Hello folks

I’ve been running a condi build, and it’s working quite well. However, I’ve found I’m having lots of trouble spiking down high-health-regen opponents, even with the doom sigil.

Warriors and guards are very tough and can basically just run away from me, since I rely on conditions to do the job, they cleanse or ignore confusion and it becomes quite moot. Meet a warrior in wvw who I couldn’t get under 90% with crazy regen :S

The build – http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fFAQJArdhcM6b24wuBf0AfABxxnxDBLFrTB-T1SGABAoEUFVKUSpQCPAgfUSElyke3fAG1VI4EAwmeglUCRKgFlGB-w

I was contemplating dropping earth sigil, though it’s usually pretty good in 1v1’s for something else, but I don’t really know. Any suggestions?

When I used to run condi I would pop my human elite Reaper’s Grenth and that usually took care of it for me. Warriors are a bit tough because of their passive heal. The best way to take them down is to apply burn on them as much as possible. Their heal should only tick for 300-400 per second. That and regen would probably total to about 500-600 health per second. What I tend to do in those situations if I am d/d is I will drake breath them for the entire duration then go into earth and stack might/apply cripple then water and apply freeze. You want to make it so they cant cleanse that condition. Try using cleansing fire offensively as well. Remember, even as condi, with might stacks your lightning whip can apply good pressure when mixed with a bunch of conditions.

I’m s/f not d/d however, the build does ok direct damage, but when they passively cleanse immob (or decreases it immensely) it makes it difficult to land Dragon’s tooth (read: impossible)

why do you need all that condi damage and toughness? waste of stats.

I’d say you’re much better off going for condi duration in the Fire line - can pick up Fire’s Embrace or Cleansing Fire on the way up, maybe take Blinding Ashes and Burning Precision too. With plex runes, +40% food and the fire traitline, you’ll hit +100% duration (as in the build linked by sorrychief) - though of course you’re stuck with only a couple of trait points left for defense.
One idea would be to take Fire’s Embrace, Zephyr’s Boon, and swap out Strength of Stone for Elemental Shielding. You’ll be poor on heals and cleanse, but have a bit more mobility with swiftness, good protection uptime, and more crits with which to proc Burning Precision - along with the burning and might you get from Fire Auras.

Whatever you do, it’s pretty certain that maintaining your conditions is a much more reliable way to deal damage and lock down foes - you’ll have more condi on a foe at any given time, so they’ll have less chance of cleansing the more dangerous ones. No point in getting >200 poison damage per tick when it’s cleansed quickly and your foe can then heal effectively again!

It’s a PvP build, but you might draw some inspiration from it

However condi ele is far from being the most effective ele build.

Thanks for the help I ended up trying 20640 and it’s been working out quite nicely
The reason why I’m not going cookie cutter dd build is, well, it doesn’t suit me. It might just be that I can’t figure out how to play it, but it doesn’t work for me.
