Ele & thief main (full ascended)
Down with the braindead faceroll classes.
Namely Elemental attunement + renewing stamina gigantic nerf.
I haven’t read the 21 pages looking for an ANet response, but I sure hope that they’re reverting that, right?
Renewing Stamina is staying in Adept. Elemental Atunement is being moved up to Master. Blasting Staff is being moved down to Adept.
- If you were already going 30 into Arcana for Evasive Arcana, your build will not change.
- If you were already going 10 into Arcana for Renewing Stamina (eg. a lot of PvE builds), your build will not changed.
- If you were already going 20 into Arcana for Elemental Atunement and Renewing Stamina, your build will not change.
- If you were already going 20 into Arcana for Blasting Staff and Renewing Stamina, your build will not change.
- if you were already going 20 into Arcana for Blasting Staff and Elemental Atunement, your build will not change.

.
- If you were only going 10 into Arcana for Elemental Atunement, you’re kittened.
I can’t recall anything that said they were reverting it; Wouldn’t want an ele with their low HP, low dps & squishy selves be to OP now would we?
Yeah, I’m so relieved right now. I use at least 20 in arcana and that change would’ve killed ele for me.
I actually found an anet post in page 3, I hope they stay true to their words and keep Renewing stamina as an adept trait.

I believe it, when I see it in the actual update notes, sad but true.
Do not forget that Cleansing Wave will move to Master tier as well, because it is “and AoE condition remove on demand” although most of us consider it a vital “personal” survival skill.
In my opinion, the “nerf to Arcana” is the fact that the dependency on Arcana will still exist and that people investing in Arcana will not get a single second of reduced cool down after the patch.
Don’t get me wrong, perhaps the patch will be good for the Ele as patch “nerfs” some other classes more, but at the moment, I don’t see it.
Been 30 Arcana since release and this does nothing to change that. Putting 30 points into a trait that only affects 1/4 of my character is wasteful.
(except for specialist builds like water field spammer, etc)
Seems Anet has this belief that nerfing a particular line that is “overused” is the way to broaden build variety. They’ve said that they feel certain traits in Arcane are very attractive and should thus be moved to Master to warrant their strength. But in actuality these traits are taken because they’re useful for more than 1/4 of our skills and are unique enough that they can add new shape to a build. I’d say the fix is to buff the traits in other lines that are underused to make them more attractive to invest in those lines.
I would love for them to do like someone suggested make all attunes 8-9sec cd and turn that attunement recharge into something else.
Just speculating. Maybe a celestial bonus 2 crit damage and 20 points to all stats every 10 points in arcana. Or condi reduccion like guy said. Or global 0-30% reduction on your skills.

I would love that too but it would make even more people go the arcana route.

That is exactly what would happen. It is what happened with warriors, I was playing warrior before they got buffed and 20 points was the max you went into discipline(class mechanic tree like arcana) and if you where trying to maximize damage you only went 15 pts max into discipline now 20 points is the minimum you go in discipline and 30 is preferred.
Elemental Atunement…
What to say, it’s one of the few things that actually gives us f1-f4 skills, but in the long run of things it’s not really good enough to be a master trait.
It probably should be baseline.
Elemental Atunement … probably should be baseline.
Yes this is the only thing that makes sense, EA is a class-defining trait.
Their goal was to decrease the dependence of Eles on water and arcane but all they’re doing to making 20+ water 20+ arcane the bare minimum instead of 15+ water 20+arcane, the exact opposite of their intended goal. It’s kittening kittened.
i was going 10, and its kinda depressed me. It’s kinda a fundamental back bone of ele.
They obviously have no clue what they’re doing. They asked for feedback and still go ahead with these stupid changes. They need to hire a balance team that has actually played the class in every single possible way. I guarantee that if any Anet staff have actually ever touched ele , it’s just been as a zerg buffbot dropping occasional meteors while hiding behind allies. If any of them has ever bothered roaming alone, all the problems with ele would become blatantly obvious within the first 5 minutes of roaming. We need a balance team who has actually played the fraking class and knows what they’re talking about.

Thing is classes are not balanced around 1v1 to my understanding =/
got the impression ele is a favored class in this game. That is one of the reasons I chose ele as my main. What’s not to like about intelligence as a key characteristic?
The changes they are making are really silly to me. Pumping some good traits up in the line so people won’t have to go deeper into said lines?
I used just to go 10 in arcana for elemental attunement. But right now I’m trying some 20-30 builds just not to let go of that trait.
And while that auto cantrip on fire sounds nice is contradictory to give passive defenses to a low hp class. I want to use my defenses when I need them not when the game thinks I need them.
But well we have to remember is better than nothing. I’ll get better it always does I mean look at staff, right?

What ever gave you that impression? Patch history and current game balance suggests otherwise.

I actually helped someone? 0.0 Say it ain’t so!
Build diversity they said.
They wanted to create diversity without actually doing the work require to achieve that diversity. Instead of fixing the traits in the other line they decided to do a bonehead thing about instead force us to spend more points, in some cases.
