is Power Precision Toughness (PVT is Soldier)

I personally don’t like vitality – it just increases the buffer that you have before you die. With all the heals that an Ele has, toughness is just much better since each heal is more ‘efficient’.

Therefore, instead of taking Power/Vit/Healing, take Cleric’s gear instead. Power/Toughness/Healing.

As for the might buff, each stack increases power and condition damage by 35.

Toughness makes you take less damage, so the extra 1000hp froma heal will last longer.
Healing power makes your heals actually more (not always in a 1:1 ratio).

Cleric’s is okay (for some classes it is useless) for Elementalists, so it just depends if you want more damage, or more survivability.

Don’t discount Cavalier (Power Toughness Crit Dmg) or just Berserker (Power Precision Crit Dmg) too, because D/D has permanent fury (+20% crit chance) up time.
