Q:

I realize that discussing moderation of the forums is against the code of conduct, but my thread was closed and I tried to send this via PM to the mod, but apparently that isn’t possible. This is a question for a mod, not an uprising and not a blatant attempt to violate the CoC. I hope you’ll indulge me.

A thread I began in an attempt to get the attention of a specific ANet staff members was closed. I got a PM that said it was closed because staff callouts and petition threads are against the code of conduct. The moderator was correct and the code of conduct states I shouldn’t be calling out staff, whether it’s done in a civil way or not. I also see there are no petition threads allowed. The thread was a violation on both counts so I’ve got no grounds to argue.

Here’s my question: Clearly there are many people upset with the recent changes to skills and traits of many classes. In my opinion, a healthy part of dealing with change is seeking understanding and sometimes a compromise. Granted, this is not my forum and my opinion doesn’t factor into the code of conduct, but is there no acceptable way that we as a community can collectively and calmly ask for some attention from the developers, whether it be rollbacks of changes or simply a bit of explanation for the thought process?

If you are a forum user reading this and you agree, I’m glad, but please don’t post a reply in a way that transforms this thread from a legitimate request for information into something else.

Please take your tinfoil hats off and be reasonable. ~ReginaB

Hi everyone,

Facepunch, the best way really to call the attention of the devs is to keep a constructive and polite thread and discussion. It is the labour of the moderator team, as well, to forward important concerns of the community to the staff, even though they browse the forums and take good note of what the community is speaking about.

Thanks for your understanding

I have a followup question: are you allowed to reply to a mod at all?

If you can read this then it is proof that ArenaNet’s moderators just, kind and fair.

I’m trying to, honestly. :-) There’s just one thing I don’t really understand and that’s why I wasn’t allowed to ask wheter or not the previous moderator already brought this particular issue with Evasive Arcana to the attention of the developers. To me, it seemed like the logical next step in this thread, but apparently that sort of questions isn’t allowed?

I’m asking just to make sure for future reference. I don’t mean to question any rules or anything.

If you can read this then it is proof that ArenaNet’s moderators just, kind and fair.
